दिव्यदृष्टिप्रदानं च ब्रह्मणः परमेष्ठिनः
The granting of divine vision by Brahmā, the supreme lord, has been told.
प्रसादो गिरिशस्याथ वरदानं तथैव च
The favor of Giriśa and likewise the granting of boons have been described.
वरदानं तथापूर्वमन्तर्धानं पिनाकिनः
The unprecedented granting of boons and the disappearance of Pinākin have also been narrated.
अवतारो ऽथ देवस्य ब्रह्मणो नाभिपङ्कजात्
The descent of the Lord, born from the navel-lotus of Brahmā, has been told.
विमोहो ब्रह्मणश्चाथ संज्ञालाभो हरेस्ततः
The delusion of Brahmā and then the receiving of a name by Hari have been recounted.
प्रादुर्भावो महेशस्य ललाटात् कथितस्ततः
The manifestation of Maheśa from the forehead has then been described.
भूतिश्च देवदेवस्य वरदानोपदेशकौ
The prosperity of the god of gods and the instructions regarding the granting of boons have been told.
दर्शनं देवदेवस्य नरनारीशरीरता
The vision of the god of gods, and his form as both man and woman, have been described.
देव्यास्तु पश्चात् कथितं दक्षपुत्रीत्वमेव च
Afterwards, the account of the goddess and her becoming the daughter of Dakṣa has been narrated.
दर्शनं दिव्यरूपस्य वैश्वरूपस्य दर्शनम्
The vision of the divine form and the vision of the universal form have been described.
उपदेशो महादेव्या वरदानं तथैव च
The instruction of the great goddess and likewise the granting of boons.
प्राचेतसत्वं दक्षस्य दक्षयज्ञविमर्दनम्
The becoming of Dakṣa as a son of Pracetas, and the destruction of Dakṣa’s sacrifice.
ततश्च शापः कथितो मुनीनां मुनिपुङ्गवाः
Then, O foremost of sages, the curse pronounced by the sages is described.
पितामहस्योपदेशः कीर्त्यते रक्षणाय तु
The instruction of the Grandfather is recounted for the sake of protection.
हिरण्यकशिपोर्नाशो हिरण्याक्षवधस्तथा
The destruction of Hiraṇyakaśipu and likewise the slaying of Hiraṇyākṣa.
निग्रहश्चान्धकस्याथ गाणपत्यमनुत्तमम्
Then the subjugation of Andhaka, and the supreme leadership of Gaṇapati.
बाणस्य निग्रहश्चाथ प्रसादस्तस्य शूलिनः
Then the subjugation of Bāṇa, and the favor shown to him by the wielder of the trident.
वसुदेवात् ततो विष्णोरुत्पत्तिः स्वेच्छया हरेः
Thereafter, from Vasudeva, the birth of Viṣṇu—Hari—by his own will.
वरलाभो महादेवं दृष्ट्वा साम्बं त्रिलोचनम्
The obtaining of a boon after seeing the great god, the three-eyed one, along with his son.
ततश्च कथ्यते भीतिर्द्वारिवत्या निवासिनाम्
Then is described the fear of the inhabitants of Dvāravatī.
नारादागमनं चैव यात्रा चैव गरुत्मतः
Also the coming of Nārada, and the journey of Garuḍa.
नैत्यकं वासुदेवस्य शिवलिङ्गार्चनं तथा
The daily worship of the liṅga by Vāsudeva, and likewise the worship of the liṅga.
लिङ्गार्चननिमित्तं च लिङ्गस्यापि सलिङ्गिनः
And the reason for the worship of the liṅga, and also of the liṅga-bearing one.
ब्रह्मविष्णोस्तथा मध्ये कीर्तितो मुनिपुङ्गवाः
O foremost of sages, what is recounted in the midst of Brahmā and Viṣṇu.
संस्तवो देवदेवस्य प्रसादः परमेष्ठिनः
The praise of the god of gods, and the favor of the Supreme Lord.
कीर्तिता चानिरुद्धस्य समुत्पत्तिर्द्विजोत्तमाः
And, O best of twice-born, the origin of Aniruddha is recounted.
अनुवशासितं च कृष्णेन वरदानं महात्मनः
And the boon granted by the great-souled Kṛṣṇa after being entreated.
कृष्णद्वैपायनस्योक्ता युगधर्माः सनातनाः
The eternal duties of the ages, as declared by Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana, are told.
पाराशर्यस्य च मुनेर्व्यासस्याद्भुतकर्मणः
And of the sage Parāśarya, Vyāsa, whose deeds are wondrous,
उद्वासनं च कथितं वरदानं तथैव च
His banishment has been described, as well as the granting of boons.
