The eldest was known as Nābhi; his younger brother was Kiṃpuruṣa; the third was Harivarṣa, and the fourth was Ilāvṛta.

The fifth was Ramya, the sixth is called Hiraṇmān, the seventh was Kuru, the eighth was Bhadrāśva.
The ninth was Ketumāla; now hear of their regions. To Nābhi, the southern region called Hema was given by their father.

Thus, these nine great regions were divided; in each of these regions, Āgnīdhra installed his sons as rulers.
That righteous one, following the proper order, then remained engaged in austerity, purified by penance and devoted to self-study.
After being devoted to self-study, he became absorbed in meditation on Śiva; these eight auspicious regions, beginning with Kiṃpuruṣa, are described.
By their very nature, the inhabitants there attain perfection easily and without effort; they do not experience the opposites, nor do they have old age or death.

In the Rudra-kshetras, both moving and unmoving beings who die, as well as devoted and incidental followers, go to those regions.

For their welfare, Rudra created these eight regions; there, the great god always manifests his presence for them.
Seeing the great god in their hearts, the inhabitants of the eight regions always remain happy; for them, he alone is the supreme goal here.
Now I will speak of the origin of Nābhi; listen as I explain. Nābhi, of great wisdom, begot a son by Merudevī.

Ṛṣabha, affectionate to his son, installed Bharata as king, relying on knowledge and detachment, having conquered the great serpents of the senses.
Having established the Supreme Self, the Lord, in his own self by complete absorption, he became naked, matted-haired, without food, clad in bark, and entered darkness.
Free from desire and doubt, he attained the supreme Śaiva state; he assigned the southern region of Himālaya to Bharata.
Therefore, the wise know that region as Bhārata after his name; Bharata's son was the learned and righteous Sumati.
Thereupon, in that realm, Bharata installed his son as king, relinquishing his own glory to him, and the king entered the forest.
