रुद्रलोकं गमिष्यन्ति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम् पञ्चमे द्वापरे चैव व्यासस्तु सविता यदा

They will go to the world of Rudra, where return is difficult. In the fifth Dvapara, when Vyasa is Savita—

तदा चापि भविष्यामि कङ्को नाम महातपाः अनुग्रहार्थं लोकानां योगात्मैककलागतिः

Then also, I will become Kanka, a great ascetic, for the sake of blessing the worlds, possessing the single essence of yoga.

चत्वारस्तु महाभागा विमलाः शुद्धयोनयः शिष्या मम भविष्यन्ति योगात्मानो दृढव्रताः

Four highly fortunate, pure-born disciples of mine will be born, devoted to yoga and firm in their vows.

सनकः सनन्दनश् चैव प्रभुर्यश् च सनातनः विभुः सनत्कुमारश् च निर्ममा निरहंकृताः

Sanaka, Sanandana, the lord Sanātana, the mighty Sanatkumāra—these are without possessiveness and free from ego.

मत्समीपमुपेष्यन्ति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम् परीवर्ते पुनः षष्ठे मृत्युर्व्यासो यदा विभुः

They will come near to me, where return is exceedingly rare, at the end of the sixth cycle, when Vyāsa becomes Mṛtyu, the mighty one.

तदाप्यहं भविष्यामि लोगाक्षीर् नाम नामतः तत्रापि मम ते शिष्या योगात्मानो दृढव्रताः

Then too, I shall be present, known by the name Lokākṣīr; there also, my disciples will be those whose essence is yoga, firm in their vows.

भविष्यन्ति महाभागाश् चत्वारो लोकसंमताः सुधामा विरजाश्चैव शङ्खपाद्रज एव च

There will be four great and renowned ones, honored in the worlds: Sudhāmā, Virajā, Śaṅkhapād, and Raja.

योगात्मानो महात्मानः सर्वे वै दग्धकिल्बिषाः ते ऽपि तेनैव मार्गेण ध्यानयोगसमन्विताः

All of them, possessing the essence of yoga, great souls, their sins burned away, will proceed by that very path, endowed with the practice of meditative yoga.

मत्समीपं गमिष्यन्ति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम् सप्तमे परिवर्ते तु यदा व्यासः शतक्रतुः

They will reach my presence, where return is exceedingly rare; and in the seventh cycle, when Vyāsa is Śatakratu.

विभुनामा महातेजाः प्रथितः पूर्वजन्मनि तदाप्यहं भविष्यामि कलौ तस्मिन् युगान्तिके

There will be one named Vibhu, of great brilliance, renowned from a previous birth; then too, I shall be present at the end of that age, in the Kali era.

जैगीषव्यो विभुः ख्यातः सर्वेषां योगिनां वरः तत्रापि मम ते पुत्रा भविष्यन्ति युगे तथा

Jaigīṣavya, known as Vibhu, foremost among all yogins—there too, in that age, they will be my sons.

सारस्वतश् च मेघश् च मेघवाहः सुवाहनः ते ऽपि तेनैव मार्गेण ध्यानयोगपरायणाः

Sārasvata, Megha, Meghavāha, and Suvāhana—these also, by that very path, devoted to the practice of meditative yoga.

गमिष्यन्ति महात्मानो रुद्रलोकं निरामयम् वसिष्ठश्चाष्टमे व्यासः परीवर्ते भविष्यति

These great souls will go to Rudra’s world, free from affliction; and in the eighth cycle, Vasiṣṭha will become Vyāsa.

यदा तदा भविष्यामि नाम्नाहं दधिवाहनः तत्रापि मम ते पुत्रा योगात्मानो दृढव्रताः

At that time, I shall be known by the name Dadhivāhana; there too, my sons will be those whose essence is yoga, firm in their vows.

भविष्यन्ति महायोगा येषां नास्ति समो भुवि कपिलश्चासुरिश्चैव तथा पञ्चशिखो मुनिः

There will be great yogins, unequalled on earth: Kapila, Asuri, and likewise the sage Pañcaśikha.

बाष्कलश् च महायोगी धर्मात्मानो महौजसः प्राप्य माहेश्वरं योगं ज्ञानिनो दग्धकिल्बिषाः

And Bāṣkala, a great yogin, righteous and of great energy—having attained the Maheśvara yoga, wise and with their sins burned away.

मत्समीपं गमिष्यन्ति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम् परिवर्ते तु नवमे व्यासः सारस्वतो यदा

They too will come to my presence, where return is exceedingly rare; and in the ninth cycle, when Sārasvata becomes Vyāsa.

तदाप्यहं भविष्यामि ऋषभो नाम नामतः तत्रापि मम ते पुत्रा भविष्यन्ति महौजसः

Then too, I shall be present, known by the name Ṛṣabha; there also, my sons will be of great energy.

पराशरश् च गर्गश् च भार्गवाङ्गिरसौ तदा भविष्यन्ति महात्मानो ब्राह्मणा वेदपारगाः

Parāśara and Garga, Bhārgava and Āṅgirasa—at that time, these great souls, brāhmaṇas accomplished in the Vedas, will be present.

ध्यानमार्गं समासाद्य गमिष्यन्ति तथैव ते सर्वे तपोबलोत्कृष्टाः शापानुग्रहकोविदाः

Having attained the path of meditation, all of them, excelling in ascetic power, skilled in granting boons and curses, will likewise proceed.

ते ऽपि तेनैव मार्गेण योगोक्तेन तपस्विनः रुद्रलोकं गमिष्यन्ति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम्

They too, by that very path prescribed by yoga, being ascetics, will go to Rudra’s world, where return is exceedingly rare.

दशमे द्वापरे व्यासः त्रिपाद्वै नाम नामतः यदा भविष्यते विप्रस् तदाहं भविता मुनिः

In the tenth Dvapara, Vyasa will be known as Tripadvai by name; when that happens, O Brahmin, I shall become a sage.

हिमवच्छिखरे रम्ये भृगुतुङ्गे नगोत्तमे नाम्ना भृगोस्तु शिखरं प्रथितं देवपूजितम्

On the beautiful peak of the Himalayas, on the eminent mountain called Bhrigutunga, the summit of Bhrigu, renowned and worshipped by the gods.

तत्रापि मम ते पुत्रा भविष्यन्ति दृढव्रताः बलबन्धुर्निरामित्रः केतुशृङ्गस्तपोधनः

There too, my sons will be steadfast in their vows: Balabandhu, Niramitra, Ketushringa, and Tapodhana.

योगात्मानो महात्मानस् तपोयोगसमन्विताः रुद्रलोकं गमिष्यन्ति तपसा दग्धकिल्बिषाः

Possessed of yoga, great souls endowed with austerity and yoga, they will reach the world of Rudra, their sins burned away by penance.

एकादशे द्वापरे तु व्यासस्तु त्रिव्रतो यदा तदाप्यहं भविष्यामि गङ्गाद्वारे कलौ तथा

In the eleventh Dvapara, when Vyasa is called Trivrata, I too shall appear at the gateway of the Ganga in the Kali age.

उग्रो नाम महातेजाः सर्वलोकेषु विश्रुतः तत्रापि मम ते पुत्रा भविष्यन्ति महौजसः

Named Ugra, of great brilliance, renowned in all worlds, there too my sons will be of great energy.

लम्बोदरश् च लम्बाक्षो लम्बकेशः प्रलम्बकः प्राप्य माहेश्वरं योगं रुद्रलोकं गता हि ते

Lambodara, Lambaksha, Lambakesha, and Pralambaka, having attained the Maheshvara yoga, have indeed gone to the world of Rudra.

द्वादशे परिवर्ते तु शततेजा यदा मुनिः भविष्यति महातेजा व्यासस्तु कविसत्तमः

In the twelfth cycle, when the sage Shatateja, of great brilliance, becomes Vyasa, the foremost among poets.
