Ever revered by all the gods, the supreme ones among their hosts—Ganesha, the Lotus-born Brahma, Indra, Yama, Kubera, and many others—unceasingly praise their mother, the great goddess. She is celebrated as the destroyer of all calamities, the remover of suffering for her devotees, the auspicious one, and the vanquisher of all states of existence and becoming. This divine mother, the giver of both enjoyment and liberation, bestows these effortlessly upon her devotees; may she directly dispel my sin. Canda, lord of all hosts, emerged from the mouth of Shambhu. He is devoted to worship of Shiva, radiant in glory; may he dispel my sin. Then comes the son of Shalankayana, arisen from the plough, a lord who is the son-in-law of the Maruts, a god, and the supreme lord of all beings. All-pervading and all-seeing, Sharva, master resembling the lord of all, is accompanied by gods such as Narayana, Indra, Chandra, and the sun. With Siddhas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, spirits, creators of beings, serpents, sages, and the great-souled Brahma, he is praised as the lord of the three worlds, the sage dwelling within the city, always worshipped by all; may Nandi dispel my sin. Of great form and brilliance, there is another like Mahadeva, devoted to worship of Shiva, radiant in glory; may he dispel my sin. He breaks the peaks of Meru, Mandara, Kailasa, and other ridges, worshipped by the divine elephants such as Airavata and the guardians of the directions. His feet rest in the seven netherworlds, his thighs span the seven continents, his tusks reach into the seven oceans, and Shiva is the womb of all sacred waters. His body is the sky, his arms are the directions, his eyes are the moon, sun, and fire. He is the destroyer of the great demon-trees, mighty in the supreme knowledge of Brahman. Bound by divine ropes of Brahma and others, equipped with yogic bonds, he is tied to the pillar called the lotus of the heart, restraining activity. His face is that of the serpent king, surrounded by hundreds of millions of hosts, accomplished in meditation on Shiva; may he directly dispel my sin. Bhringi, with tawny eyes, covered in ashes, possessing a body, devoted to worship of Shiva, radiant in glory; may he dispel my sin. Skanda, with four bodies always, destroyer of all demons, bearer of the spear, tranquil commander, riding the peacock, is the glorious leader of the divine army; may he dispel my sin. Bhava, Sharva, Ishana, Rudra, and also Pashupati—all fierce and formidable forms, always devoted to worship of Shiva—may these manifestations of the supreme lord dispel sin. Mahadeva, Shiva, Rudra, Shankara, Nīlalohita, Ishana, Vijaya, Bhima, Devadeva, and Bhavodbhava; Kapalisha is to be known, and the Rudras, born from Rudra’s essence, endowed with Shiva’s salutation—may they remove my impurity. The sun, in its many forms—Vikartana, Vivasvan, Martanda, Bhaskara, Ravi, the illuminator and witness of worlds, Trivikrama—along with Aditya, Surya, Aṃśumān, Divakara, these twelve Adityas—may they remove my impurity. The elements and celestial bodies—sky, touch, light, taste, earth, the moon, the sun, the self, and the bodies spoken of by Shiva—may they remove my sin and destroy my fear. Vasava, Pavaka, Yama, Nirriti, Varuna, Vayu, Soma, Ishana, the blessed Hari, and Pitamaha, all devoted to meditation on Shiva, may these remove the sin committed by mind and action. Nabhas, Sparshana, Vayu, Anila, and Maruta; Prana, Pranesa, Jivesha, Maruta, spoken of by Shiva—all devoted to worship of Shiva—may they remove my impurity. Khecari, Vasucari, Brahmesha, Brahmabrahmadhi, Sushena, Shashvata, Prishtha, Supushta, and Mahabala—these are the Charanas of Shambhu, deeply devoted to his worship; may they remove all impurity and sin committed by me. The knower of mantras, master of mantras, wise king of mantras, worshipped by Siddhas, supreme among Siddhas, Siddha, bestower of all perfections—may all Siddhas, worshippers of Shiva’s abode, remove my impurity: Yaksha, Yakshesha, Dhanada, Jrimbhaka, Manibhadraka, Purnabhadreshvara, Mali, Shitikuṇḍali, Narendra, and Yaksheshas—may they remove my impurity. Ananta, Kulika, Vasuki, Takshaka, Karkotaka, Mahapadma, Shankhapala, and Mahabala, endowed with Shiva’s salutation, adorned with Shiva’s body—may they remove my sin, whether poison is immobile or moving. Vina-knower, Kinnara, Surasena, Pramardana, Atishaya the practitioner, Gita-knower, and Kinnaras, endowed with Shiva’s salutation, may they remove my impurity. Vidyadhara, Vibudha, treasury of knowledge, best among the learned—awakened, divine, prosperous, grateful, and of great renown—these are all the Vidyadharas, devoted to meditation upon Shiva; may they dispel terrible impurity by the grace of Mahadeva. Vamadeva, Mahajambha, Kalanemi of great strength, Sugriva, Mardaka, Pingala, Devamardana, Prahrada, Anuhrada, Samhrada, and the two Bashkalas, Jambha, Kumbha the magician, Kartavirya, Kritanjaya—these great-souled Asuras are devoted to Mahadeva. Thus, surrounded by the praise and worship of gods, sages, celestial beings, and all hosts, the devotee seeks the grace of the supreme lord and his retinue, praying that all impurity and sin be dispelled by their compassion and power.
