सूर्यकोटिप्रतीकाशैर् विमानै रत्नभूषितैः गत्वा शिवपुरं दिव्यं नेहायाति कदाचन
Having gone to the divine city of Śiva in aerial chariots shining like ten million suns and adorned with jewels, he never returns here again.
अथवा ह्येकमासं वा चरेदेवं व्रतोत्तमम् शिवलोकमवाप्नोति नात्र कार्या विचारणा
Or, if one observes this supreme vow even for a single month, he attains the world of Śiva—of this there is no doubt.
अथवा सक्तचित्तश्चेद् यान्यान् संचिन्तयेद्वरान् वर्षमेकं चरेदेवं तांस्तान्प्राप्य शिवं व्रजेत्
Or, if his mind is attached and he desires other boons, by observing this for one year, he attains those and then reaches Śiva.
देवत्वं वा पितृत्वं वा देवराजत्वमेव च गाणपत्यपदं वापि सक्तो ऽपि लभते नरः
Whether it be divinity, ancestorhood, sovereignty among gods, or the status of Gaṇapati—whatever he is attached to, a man attains.
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां भोगार्थी भोगमाप्नुयात् द्रव्यार्थी च निधिं पश्येद् आयुःकामश् चिरायुषम्
A seeker of knowledge obtains knowledge, a seeker of enjoyment obtains pleasure, a seeker of wealth finds treasure, and one desiring long life attains longevity.
यान्यांश्चिन्तयते कामांस् तांस्तान्प्राप्येह मोदते एकमासव्रतादेव सो ऽन्ते रुद्रत्वमाप्नुयात्
Whatever desires he contemplates, he enjoys those here; and by the vow of a single month, at the end he attains the state of Rudra.
इदं पवित्रं परमं रहस्यं व्रतोत्तमं विश्वसृजापि सृष्टम् हिताय देवासुरसिद्धमर्त्यविद्याधराणां परमं शिवेन
This pure, supreme, and secret vow was established by the creator of the universe for the welfare of gods, asuras, siddhas, mortals, and vidyādharas, by the supreme Śiva.
सम्पूज्य पूज्यं विधिनैवमीशं प्रणम्य मूर्ध्ना सह भृत्यपुत्रैः व्यपोहनं नाम जपेत्स्तवं च प्रदक्षिणं कृत्य शिवं प्रयत्नात्
Having worshipped the Lord in this manner according to rule, bowing with the head along with servants and sons, one should recite the hymn called 'Vyapohana' and circumambulate Śiva with effort.
पुराकृतं विश्वसृजा स्तवं च हिताय देवेन जगत्त्रयस्य पितामहेनैव सुरैश्च सार्धं महानुभावेन महार्घ्यम् एतत्
This hymn, composed by the creator of the universe for the welfare of the three worlds, was offered by the great and venerable god, the grandfather of all, together with the gods.
व्यपोहनस्तवं वक्ष्ये सर्वसिद्धिप्रदं शुभम् नन्दिनश् च मुखाच्छ्रुत्वा कुमारेण महात्मना
I will now declare the 'Vyapohana' hymn, bestowing all attainments and auspicious, as heard from the mouth of Nandin by the great-souled Kumāra.
व्यासाय कथितं तस्माद् बहुमानेन वै मया नमः शिवाय शुद्धाय निर्मलाय यशस्विने
Therefore, with great respect, I have told this to Vyāsa: Salutation to Śiva, the pure, the spotless, the illustrious one.
दुष्टान्तकाय सर्वाय भवाय परमात्मने पञ्चवक्त्रो दशभुजो ह्य् अक्षपञ्चदशैर्युतः
To the destroyer of the wicked, to the all-pervading, to the supreme soul, who has five faces, ten arms, and is endowed with fifteen eyes.
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशः सर्वाभरणभूषितः सर्वज्ञः सर्वगः शान्तः सर्वोपरि सुसंस्थितः
He is pure, shining like crystal, adorned with every ornament, all-knowing, all-pervading, peaceful, and excellently established above all.
पद्मासनस्थः सोमेशः पापमाशु व्यपोहतु ईशानः पुरुषश्चैव अघोरः सद्य एव च
May the lord of Soma, seated on a lotus throne, swiftly remove my sin—he who is Īśāna, the Supreme Person, Aghora, and Sadyas.
वामदेवश् च भगवान् पापमाशु व्यपोहतु अनन्तः सर्वविद्येशः सर्वज्ञः सर्वदः प्रभुः
May the blessed Vāmadeva swiftly remove my sin—he who is endless, lord of all knowledge, all-knowing, the giver of all, the sovereign.
शिवध्यानैकसम्पन्नः स मे पापं व्यपोहतु सूक्ष्मः सुरासुरेशानो विश्वेशो गणपूजितः
He who is accomplished in single-minded meditation on Śiva—may he remove my sin; subtle, lord of gods and demons, lord of all, worshipped by the Gaṇas.
शिवध्यानैकसम्पन्नः स मे पापं व्यपोहतु शिवोत्तमो महापूज्यः शिवध्यानपरायणः
He who is accomplished in single-minded meditation on Śiva—may he remove my sin; the highest Śiva, greatly revered, devoted to meditation on Śiva.
सर्वगः सर्वदः शान्तः स मे पापं व्यपोहतु एकाक्षो भगवानीशः शिवार्चनपरायणः
He who is all-pervading, the giver of all, peaceful—may he remove my sin; the one-eyed blessed lord, devoted to the worship of Śiva.
शिवध्यानैकसम्पन्नः स मे पापं व्यपोहतु त्रिमूर्तिर् भगवान् ईशः शिवभक्तिप्रबोधकः
He who is accomplished in single-minded meditation on Śiva—may he remove my sin; the blessed lord, the Trimūrti, awakener of devotion to Śiva.
शिवध्यानैकसम्पन्नः स मे पापं व्यपोहतु श्रीकण्ठः श्रीपतिः श्रीमाञ् शिवध्यानरतः सदा
He who is accomplished in single-minded meditation on Śiva—may he remove my sin; Śrīkaṇṭha, the lord of fortune, glorious, always intent on meditation upon Śiva.
शिवार्चनरतः श्रीमान् स मे पापं व्यपोहतु त्रैलोक्यनमिता देवी सोल्काकारा पुरातनी
He who is devoted to the worship of Śiva, glorious—may he remove my sin; the goddess, honored by the three worlds, ancient, with the form of the sun's orb.
शिवार्चनरतः श्रीमान् स मे पापं व्यपोहतु त्रैलोक्यनमिता देवी सोल्काकारा पुरातनी
He who is devoted to the worship of Śiva, glorious—may he remove my sin; the goddess, honored by the three worlds, ancient, with the form of the sun's orb.
दाक्षायणी महादेवी गौरी हैमवती शुभा एकपर्णाग्रजा सौम्या तथा वै चैकपाटला
Dākṣāyaṇī, the great goddess, Gaurī, the auspicious daughter of Himavat, the elder sister of Ekaparṇā, gentle, and also Ekapāṭalā.
अपर्णा वरदा देवी वरदानैकतत्परा उमा सुरहरा साक्षात् कौशिकी वा कपर्दिनी
Aparṇā, the boon-giving goddess, ever intent on granting boons, Umā, the direct remover of gods, or Kauśikī, or Kapardinī.
खट्वाङ्गधारिणी दिव्या कराग्रतरुपल्लवा नैगमेयादिभिर् दिव्यैश् चतुर्भिः पुत्रकैर्वृता
Divine bearer of the khaṭvāṅga, with hands like tender shoots, surrounded by four divine sons such as Naigameya and others.
मेनाया नन्दिनी देवी वारिजा वारिजेक्षणा अंबाया वीतशोकस्य नन्दिनश् च महात्मनः
Nandinī, daughter of Menā, lotus-born, lotus-eyed, daughter of the sorrowless Ambā and the great-souled Nandin.
शुभावत्याः सखी शान्ता पञ्चचूडा वरप्रदा सृष्ट्यर्थं सर्वभूतानां प्रकृतित्वं गताव्यया
The peaceful friend of Śubhāvatī, bestower of boons, Pañcacūḍā, who, for the sake of creation of all beings, has attained the state of primordial nature, imperishable.
त्रयोविंशतिभिस् तत्त्वैर् महदाद्यैर् विजृम्भिता लक्ष्म्यादिशक्तिभिर् नित्यं नमिता नन्दनन्दिनी
Manifested through the twenty-three principles beginning with Mahat, always honored by powers such as Lakṣmī, she is Nandanandinī.
मनोन्मनी महादेवी मायावी मण्डनप्रिया मायया या जगत्सर्वं ब्रह्माद्यं सचराचरम्
Manonmanī, the great goddess, mistress of illusion, fond of adornment, by her māyā encompasses the entire world, from Brahmā onward, both moving and unmoving.
क्षोभिणी मोहिनी नित्यं योगिनां हृदि संस्थिता एकानेकस्थिता लोके इन्दीवरनिभेक्षणा
The agitator, the enchantress, ever abiding in the hearts of yogis, existing as one and as many in the world, with eyes resembling blue lotuses.
