Hear now the sacred narrative of the divine, whose qualities and manifestations are sung in reverence by the wise. He is the Deliverer, the destroyer of evil deeds, unassailable and hard to endure, fearless and without beginning. He is the earth itself, the fortune of the worlds, crowned and exalted as the lord of the gods. He stands as the protector and sustainer of the universe, steadfast and adorned with beautiful armlets. He is the creator, the origin of all beings, affectionate and just, the leader who guides all. Distinguished, descended from Kaśyapa, he shines radiantly, formidable and of terrible valor. He is the sacred syllable, the one of sevenfold conduct, great-bodied and wielder of the great bow. He is the lord of birth, the great god, master of all scriptures, the essence of discernment between truth and untruth. His form is adorned, and he is adorned with ashes. He is the sage, victorious over Brahmins, beyond birth, death, and old age. He is sacrifice itself, the lord, performer, and end of sacrifice, ever unfailing in valor. He is the great Indra, difficult to bear, leader of armies, embodiment and vehicle of sacrifice, the origin of the five Brahmas, lord of all, pure in rising. He is self-born, without beginning or end, supporter of twenty-six and seven worlds, beloved of Gāyatrī, tall and majestic, the abode of the universe and the source of light. He is the child, the mountain-dweller, sovereign and well-armed, destroyer of a hundred gods, unfailing and destroyer of calamity. He is Mukunda, free from affliction. Self-luminous, he is the source of light, the light of the self, unwavering, tawny, with a tawny beard. Scripture is his eye, and he is the embodiment of the three Vedas. He is a mass of knowledge, greatly wise, without origin, the upheaval, known as Bhaga, Vivasvat, and Āditya. He is the teacher of yoga and Bṛhaspati. Of noble fame and industrious, ever united, composed of both being and non-being, adorned with a garland of stars, lord of the full moon, established in his own place, and the support of six. His hands are pure; he is the enemy of sin, possessing the maṇipūra center, swift as the mind, seated in the lotus of the heart, pure, peaceful, and the bull-bannered one. He is Viṣṇu, lord of the planets, dark-hued and capable, destroyer of misfortune, enemy of unrighteousness, invulnerable, invoked by many, and praised by men. His womb is Brahman, vast as the cosmos, the cow of righteousness, source of wealth, seeker of the world's welfare, well-gone, the youth, and master of auspicious knowledge. Golden-hued and radiant, he bears diverse beings, is sound itself, free from disease, overseer of discipline, friend of the world, and best among the twice-born. He is of great brilliance, abode of nectar, supreme in radiance, the maternal grandfather, the wind-god, the sky-farer, bearer of the serpent-garland. Pulastya, Pulaha, Agastya, Jātūkarṇya, and Parāśara are among his forms; he is knower of unobstructed dharma, the creator, and of far-reaching fame. Self-born and unrestrained, embodiment of Atri's knowledge, of great renown, the crest-jewel of the world, heroic, fierce, truthful, and of supreme valor. Serpent-like, of great cycles, the great tree, bearer of arts, ever-ornamenting, unmoving, shining, and of unsurpassed prowess. He is lord of swift sound, speedy and leaping, charioteer of the peacock, untouched, guest, Indra, destroyer, and remover of sin. Renowned among Vasus, leader of offerings, blazing, nourisher of all, ageless, remover of old age, red-hued, and son of Tanūnapāt. With dappled horses, born of the sky, of beautiful form, dispeller of darkness, summer heat, the burning one, cloud, winged, and conqueror of enemy cities. Breath from the mouth, well-formed, fragrant, of cool nature, spring, Mādhava, summer, Nabhasya, and bearer of seeds. He is Aṅgiras, son of Atri, pure, bearer of the universe, purifier, conqueror of many, Indra, knower of the three Vedas, and bearer of men. He is mind, intellect, ego, knower of the field, protector of the field, repository of energy, repository of knowledge, ripener, and creator of obstacles. He is lower, unsurpassed, to be known, eldest, abode of supreme good, mountain, hill, whose body is the mountain, enemy of the Dānavas, subduer of foes. Of beautiful intellect, father, remover of the world's pain, the four Vedas, of fourfold nature, four, and beloved of the four. He is the Veda, the complete Veda, deity of the holy places, abode of Śiva, of many forms, of great form, of all forms, both moving and unmoving. He is the upholder of justice, justice itself, accessible through justice, stainless, with a thousand heads, lord of the gods, and destroyer of all weapons. He is shaven-headed, deformed, terrifying, staff-bearing, self-restrained, supreme in virtues, tawny-eyed, golden-eyed, blue-throated, and free from disease. He has a thousand arms, is lord of all, the refuge of all, sustainer of all worlds, seated on a lotus, the supreme light, transcending high and low, and the highest fruit. He is wombed in the lotus, the great womb, the womb of the universe, discerning, knower of the highest and lowest, lord of seeds, beautiful-faced, and of mighty voice. He is the teacher of gods and demons, god of gods, worshipped by gods and demons, the great minister of gods and demons, and the great refuge of gods and demons. He is the god of gods, bestower of boons to divine sages, gods, and demons, lord of gods and demons, divine, and the great lord of gods and demons. He embodies all gods, is inconceivable, the soul of divinities, self-born, worthy of praise, without a master, tiger among gods, lion among gods, and the sun. He is the foremost among the best of the wise, supreme among all gods, devoted to the knowledge of Shiva, glorious, and fond of the peacock and Mount Shri. He is the pillar of victory, the distinguished pillar, the slayer of Narasimha, celibate, wanderer of worlds, follower of righteousness, and lord of wealth. He is Nandi, lord of Nandi, unclad, observer of the vow of nakedness, pure, overseer of the linga, overseer of the gods, overseer of the ages, and bringer of the ages. He is self-governed, governing, heaven, sound, whose voice is full of sound, overseer of seeds, creator of seeds, maker of wealth, and increaser of righteousness. He is deceit, free from deceit, great in deceit, great lord of all beings, dweller in the cremation ground, Tishya, the bridge, and of incomparable form. Such is the glory of the divine, limitless in form and attribute, the source and sustainer of all, beyond comprehension, yet ever present in the hearts of the wise and the devout.
