धाराधरा वरारोहा वरावरसहस्त्रदा
Bearer of streams, of excellent form, giver of countless boons both great and small.

कर्णिकारकरा कक्ष्या कंसप्राणापहारिणी
Her enclosure is adorned with golden champaka flowers, and she is the taker of Kaṃsa’s life-breath.
प्रत्यक्षदेवता दिव्या दिव्यगन्धा दिवापरा
She is the manifest divine goddess, possessing celestial fragrance, and is beyond the day.
इष्टा विशिष्टा शिष्टेष्टा शिष्टाशिष्टप्रपूजिता
She is desired, most excellent, cherished by the noble, and worshipped by both the worthy and unworthy.
सुरेन्द्रमाता सुद्युम्ना सुषुम्ना सूर्यसंस्थिता
She is the mother of the lord of the gods, radiant, of subtle channel, and established in the sun.
धर्मशास्त्रार्थकुशला धर्मज्ञा धर्मवाहना
She is skilled in the meaning of the Dharma-śāstras, knower of righteousness, and bearer of Dharma.
धर्मशक्तिर्धर्ममयी विधर्मा विश्वधर्मिणी
She is the power of Dharma, composed of Dharma, transcending unrighteousness, and the universal upholder of Dharma.
धर्मोपदेष्ट्री धर्मत्मा धर्मगम्या धराधरा
She is the teacher of Dharma, of righteous nature, attainable through Dharma, and the support of the earth.
सर्वशक्तिविनिर्मुक्ता सर्वशक्त्याश्रयाश्रया
She is free from all powers, and yet is the refuge of all powers and their source.
सदाशिवा वियन्मूर्तिर्विश्वमूर्तिरमूर्तिका
She is ever-auspicious, of the form of space, of universal form, and yet formless.
भूयः प्रणम्य भीतात्मा प्रोवाचेदं कृताञ्जलिः
Again, bowing with fear in his heart, he spoke these words with joined palms.
भीतो ऽस्मि साम्प्रतं दृष्ट्वा रूपमन्यत् प्रदर्शय
I am now afraid, having seen this form; show me another form.
संहृत्य दर्शयामास स्वरूपमपरं पुनः
Withdrawing that form, she then revealed another of her own forms.
द्विनेत्रं द्विभुजं सौम्यं नीलालकविभूषितम्

प्रसन्नवदनं दिव्यमनन्तमहिमास्पदम्

भीतिं संत्यज्य हृष्टात्मा बभाषे परमेश्वरीम्
Casting off fear, his heart gladdened, he spoke to the supreme goddess.
यन्मे साक्षात् त्वमव्यक्ताप्रसन्ना दृष्टिगोचरा
O you who are directly present before me, unmanifest and gracious, visible to my sight—
त्वय्येव लीयते देवि त्वमेव च परा गतिः
O Goddess, everything dissolves into you alone, and you alone are the supreme goal.
अपरे परमार्थज्ञाः शिवेति शिवसंश्रये
Others, who know the highest truth, call you Śiva, the refuge of auspiciousness.
अविद्या नियतिर्माया कलाद्याः शतशो ऽभवन्
Ignorance, limitation, illusion, and countless powers such as the elements have arisen.
सर्वभेदविनिर्मुक्ता सर्वेभेदाश्रया निजा
You are free from all distinctions, yet all distinctions rest in your own being.
प्रधानाद्यं जगत् कृत्स्नं करोति विकरोति च
From the primordial substance, you create and transform the entire universe.
त्वमेव परमानन्दस्त्वमेवानन्ददायिनी
You alone are supreme bliss; you alone are the giver of bliss.
