Kurma Purana

नमामि सत्यं तमसः परस्तात्

I bow to the Truth, which is beyond darkness.

तदेव रूपं शरणं प्रपद्ये

I seek refuge in that very form.

प्राणाभिधानं प्रणतो ऽस्मि रूपम्

I bow to the form known as Prāṇa.

नमामि रूपं पुरुषाभिधानम्

I honor the form called Puruṣa.

नतो ऽस्मि ते रूपमलुप्तभेदम्

I bow to your form, which never loses its distinctions.

समन्वितं देवि नतो ऽस्मि रूपम्

O Goddess, I bow to your form endowed with all qualities.

नतो ऽस्मि रूपं जगदण्डसंज्ञम्

I bow to the form known as the cosmic egg.

नमामि रूपं रविमण्डलस्थम्

I honor the form abiding in the solar orb.

नारायणाख्यं प्रणतो ऽस्मि रूपम्

I bow to the form called Nārāyaṇa.

नमामि रूपं तव कालसंज्ञम्

I honor your form known as Time.

नतो ऽस्मि रूपं तव शेषसंज्ञम्

I bow to your form known as Śeṣa.

नतो ऽस्मि रूपं तव रुद्रसंज्ञम्

I bow to your form known as Rudra.

नमामि ते रूपमिदं नमासि

I honor this form of yours, which is to be revered.

नमो भगवतीशानि शिवायै ते नमो नमः

Salutations to you, O divine Lady, O auspicious one, I bow again and again.

त्वामेव शरणं यास्ये प्रसीद परमेश्वरि

I will take refuge in you alone; be gracious, O Supreme Lady.

जगन्मातैव मत्पुत्री संभूता तपसा यतः

The mother of the universe has become my daughter, born of my austerity.

मेनाशेषजगन्मातुरहो वुण्यस्य गौरवम्

Ah, the greatness of Menā, mother of all worlds, is indeed wondrous.

नमामि तव पादाब्जं व्रजामि शरणं शिवाम्

I honor your lotus feet; I seek refuge in the auspicious one.

आज्ञापय महादेवि किं करिष्यामि शङ्करि

Command me, O great goddess, O Śaṅkarī, what shall I do?

संप्रेक्षणमाणो गिरिजां प्राञ्जलिः पार्श्वतो ऽभवत्

Observing Girijā, he stood nearby with joined palms.

सस्मितं प्राह पितरं स्मृत्वा पशुपतिं पतिम्

With a smile, she spoke to her father, remembering Paśupati, her husband.

उपदेशं गिरिश्रेष्ठ सेवितं ब्रह्मवादिभिः

The supreme teaching, honored by the knowers of Brahman, was imparted.

सर्वशक्तिसमायुक्तमनन्तं प्रेरकं परम्

It is endowed with all powers, infinite, the supreme mover.

तन्निष्ठस्तत्परो भूत्वा तदेव शरणं व्रज

Be steadfast and devoted to that alone; seek refuge in that alone.

सर्वयज्ञतपोदानैस्तदेवार्चय सर्वदा

Worship that alone always, with all sacrifices, austerities, and gifts.

ममोपदेशात् संसारं नाशयामि तवानघ

By my instruction, O sinless one, I destroy your bondage to worldly existence.

संसारसागरादस्मादुद्धराम्यचिरेण तु

From this ocean of worldly existence, I will quickly lift you up.

प्राप्याहं ते गिरिश्रेष्ठ नान्यथा कर्मकोटिभिः

You will attain me, O best of mountains, not otherwise, even by millions of actions.

अध्यात्मज्ञानसहितं मुक्तये सततं कुरु

Always practice, for liberation, that which is united with knowledge of the Self.
