नवात्मतत्त्वरूपाय नवाष्टात्मात्मशक्तये पुनरष्टप्रकाशाय तथाष्टाष्टकमूर्तये
To You who are the form of the nine essential principles, whose power is the nine and eightfold self, who again shine forth in eight ways, and who are the eightfold eight-formed One.
चतुःषष्ट्यात्मतत्त्वाय पुनरष्टविधाय ते गुणाष्टकवृतायैव गुणिने निर्गुणाय ते
To You who are the sixty-four essential principles of the self, who are again of eightfold nature, who are surrounded by the eight qualities, who possess qualities and are yet beyond qualities.
मूलस्थाय नमस्तुभ्यं शाश्वतस्थानवासिने नाभिमण्डलसंस्थाय हृदि निःस्वनकारिणे
Salutation to You who abide at the root, who dwell in the eternal place, who are established in the navel region, and who cause resonance in the heart.
कन्धरे च स्थितायैव तालुरन्ध्रस्थिताय च भ्रूमध्ये संस्थितायैव नादमध्ये स्थिताय च
To You who are established in the throat, who are present at the palate's opening, who are situated between the eyebrows, and who abide in the midst of sound.
चन्द्रबिम्बस्थितायैव शिवाय शिवरूपिणे वह्निसोमार्करूपाय षट्त्रिंशच्छक्तिरूपिणे
To You who are established in the orb of the moon, who are Śiva, who take the form of Śiva, who are of the forms of fire, moon, and sun, and who are the embodiment of thirty-six energies.
त्रिधा संवृत्य लोकान्वै प्रसुप्तभुजगात्मने त्रिप्रकारं स्थितायैव त्रेताग्निमयरूपिणे
To You who, having enveloped the worlds in three ways, are the self of the sleeping serpent, who are established in three forms, and whose form is the fire of the threefold sacrificial altar.
सदाशिवाय शान्ताय महेशाय पिनाकिने सर्वज्ञाय शरण्याय सद्योजाताय वै नमः
To Sadāśiva, the peaceful one, to the great Lord, the wielder of the Pināka bow, the all-knowing, the refuge, and to Sadyojāta, I bow.
अघोराय नमस्तुभ्यं वामदेवाय ते नमः तत्पुरुषाय नमो ऽस्तु ईशानाय नमोनमः
Salutation to Aghora, salutation to Vāmadeva, salutation to Tatpuruṣa, repeated salutation to Īśāna.
नमस्त्रिंशत्प्रकाशाय शान्तातीताय वै नमः अनन्तेशाय सूक्ष्माय उत्तमाय नमो ऽस्तु ते
Salutation to You, the thirtyfold radiance, to the one beyond peace, to the Lord of infinity, to the subtle one, to the highest, I bow.
एकाक्षाय नमस्तुभ्यम् एकरुद्राय ते नमः नमस्त्रिमूर्तये तुभ्यं श्रीकण्ठाय शिखण्डिने
Salutation to You, the one-eyed; salutation to You, the one Rudra; salutation to You, the three-formed; to Śrīkaṇṭha, the crested one.
अनन्तासनसंस्थाय अनन्तायान्तकारिणे विमलाय विशालाय विमलाङ्गाय ते नमः
To You who are seated on the endless seat, who are endless and the destroyer of the end, who are pure, vast, and whose limbs are spotless, I bow.
विमलासनसंस्थाय विमलार्थार्थरूपिणे योगपीठान्तरस्थाय योगिने योगदायिने
To You who are seated on the pure seat, who are the form of pure meaning and purpose, who dwell in the inner seat of yoga, who are the yogi and the giver of yoga.
योगिनां हृदि संस्थाय सदा नीवारशूकवत् प्रत्याहाराय ते नित्यं प्रत्याहाररताय ते
To You who ever dwell in the hearts of yogis, like unhulled rice, who are withdrawal (pratyāhāra) itself, and who are always devoted to withdrawal.
प्रत्याहाररतानां च प्रतिस्थानस्थिताय च धारणायै नमस्तुभ्यं धारणाभिरताय ते
To You who are established as the support for those devoted to withdrawal, salutation to You as concentration (dhāraṇā), and to You who are ever devoted to concentration.
धारणाभ्यासयुक्तानां पुरस्तात्संस्थिताय च ध्यानाय ध्यानरूपाय ध्यानगम्याय ते नमः
To You who are present before those engaged in the practice of concentration, to meditation, to the form of meditation, to You who are attainable through meditation, I bow.
ध्येयाय ध्येयगम्याय ध्येयध्यानाय ते नमः ध्येयानामपि ध्येयाय नमो ध्येयतमाय ते
To You who are the object of meditation, who are attainable by meditation, who are meditation and the meditated-upon, I bow; to You who are the object of meditation even for those who meditate, and who are the most worthy of meditation, I bow.
समाधानाभिगम्याय समाधानाय ते नमः समाधानरतानां तु निर्विकल्पार्थरूपिणे
Salutation to you, who are approached through concentration, who are the very embodiment of concentration, and who take the form of the objectless state cherished by those devoted to absorption.
दग्ध्वोद्धृतं सर्वमिदं त्वयाद्य जगत्त्रयं रुद्र पुरत्रयं हि कः स्तोतुमिच्छेत् कथमीदृशं त्वां स्तोष्ये हि तुष्टाय शिवाय तुभ्यम्
O Rudra, today you have burned and lifted up all this threefold world; who could wish to praise you, the destroyer of the three cities, and how could I praise you, O Shiva, who are already satisfied?
भक्त्या च तुष्ट्याद्भुतदर्शनाच्च मर्त्या अमर्त्या अपि देवदेव एते गणाः सिद्धगणैः प्रणामं कुर्वन्ति देवेश गणेश तुभ्यम्
Because of devotion, satisfaction, and your wondrous appearance, even mortals and immortals, O God of gods, these hosts of gods and perfected beings, bow down to you, O Lord of hosts, O Lord of the Gaṇas.
निरीक्षणादेव विभो ऽसि दग्धुं पुरत्रयं चैव जगत्त्रयं च लीलालसेनांबिकया क्षणेन दग्धं किलेषुश् च तदाथ मुक्तः
O Sovereign, merely by your glance you are able to burn the three cities and the three worlds; with Ambika as your playful army, you burned them in an instant, and then were released from the arrows.
कृतो रथश्चेषुवरश् च शुभ्रं शरसनं ते त्रिपुरक्षयाय अनेकयत्नैश् च मयाथ तुभ्यं फलं न दृष्टं सुरसिद्धसंघैः
A chariot was made, and a great bow, and a shining arrow for the destruction of Tripura; with many efforts by me and the hosts of gods and siddhas, no result was seen for you.
रथो रथी देववरो हरिश् च रुद्रः स्वयं शक्रपितामहौ च त्वमेव सर्वे भगवन् कथं तु स्तोष्ये ह्य् अतोष्यं प्रणिपत्य मूर्ध्ना
The chariot, the charioteer, the best of gods, Hari, and Rudra himself, Indra and the Grandfather—O Lord, you are all of them; how then can I praise you, who cannot be satisfied, except by bowing my head?
अनन्तपादस् त्वम् अनन्तबाहुर् अनन्तमूर्धान्तकरः शिवश् च अनन्तमूर्तिः कथम् ईदृशं त्वां तोष्ये ह्य् अतोष्यं कथमीदृशं त्वाम्
You have endless feet, endless arms, endless heads, and are the destroyer of ends, O Shiva; you are of infinite forms—how can I satisfy you, who cannot be satisfied, how can I praise one such as you?
नमोनमः सर्वविदे शिवाय रुद्राय शर्वाय भवाय तुभ्यम् स्थूलाय सूक्ष्माय सुसूक्ष्मसूक्ष्मसूक्ष्माय सूक्ष्मार्थविदे विधात्रे
Salutations again and again to you, who know all, who are Shiva, Rudra, Sharva, and Bhava; to you who are gross, subtle, most exceedingly subtle, knower of subtle meanings, and the creator.
स्रष्ट्रे नमः सर्वसुरासुराणां भर्त्रे च हर्त्रे जगतां विधात्रे नेत्रे सुराणामसुरेश्वराणां दात्रे प्रशास्त्रे मम सर्वशास्त्रे
Salutation to the creator, the sustainer of all gods and demons, the destroyer of worlds, the ordainer, the leader of gods and lords of demons, the giver, the ruler, and to you who are the master of all scriptures.
वेदान्तवेद्याय सुनिर्मलाय वेदार्थविद्भिः सततं स्तुताय वेदात्मरूपाय भवाय तुभ्यम् अन्ताय मध्याय सुमध्यमाय
To you who are known through Vedanta, who are pure, who are always praised by knowers of the Vedas, who are the very essence of the Vedas, to you who are the end, the middle, and the best of middles, O Bhava.
आद्यन्तशून्याय च संस्थिताय तथा त्वशून्याय च लिङ्गिने च अलिङ्गिने लिङ्गमयाय तुभ्यं लिङ्गाय वेदादिमयाय साक्षात्
To you who are established as without beginning or end, who are not void, who are with form and without form, who are made of the linga, to the linga, to you who are the direct embodiment of the Vedas and their source.
रुद्राय मूर्धाननिकृन्तनाय ममादिदेवस्य च यज्ञमूर्तेः विध्वान्तभङ्गं मम कर्तुमीश दृष्ट्वैव भूमौ करजाग्रकोट्या
To Rudra, who severs heads, to the sacrificial form of my primeval god; O Lord, seeing the destruction of my sacrifice, you struck the earth with the tip of your fingernail.
अहो विचित्रं तव देवदेव विचेष्टितं सर्वसुरासुरेश देहीव देवैः सह देवकार्यं करिष्यसे निर्गुणरूपतत्त्व
Ah, how wondrous is your activity, O God of gods, Lord of all gods and demons; though you possess a body, together with the gods you accomplish divine deeds, yet your true nature is formless.
एकं स्थूलं सूक्ष्ममेकं सुसूक्ष्मं मूर्तामूर्तं मूर्तमेकं ह्यमूर्तम् एकं दृष्टं वाङ्मयं चैकमीशं ध्येयं चैकं तत्त्वमत्राद्भुतं ते
You are one, gross; one, subtle; one, most exceedingly subtle; with form and without form; one with form, one without form; one visible, one of speech, one Lord, one to be meditated upon—this wondrous reality is yours alone.
