Smiling, the great god, born of Ṛg, Yajur, and Sāma, spoke: 'Not by austerity, nor by conduct, nor by the fruit of charity and righteousness—'
'Not by the fruit of pilgrimage, nor by sacrifices with abundant gifts, nor by study of the Vedas, nor by wealth, nor by knowledge—'
'It is not possible for men to see me here except by meditation. And in the seventh, the Vārāha, then, O grandsire—'
'In that kalpa, the Lord, the blessed one, illuminator of all worlds, and Manu Vaivasvata, will be your grandson.'
'Then, in the fourfold yuga, at the end of the age, for the sake of blessing the worlds and for the welfare of the Brāhmaṇas—'
'I will be born then, O Brahmā, again at the end of this age, with the beginning of the yuga, and in the first yuga of that kalpa.'
O Brahman, in the first Dvapara, when Vyasa himself, the lord, appeared, I came at the end of that age for the sake of the Brahmanas.

There, my disciples will also have topknots; at that time, their names will be Shveta, Shvetashikha, Shvetasya, and Shvetalohita.

When Vyasa, the Prajapati, will be known as Sadyo, then, for the welfare of the world, I will be called Sutara by name.
I will appear in that Kali age, desiring to bless my disciples. There also, my disciples will be renowned by name.

Then also, I will become Daman at the end of the age. There too, four sons of mine will be born.

Then also, I will become known as Suhotra by name. There too, my four sons will be ascetics rich in austerity.
They will be foremost among twice-born, devoted to yoga, firm in their vows: Sumukha, Durmukha, Durdara, and Duratikrama.
Having attained the subtle, pure path of yoga, freed from sin, they too, endowed with great energy, will follow the same yogic path.

Then also, I will become Kanka, a great ascetic, for the sake of blessing the worlds, possessing the single essence of yoga.

They will come near to me, where return is exceedingly rare, at the end of the sixth cycle, when Vyāsa becomes Mṛtyu, the mighty one.
Then too, I shall be present, known by the name Lokākṣīr; there also, my disciples will be those whose essence is yoga, firm in their vows.
