भगवन्देवदेवेश त्रियंबक वृषध्वज किमर्थं च स्मृता देव आज्ञापय महाद्युते
O Lord, God of gods, Three-eyed one, Bull-bannered, for what purpose have we been summoned, O radiant one? Command us.
किं सागराञ्शोषयामो यमं वा सह किङ्करैः हन्मो मृत्युसुतां मृत्युं पशुवद्धन्म पद्मजम्
Shall we dry up the oceans, or slay Yama with his attendants? Shall we kill the son of Death, Death himself, or the Lotus-born like beasts?
बद्ध्वेन्द्रं सह देवैश् च सह विष्णुं च वायुना आनयामः सुसंक्रुद्धा दैत्यान्वा सह दानवैः
Binding Indra with the gods, or Vishnu with the wind, shall we, greatly enraged, bring the demons and their hosts?
कस्याद्य व्यसनं घोरं करिष्यामस्तवाज्ञया कस्य वाद्योत्सवो देव सर्वकामसमृद्धये
Whose terrible calamity shall we bring about today at your command? Or whose festival, O God, for the fulfillment of all desires?
तांस्तथावादिनः सर्वान् गणेशान् सर्वसंमतान् उवाच देवः सम्पूज्य कोटिकोटिशतान्प्रभुः
To all those lords of hosts, honored by all, who spoke thus, the Lord, worshipping them, addressed the hundreds of millions.
शृणुध्वं यत्कृते यूयम् इहाहूता जगद्धिताः श्रुत्वा च प्रयतात्मानः कुरुध्वं तदशङ्किताः
Hear for what purpose you have been summoned here for the welfare of the world. Having listened, with focused minds, do this without hesitation.
नन्दीश्वरो ऽयं पुत्रो नः सर्वेषामीश्वरेश्वरः विप्रो ऽयं नायकश्चैव सेनानीर् वः समृद्धिमान्
This Nandi is our son, lord of all lords; he is a Brahmin, a leader, and your prosperous commander.
तमिमं मम संदेशाद् यूयं सर्वे ऽपि संमताः सेनान्यम् अभिषिञ्चध्वं महायोगपतिं पतिम्
By my command, all of you, esteemed ones, anoint him as commander, the great yogi, the master.
एवमुक्ता भगवता गणपाः सर्व एव ते एवमस्त्विति संमन्त्र्य संभारानाहरंस्ततः
Thus addressed by the Lord, all the hosts, after consulting, said, 'So be it,' and then brought the necessary items.
तस्य सर्वाश्रयं दिव्यं जांबूनदमयं शुभम् आसनं मेरुसंकाशं मनोहरम् उपाहरन्
They brought for him a divine seat, made of jambunada gold, splendid, resembling Mount Meru, and enchanting.
नैकस्तंभमयं चापि चामीकरवरप्रभम् मुक्तादामावलम्बं च मणिरत्नावभासितम्
It was not made from a single pillar, but shone with the splendor of fine gold, adorned with hanging pearl garlands and radiant with precious gems.
स्तंभैश् च वैडूर्यमयैः किङ्किणीजालसंवृतम् चारुरत्नकसंयुक्तं मण्डपं विश्वतोमुखम्
With pillars of beryl, enclosed by networks of tinkling bells, and embellished with exquisite jewels, the pavilion faced in all directions.
कृत्वा विन्यस्य तन्मध्ये तदासनवरं शुभम् तस्याग्रतः पादपीठं नीलवज्रावभासितम्
Having constructed and arranged within it that excellent and auspicious seat, in front of it was placed a footrest gleaming with blue sapphires.
चक्रुः पादप्रतिष्ठार्थं कलशौ चास्य पार्श्वगौ सम्पूर्णौ परमाम्भोभिर् अरविन्दावृताननौ
For the purpose of establishing the feet, they made two water vessels at its sides, filled with supreme water and their faces encircled by lotuses.
कलशानां सहस्रं तु सौवर्णं राजतं तथा ताम्रजं मृन्मयं चैव सर्वतीर्थाम्बुपूरितम्
A thousand water vessels of gold, silver, copper, and clay, all filled with water from every sacred place.
वासोयुगं तथा दिव्यं गन्धं दिव्यं तथैव च केयूरे कुण्डले चैव मुकुटं हारमेव च
Divine garments, divine fragrances, armlets, earrings, a crown, and a necklace were also provided.
छत्रं शतशलाकं च वालव्यजनमेव च दत्तं महात्मना तेन ब्रह्मणा परमेष्ठिना
A parasol with a hundred spokes and a yak-tail fan were given by the great-souled Brahma, the supreme lord.
शङ्खहाराङ्गगौरेण पृष्ठेनापि विराजितम् व्यजनं चन्द्रशुभ्रं च हेमदण्डं सुचामरम्
A fan, radiant with conch necklaces and fair limbs, and another, shining like the moon, with a golden handle and splendid yak-tail.
ऐरावतः सुप्रतीको गजावेतौ सुपूजितौ मुकुटं काञ्चनं चैव निर्मितं विश्वकर्मणा
Airavata, with a noble appearance, and another elephant were worshipped; a golden crown was crafted by Vishvakarma.
कुण्डले चामले दिव्ये वज्रं चैव वरायुधम् जांबूनदमयं सूत्रं केयूरद्वयमेव च
Divine, spotless earrings, the best weapon of thunderbolt, a thread made of gold, and two armlets.
सम्भाराणि तथान्यानि विविधानि बहून्यपि समन्तान् निन्युर् अव्यग्रा गणपा देवसंमताः
Various other materials, many and diverse, were brought from all sides by the Ganapas, esteemed by the gods, without hesitation.
ततो देवाश् च सेन्द्राश् च नारायणमुखास् तथा मुनयो भगवान्ब्रह्मा नवब्रह्माण एव च
Then the gods, along with Indra, those led by Narayana, the sages, the blessed Brahma, and the nine Brahmas.
देवैश् च लोकाः सर्वे ते ततो जग्मुर्मुदा युताः तेष्वागतेषु सर्वेषु भगवान्परमेश्वरः
All the worlds with their gods then came joyfully; when all had arrived, the blessed supreme lord.
सर्वकार्यविधिं कर्तुम् आदिदेश पितामहम् पितामहो ऽपि भगवान् नियोगादेव तस्य तु
Ordered Pitamaha to perform all the necessary rites; and Pitamaha, the blessed one, acted by his command.
चकार सर्वं भगवान् अभिषेकं समाहितः अर्चयित्वा ततो ब्रह्मा स्वयमेवाभ्यषेचयत्
The blessed one, with concentration, performed all the rites of consecration; then Brahma himself worshipped and anointed.
ततो विष्णुस्ततः शक्रो लोकपालास्तथैव च अभ्यषिञ्चन्त विधिवद् गणेन्द्रं शिवशासनात्
Then Vishnu, then Shakra, and the guardians of the worlds likewise anointed the lord of the Ganas according to the prescribed manner, by Shiva's command.
ऋषयस्तुष्टुवुश्चैव पिता महपुरोगमाः स्तुतवत्सु ततस्तेषु विष्णुः सर्वजगत्पतिः
The sages praised, and the ancestors led by the great ones also offered praise; as they were praised, Vishnu, lord of all the worlds.
शिरस्यञ्जलिमादाय तुष्टाव च समाहितः प्राञ्जलिः प्रणतो भूत्वा जयशब्दं चकार च
With hands joined on his head, he praised with concentration, bowing with folded hands, and uttered words of victory.
ततो गणाधिपाः सर्वे ततो देवास्ततो ऽसुराः एवं स्तुतश्चाभिषिक्तो देवैः सब्रह्मकैस्तदा
Then all the leaders of the hosts, then the gods, then the asuras, thus praised and consecrated him together with Brahma at that time.
उद्वाहश् च कृतस्तत्र नियोगात्परमेष्ठिनः मरुतां च सुता देवी सुयशाख्या बभूव या
There, by the command of the supreme lord, the marriage was performed; and the goddess, daughter of the Maruts, named Suyaśā, became his wife.
