And on the Śāka island, there are also seven mountains; listen to their names: Udaya, Raivata, and Śyāmaka, O best of sages.
There is the splendid mountain Rājata, beautiful and belonging to Ambikā; beyond Ambikeya is the delightful mountain filled with all herbs.
Likewise, there is the mountain called Kesarī, from which the wind arises; on Puṣkara, there is a single great mountain of stone, resplendent.
With peaks made of various jewels and lofty masses of stone, that great mountain stands on the eastern half of the island, with a wondrous summit.
Rising upwards for fifty thousand yojanas, and extending downwards for thirty-four thousand yojanas, is that great mountain.
Encircling the half of the island stands the mountain Mānasottara, situated near the shore, shining forth like a newly risen crescent moon.
It rises upwards for fifty thousand yojanas, and is equally broad and round on its sides.
On the western half of the island, Mānasa, the earth-bearing mountain, stands alone, a single great peak, divided into two by its formation.
On that island, two auspicious and holy regions are remembered, Rājata and Mānasya, lying around the mountain.
The region called Mahāvīta is outside Mānasa, and the inner region is known as Dhātakīkhaṇḍa.
The lotus continent is surrounded on all sides by the ocean of sweet water and curds, and it is as vast as the expanse of the continent of Puṣkara.
In extent and circumference, Puṣkara is equal; in this way, the seven continents are each encircled by seven oceans.
The ocean that follows each continent is the seventh; thus, the increase of continents and oceans should be understood as occurring one after another.
Beyond Puṣkara, following in succession, stands the great ocean of sweet water, which encircles everything on all sides.
Beyond that, a great golden land is seen, twice as large, and entirely resembling a single slab of stone, where the worlds are established.
Beyond that is a mountain, marking the boundary of the circle, both luminous and non-luminous; it is called Lokāloka.
As far as the visible and invisible mountain extends, so far does this earth reach, O twice-born; its height is said to be ten thousand yojanas.
Such is also the breadth of the great mountain Lokāloka; in its nearer half, the rays of the sun move.
But in the farther half, there is perpetual darkness; therefore, it is called Lokāloka. Thus, the extent of the earth-world has been briefly described.
From the sun to the region of the earth and heaven, up to the pole star, O best of sages, the seven rims of the wind, beginning with Āvaha, are established.
Āvaha, Pravaha, then Anuvaha, Saṃvaha, Vivaha, and then above, Parāvaha.
O twice-born, Parivaha is the seventh; these are the seven rims of the wind. Likewise, the clouds, the sun, the moon, and the groups of stars.

The planets, the seven sages, and the pole star, O brāhmaṇas, are all arranged in order here, fifteen yojanas above the surface of the earth up to the pole star.
From the earth's surface to the sun's sphere is one hundred thousand yojanas; above that is the chariot of the sun, sixteen thousand yojanas higher.
Above the earth, Meru is eighty-four thousand yojanas high; spanning ten million yojanas from the pole star is the Maharloka, the world above the pole star.
From Maharloka to Janaloka is, likewise, two crores, O twice-born; from Janaloka to Tapoloka is said to be four crores.

From the world of Prajāpati to Brahmaloka is six crores in extent; these seven virtuous worlds have been described within this cosmic egg, O twice-born.
Below are the seven netherworlds, and the hells, which are in crores; and, ending with Māyā, there are twenty-eight dreadful ones.
The sinful are tormented there according to their own deeds; all the hells such as Avīci and Raurava are found among them.
They say that each has five particular hells; at the beginning of the cosmic egg, I described its coverings as well.
