Linga Purana

देव्यः शिवार्चनरता व्यपोहन्तु मलं मम अर्कः सोमो ऽङ्गारकश् च बुधश्चैव बृहस्पतिः

May the goddesses, devoted to worship of Śiva, dispel my impurity: Arka, Soma, Aṅgāraka, Budha, and Bṛhaspati.

शुक्रः शनैश्चरश्चैव राहुः केतुस्तथैव च व्यपोहन्तु भयं घोरं ग्रहपीडां शिवार्चकाः

Śukra, Śanaiścara, Rāhu, and Ketu as well—may those worshippers of Śiva dispel dreadful fear and the affliction of the planets.

मेषो वृषो ऽथ मिथुनस् तथा कर्कटकः शुभः सिंहश् च कन्या विपुला तुला वै वृश्चिकस् तथा

Aries, Taurus, Gemini, auspicious Cancer, Leo, Virgo, expansive Libra, and Scorpio as well.

धनुश् च मकरश्चैव कुंभो मीनस्तथैव च राशयो द्वादश ह्येते शिवपूजापरायणाः

The signs Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces—these twelve zodiac signs are devoted to the worship of Shiva.

व्यपोहन्तु भयं पापं प्रसादात्परमेष्ठिनः अश्विनी भरणी चैव कृत्तिका रोहिणी तथा

By the grace of the Supreme Lord, let Ashvini, Bharani, Krittika, and Rohini remove fear and sin.

श्रीमन्मृगशिरश्चार्द्रा पुनर्वसुपुष्यसार्पकाः मघा वै पूर्वफाल्गुन्य उत्तराफाल्गुनी तथा

Let the auspicious Mrigashira, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, and Uttara Phalguni likewise remove them.

हस्तचित्रा तथा स्वाती विशाखा चानुराधिका ज्येष्ठा मूलं महाभागा पूर्वाषाढा तथैव च

Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, and the greatly fortunate Mula and Purvashadha as well.

उत्तराषाढिका चैव श्रवणं च श्रविष्ठिका शतभिषक् पूर्वभद्रा तथा प्रोष्ठपदा तथा

Also Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhishak, Purva Bhadrapada, and Proshthapada.

पौष्णं च देव्यः सततं व्यपोहन्तु मलं मम ज्वरः कुम्भोदरश्चैव शङ्कुकर्णो महाबलः

May the goddesses of Pausha always remove my impurity; fever, Kumbhodara, Shankukarṇa, and the mighty Mahabala.

महाकर्णः प्रभातश् च महाभूतप्रमर्दनः श्येनजिच्छिवदूतश् च प्रमथाः प्रीतिवर्धनाः

Mahakarna, Prabhata, the subduer of great beings, Shyenajit, Shiva's messenger, the Pramathas, and those who increase joy.

कोटिकोटिशतैश्चैव भूतानां मातरः सदा व्यपोहन्तु भयं पापं महादेवप्रसादतः

And may the mothers of beings, in their hundreds of millions, always remove fear and sin by the grace of Mahadeva.

शिवध्यानैकसम्पन्नो हिमराड् अंबुसन्निभः कुन्देन्दुसदृशाकारः कुंभकुन्देन्दुभूषणः

Endowed solely with meditation on Shiva, resembling the king of mountains and water, with a form like jasmine and the moon, adorned with jasmine, pitcher, and moon.

वडवानलशत्रुर्यो वडवामुखभेदनः चतुष्पादसमायुक्तः क्षीरोद इव पाण्डुरः

The enemy of the submarine fire, the one who splits the mouth of the submarine mare, accompanied by four legs, white like the ocean of milk.

रुद्रलोके स्थितो नित्यं रुद्रैः सार्धं गणेश्वरैः वृषेन्द्रो विश्वधृग् देवो विश्वस्य जगतः पिता

Always established in the world of Rudra, together with the Rudras and leaders of the hosts, the bull-lord, supporter of the universe, god, father of the world.

वृतो नन्दादिभिर् नित्यं मातृभिर् मखमर्दनः शिवार्चनरतो नित्यं स मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Ever surrounded by Nandi and others, by the Mothers, destroyer of sacrifices, always devoted to the worship of Shiva—may he remove my sin.

गङ्गा माता जगन्माता रुद्रलोके व्यवस्थिता शिवभक्ता तु या नन्दा सा मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Ganga, the mother, mother of the world, established in the realm of Rudra, and Nanda, devoted to Shiva—may she remove my sin.

भद्रा भद्रपदा देवी शिवलोके व्यवस्थिता माता गवां महाभागा सा मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Bhadra, the goddess Bhadrapada, established in Shiva's realm, the greatly fortunate mother of cows—may she remove my sin.

सुरभिः सर्वतोभद्रा सर्वपापप्रणाशनी रुद्रपूजारता नित्यं सा मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Surabhi, ever auspicious in all directions, destroyer of all sins, always devoted to the worship of Rudra—may she remove my sin.

सुशीला शीलसम्पन्ना श्रीप्रदा शिवभाविता शिवलोके स्थिता नित्यं सा मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Of virtuous conduct, endowed with good qualities, bestower of prosperity, devoted to Shiva, always established in Shiva's realm—may she remove my sin.

वेदशास्त्रार्थतत्त्वज्ञः सर्वकार्याभिचिन्तकः समस्तगुणसम्पन्नः सर्वदेवेश्वरात्मजः

One who knows the true meaning of the Vedas and scriptures, who considers all actions, endowed with all virtues, the son of the Lord of all gods.

ज्येष्ठः सर्वेश्वरः सौम्यो महाविष्णुतनुः स्वयम् आर्यः सेनापतिः साक्षाद् गहनो मखमर्दनः

The eldest, Lord of all, gentle, himself the great form of Vishnu, noble, commander of the army, directly profound, destroyer of sacrifices.

ऐरावतगजारूढः कृष्णकुञ्चितमूर्धजः कृष्णाङ्गो रक्तनयनः शशिपन्नगभूषणः

Mounted on Airavata the elephant, with hair curled and dark, his body black, eyes red, adorned with the moon and serpents—

भूतैः प्रेतैः पिशाचैश् च कूष्माण्डैश् च समावृतः शिवार्चनरतः साक्षात् स मे पापं व्यपोहतु

Surrounded by spirits, ghosts, fiends, and goblins, devoted to the worship of Shiva in person—may he remove my sin.

ब्रह्माणी चैव माहेशी कौमारी वैष्णवी तथा वाराही चैव माहेन्द्री चामुण्डाग्नेयिका तथा

Brahmani, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Mahendri, Chamunda, and Agneyika—

एता वै मातरः सर्वाः सर्वलोकप्रपूजिताः योगिनीभिर् महापापं व्यपोहन्तु समाहिताः

These indeed are all the Mothers, revered by all the worlds; may these Yoginis, intent, dispel my great sin.

वीरभद्रो महातेजा हिमकुन्देन्दुसन्निभः रुद्रस्य तनयो रौद्रः शूलासक्तमहाकरः

Virabhadra, of great brilliance, shining like snow, jasmine, and the moon, the fierce son of Rudra, mighty-handed and bearing a trident—

सहस्रबाहुः सर्वज्ञः सर्वायुधधरः स्वयम् त्रेताग्निनयनो देवस् त्रैलोक्याभयदः प्रभुः

With a thousand arms, all-knowing, bearing every weapon himself, his eyes like the sacrificial fire, the lord who grants safety to the three worlds—

मातॄणां रक्षको नित्यं महावृषभवाहनः त्रैलोक्यनमितः श्रीमान् शिवपादार्चने रतः

Ever the protector of the Mothers, riding the great bull, honored by the three worlds, glorious, devoted to the worship of Shiva's feet—

यज्ञस्य च शिरश्छेत्ता पूष्णो दन्तविनाशनः वह्नेर्हस्तहरः साक्षाद् भगनेत्रनिपातनः

He who cut off the head of the sacrifice, destroyed the teeth of Pushan, took the hand of Agni, and struck out Bhaga's eyes—
