एकविंशत्कुलोपेतो न च्यवेदैश्वरात् पदात्
Accompanied by twenty-one generations, he does not fall from the divine state.
न तां गतिमवाप्नोति शुक्लतीर्थे तु यां लभेत्
No other path grants the state that is attained at Śuklatīrtha.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् पुनर्जन्म न विन्दति
Having bathed there, O king, a man does not take birth again.
स्नात्वा तु सोपवासः सन् विजितात्मा समाहितः
Bathing with fasting, self-control, and concentration—
एतत् तीर्थप्रभावेण सर्वं भवति चाक्षयम्
By the power of this holy place, all becomes imperishable.
उद्वादयति यस्तीर्थे तस्य पुण्यफलं शृणु
Hear the merit gained by one who marries at this holy place.
तावद् वर्षसहस्राणि रुद्रलोके महीयते
He is honored in Rudra's world for thousands of years.
स्नानं कृत्वा नक्तभीजी न पश्येद् योनिसङ्कटम्
Having bathed, one who eats only at night does not see the distress of the womb.
ब्राह्मणं भोजयेदेकं कोटिर्भवति भोजिताः
Feeding a single brāhmaṇa is as if feeding a crore.
नर्मदोदकसंमिश्रं मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः
One who uses water mixed with Narmadā water is freed from all sins.
गङ्गावतरते तत्र दिने पुण्ये न संशयः
On that auspicious day, the descent of the Ganges takes place there, without doubt.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तो ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
Freed from all sins, one is honored in the world of Brahma.
प्रीयते तस्य नन्दीशः सोमलोके महीयते
Nandīśa is pleased with him, and he is honored in the realm of Soma.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् नरकं नैव पश्यति
Having bathed there, O King, a man does not see hell at all.
रूपवान् जायते लोके धनभोगसमन्वितः
He is born in the world with beauty and endowed with wealth and enjoyments.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् गोसहस्रफलं लभेत्
Having bathed there, O King, a man obtains the fruit of a thousand cows.
तत्रोपोष्य नरो भक्त्या दद्याद् दीपं घृतेन तु
There, having fasted with devotion, one should offer a lamp with ghee.
घण्टाभरणसंयुक्तां कपिलां वै प्रदापयेत्
He should give a tawny cow adorned with a bell as a gift.
शिवतुल्यबलो भूत्वा शिववत् क्रीडते चिरम्
Becoming equal in strength to Shiva, he enjoys for a long time like Shiva.
स्नापयित्वा शिवं दद्याद् ब्राह्मणेभ्यस्तु भोजनम्
After bathing Shiva, he should give food to the Brahmins.
गत्वा शक्रस्य भवनं शक्रेण सह मोदते
Having gone to the abode of Shakra, he delights together with Shakra.
स्नापयेत् तत्र यत्नेन रूपवान् सुभगो भवेत्
One who bathes there with effort becomes handsome and fortunate.
श्रावणे मासी संप्राप्ते कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दशी
When the month of Shrāvaṇa arrives, on the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight,
पितॄणां तर्पणं कृत्वा मुच्यते ऽसावॄणत्रयात्
Having performed the offering to the ancestors, he is freed from the three debts.
आजन्मजनितैः पापैर्मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
He is freed from sins committed since birth; there is no doubt about this.
दशाश्वमेधिकं तीर्थं त्रिषु लोकेषु विश्रुतम्
The holy place, famed in the three worlds, is equal to ten Ashvamedha sacrifices.
अमावस्यां नरः स्नात्वा पूजयेद् वृषभध्वजम्
On the new moon day, a man, having bathed, should worship the Lord with the bull banner.
गत्वा रुद्रपुरं रम्यं रुद्रेण सह मोदते
Having gone to the delightful city of Rudra, he rejoices together with Rudra.
पितॄणां तर्पणं कुर्यादश्वमेधफलं लभेत्
One who performs the offering to the ancestors obtains the fruit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice.
तत्र देवो भृगुः पुर्वं रुद्रमाराधयत् पुरा
There, the god Bhrigu formerly worshipped Rudra in ancient times.
