तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
There, having bathed, O king, a man is honored in Brahma's world.
वराहतीर्थ माख्यातं विष्णुलोकगतिप्रदम्
The Varaha Tirtha is proclaimed, granting the path to Vishnu's world.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र चन्द्रलोके महीयते
There, merely by bathing, a man is honored in the world of the moon.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र पृथिव्यामेकराड् भवेत्
There, merely by bathing, a man becomes the sole ruler on earth.
तत्र स्नात्वा च राजेन्द्र दैवतैः सह मोदते
There, having bathed, O king of kings, he rejoices together with the gods.
यत् तत्र दीयते दानं सर्वं कोटिगुणं भवेत्
Whatever gift is given there becomes multiplied a hundred million times.
यत्तत्र क्रियते श्राद्धं सर्वं तदक्षयं भवेत्
Whatever śrāddha is performed there, all of it becomes imperishable.
विधूय सर्वपापानि ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
Having cast off all sins, one is honored in the world of Brahma.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् दैवतैः सह मोदते
Having bathed there, O King, a man rejoices together with the gods.
स्नात्वा तत्र नरो राजन् रुद्रलोके महीयते
Having bathed there, O King, a man is honored in the realm of Rudra.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् दुर्गतिं नैव गच्छति
Having bathed there, O King, a man does not go to a bad state.
क्रीडते नाकलोकस्थो ह्यप्सरोभिः स मोदते
Dwelling in heaven, he plays and delights with the apsarases.
अस्मिंस्तीर्थे मृतो राजन् गाणपत्यमवाप्नुयात्
Dying at this sacred place, O King, one attains the state of Gaṇapati.
अश्वमेधाद् दशगुणं प्रवदन्ति मनीषिणः
The wise declare it to be ten times greater than an Aśvamedha sacrifice.
वृषयुक्तेन यानेन रुद्रलोकं स गच्छति
With a chariot yoked to bulls, he goes to the realm of Rudra.
सर्वपापविशुद्धात्मा रुद्रलोकं स गच्छति
With his soul purified from all sins, he goes to the realm of Rudra.
हंसयुक्तेन यानेन स्वर्गलोकं स गच्छति
With a chariot yoked to swans, he goes to the world of heaven.
तत्र तीर्थं महापुण्यं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्
There is a sacred ford of great merit, the destroyer of all sins.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेन्द्र मुच्यते ब्रह्महत्यया
Having bathed there, O best of kings, one is freed from the sin of killing a Brahmin.
जमदग्निरिति ख्यातः सिद्धो यत्र जनार्दनः
There Janārdana is known as the accomplished one called Jamadagni.
त्रिगुणं चाश्वमेधस्य फलं प्राप्नोति मानवः
A man obtains three times the fruit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice.

Having bathed there, O King, a man is honored in the realm of Rudra.
सप्तजन्मकृतं पापं हित्वा याति शिवालयम्
Casting off the sin accumulated over seven births, he goes to the abode of Śiva.
अस्य तीर्थस्य माहात्म्यान्मुच्यते ब्रह्महत्यया
By the greatness of this sacred place, one is freed from the sin of killing a Brahmin.
न शक्या विस्तराद् वक्तुं संख्या तीर्थेषुपाण्डव
O Pāṇḍava, it is not possible to recount in detail the number of holy places.
नर्मदा सरितां श्रेष्ठा महादेवस्य वल्लभा
The Narmadā is the foremost of rivers, beloved of Mahādeva.
चान्द्रायणशतं साग्रं लभते नात्र संशयः
One obtains the merit of a hundred Cāndrāyaṇa vows, with nothing lacking; of this there is no doubt.
पतन्ति नरके घोरे इत्याह परमेश्वरः
Those who fall into terrible hell—so declares the Supreme Lord.
तेन पुण्या नदी ज्ञेया ब्रह्महत्यापहारिणी
Therefore, know this river as holy, the remover of the sin of killing a brāhmaṇa.
महादेवप्रियकरं महापातकनाशनम्
It brings delight to Mahādeva and destroys great sins.
