तुष्टाव परमेशानं हरिस्तं ललिताक्षरैः नमो रुद्राय शर्वाय महाग्रासाय विष्णवे
Hari praised the Supreme Lord with gentle words: 'Salutations to Rudra, to Sharva, to the great devourer, to Vishnu.'
नम उग्राय भीमाय नमः क्रोधाय मन्यवे नमो भवाय शर्वाय शङ्कराय शिवाय ते
Salutations to the fierce one, to the terrible one, to the wrathful, to the angry; salutations to Bhava, to Sharva, to Shankara, to Shiva, to you.
कालकालाय कालाय महाकालाय मृत्यवे वीराय वीरभद्राय क्षयद्वीराय शूलिने
To the time of time, to Time, to the great Time, to Death, to the hero, to Virabhadra, to the destroyer of heroes, to the wielder of the spear.
महादेवाय महते पशूनां पतये नमः एकाय नीलकण्ठाय श्रीकण्ठाय पिनाकिने
To the great god, to the mighty one, to the lord of beasts, salutations; to the solitary one, to the blue-throated, to the glorious-throated, to the wielder of the bow.
नमो ऽनन्ताय सूक्ष्माय नमस्ते मृत्युमन्यवे पराय परमेशाय परात्परतराय ते
Salutations to the infinite, to the subtle, salutations to you, the wrath of death; to the supreme, to the supreme Lord, to the highest of the high, to you.
परात्पराय विश्वाय नमस्ते विश्वमूर्त्तये नमो विष्णुकलत्राय विष्णुक्षेत्राय भानवे
To the highest of the high, to the universe, salutations to you, the form of the universe; salutations to the consort of Vishnu, to the field of Vishnu, to the radiant one.

त्र्यंबकाय त्र्यक्षराय शिपिविष्टाय मीढुषे मृत्युञ्जयाय शर्वाय सर्वज्ञाय मखारये
To Tryambaka, to the three-lettered, to the all-pervading, to the gracious, to the conqueror of death, to Sharva, to the all-knowing, to the destroyer of sacrifices.
मखेशाय वरेण्याय नमस्ते वह्निरूपिणे महाघ्राणाय जिह्वाय प्राणापानप्रवर्तिने
To the lord of sacrifices, to the most excellent, salutations to you, of fire-form; to the great nose, to the tongue, to the mover of breath and expiration.
त्रिगुणाय त्रिशूलाय गुणातीताय योगिने संसाराय प्रवाहाय महायन्त्रप्रवर्तिने
Salutations to the one of three qualities, bearer of the trident, transcender of qualities, the yogi, the flow of worldly existence, the great mover of the cosmic mechanism.

Thus, expressing himself in this way to Śaṅkara, the lion-man, said: 'Indeed, O Viṣṇu, you are powerless, defeated at the end of life.'
तद्वक्त्रशेषमात्रान्तं कृत्वा सर्वस्य विग्रहम् शुक्तिशित्यं तदा मङ्गं वीरभद्रः क्षणात्ततः
Then, having made only the face remain, and having destroyed the entire form, Vīrabhadra instantly subdued that fierce being.
अथ ब्रह्मादयः सर्वे वीरभद्र त्वया दृशा जीविताः स्मो वयं देवाः पर्जन्येनेव पादपाः
Then all the gods, beginning with Brahmā, said: 'O Vīrabhadra, by your sight we gods have been revived, like trees by rain.'
यस्य भीषा दहत्यग्निर् उदेति च रविः स्वयम् वातो वाति च सो ऽसि त्वं मृत्युर्धावति पञ्चमः
By whose command fire burns, the sun rises by itself, and the wind blows—such are you; death runs as the fifth.
यदव्यक्तं परं व्योम कलातीतं सदाशिवम् भगवंस्त्वामेव भवं वदन्ति ब्रह्मवादिनः
That which is unmanifest, the supreme space, beyond divisions, the eternal Śiva—O Lord, the knowers of Brahman declare you alone to be that.
के वयमेव धातुक्ये वेदने परमेश्वरः न विद्धि परमं धाम रूपलावण्यवर्णने
Who are we, indeed, in the realm of elements and perception? The Supreme Lord is not to be known by descriptions of form, beauty, or color.
उपसर्गेषु सर्वेषु त्रायस्वास्मान् गणाधिप एकादशात्मन् भगवान् वर्तते रूपवान् हरः
In all calamities, protect us, O lord of the gaṇas, eleven-formed one; the blessed Hara exists in manifold forms.
ईदृशान् ते ऽवताराणि दृष्ट्वा शिव बहूंस्तमः कदाचित् संदिहेन् नास्मांस् त्वच्चिन्तास्तमया तथा
Having witnessed such numerous incarnations of yours, O Shiva, darkness may sometimes arise, but we are not affected, for our thoughts are dispelled by contemplation of you.
गुञ्जागिरिवरतटा-मितरूपाणि सर्वशः अभ्यसंहर गम्यं ते न नीतव्यं परापरा
All the various forms you have assumed on the slopes of Guñja Mountain, withdraw them; your destination is not to be led by distinctions of higher and lower.
