गच्छन्त्यपुनरावृत्तिं ज्ञाननिर्धूतकल्मषाः
Those whose impurities are destroyed by knowledge go to a state of non-return.
प्राप्यते न हि राजेन्द्र ततो मां शरणं व्रज
O king, it is not attained otherwise; therefore, take refuge in me.
मामुपास्य महाराज ततो यास्यासि तत्पदम्
By worshipping me, O king, you will then reach that state.
ज्ञायते न हि राजेन्द्र ततो मां शरणं व्रज
O king, it is not known otherwise; therefore, take refuge in me.
आराधय प्रयत्नेन ततो बन्धं प्रहास्यसि
Worship with effort, and then you will abandon bondage.
समाराधय भावेन ततो यास्यसि तत्पदम्
Worship with devotion, and then you will reach that state.
अनाद्यनन्तं परमं महेश्वरमजं शिवम्
The beginningless, infinite, supreme, great Lord, unborn and auspicious.
नित्यानन्दं निराभासं निर्गुणं तमसः परम्
Eternal bliss, without appearance, without qualities, beyond darkness.
स्वसंवेद्यमवेद्यं तत् परे व्योम्नि व्यवस्थितम्
That which is self-experienced, unknowable, established in the supreme space.
संसारसागरे घोरे जायन्ते च पुनः पुनः
In the terrible ocean of worldly existence, beings are born again and again.
अन्वेष्टव्यं हि तद् ब्रह्म जन्मबन्धनिवृत्तये
Indeed, that Brahman must be sought for the cessation of birth and bondage.
अधर्माभिनिवेशं च त्यक्त्वा वैराग्यमास्थितः
Having abandoned attachment to unrighteousness and established in dispassion.
अन्वीक्ष्य चात्मनात्मानं ब्रह्मभूयाय कल्पते
By discerning the self with the self, one becomes fit for Brahmanhood.
ऐश्वरीं परमां भक्तिं विन्देतानन्यगामिनीम्
He attains the highest divine devotion, unwavering and undivided.
सर्वसंसारनिर्मुक्तो ब्रह्मणेयवावतिष्ठते
Freed from all worldly existence, he abides in the essence of Brahman.
अनन्तस्याव्ययस्यैकः स्वात्माधारो महेश्वरः
The one foundation of the infinite and imperishable is the great Lord, who rests upon his own Self.
सर्वसंसारमुक्त्यर्थमीश्वरं सततं श्रय
For the sake of liberation from all worldly existence, always seek refuge in the Lord.
अन्वीक्ष्य चैतदखिलं यथेष्टं कर्तुमर्हसि
Having considered all this, you should act as you see fit.
विनिन्द्य दक्षं पितरं महेश्वरविनिन्दकम्
Reject Daksha, your father, who reviled the great Lord.
मेनादेहसमुत्पन्ना त्वामेव पितरं श्रिता
Born from Menā's body, I have taken you alone as my father.
प्रिदास्यसे मां रुद्राय स्वयंवरसमागमे
You will give me to Rudra at the assembly of the svayaṃvara.
त्वां नमस्यन्ति वै तात प्रसीदति च शङ्करः
O father, they indeed honor you, and Śaṅkara is pleased.
संपूज्य देवमीशानं शरण्यं शरणं व्रज
Having worshipped the god Īśāna, the shelter of all, take refuge in him.
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवीं प्राञ्जलिः पुनरब्रवीत्
Bowing his head to the goddess, with joined palms, he again spoke.
ज्ञानं चैवात्मनो योगं साधनानि प्रचक्ष्व मे
Tell me the knowledge of the Self, yoga, and the means of attainment.
यथावद् व्याजहारेशासाधनानिच विस्तरात्
She explained properly and in detail the means of attaining the Lord.
लोकमातुः परं ज्ञानं योगासक्तो ऽभवत्पुनः
Again, he became devoted to yoga, possessing the supreme knowledge of the Mother of the world.
नियोगाद् ब्रह्मणः साध्वीं देवानां चैव संनिधौ
By the command of Brahmā, and in the presence of the gods, that virtuous lady—
शिवस्य संनिधौ भक्त्या सुचिस्तद्भावभावितः
In the presence of Śiva, with devotion, pure and filled with that state—
उल्लङ्घ्य ब्रह्मणो लोकन्देव्याः स्थानमवाप्नुयात्
Surpassing the worlds of Brahmā, one attains the abode of the goddess.
