Then the lord's bow Śārṅga was shattered in three places; by the force at the tip of Śārṅga, the lord's head was severed.
Severed, his head fell to the netherworld, driven by the wind, by the force of Pinākin, the bringer of life.
At that time, it entered his sacrificial fire, with its altar destroyed, its posts broken, and its gateway fallen.
Seeing the great hall ablaze, even the sacrifice fled, running in the form of a deer toward the sky.

Surrounded by splendor, he stood in the midst of the cremation ground, just as Bhava does; at that very moment, the blessed one born from the lotus appeared.
The glorious one, bowing and praying, spoke words of peace: 'Enough of anger, O Bhadra; even the gods have been destroyed.'
'Be gracious, let all be forgiven, together with those born of hair, O steadfast one.' And Bhadra, by the power of Brahmā, the supreme lord, became calm.
Gradually, calm was restored; the Lord, Vṛṣadhvaja, also stood there peacefully in the sky by that command.
Śarva, the giver of all, the great Lord of all worlds, accompanied by his attendants, was then earnestly entreated by the god Brahmā.

The blessed Nārāyaṇa, with joined palms, also praised him, as did Brahmā and all the sages, each one praising the one born from the elephant.
They praised the Lord of gods, Nīlakaṇṭha, the Bull-bannered one; having shown favor to those gods, Bhava then disappeared.

How did Satī, the auspicious daughter of Himavat, come to be, and how did she obtain the Lord of gods as her husband?
Assuming the body of Menā by her own will, that excellent woman was then born as the daughter of Himavat, O best of twice-born, through austerity.

By the austerity of the great goddess Pārvatī, the supreme Lord, Mahādeva, the Lord of all beings, was brought under her sway.
At that very time, there was a demon named Tāraka, the mighty son of Tārā, a radiant offspring of Diti.
