अहोरात्रोपवासेन ब्रह्महत्यां व्यपोहति
By fasting there for a day and night, one removes the sin of killing a Brahmin.
कामतीर्थमिति ख्यातं यत्र कामोर्ऽचयद् भवम्
It is known as Kamatirtha, where Kama worshipped Bhava.
कुसुमायुधरूपेण रुद्रोलोके महीयते
In the form of the god of love, one is honored in the world of Rudra.
उमाहकमिति ख्यातं तत्र संतर्पयेत् पितॄन्
It is called Umahaka; there, one should satisfy the ancestors.
गजरूपा शिला तत्र तोयमध्ये व्यवस्थिता
There, a stone in the form of an elephant stands in the midst of the water.
तृप्यन्ति पितरस्तस्य यावत् तिष्ठति मेदिनी
The ancestors of the one who offers there are satisfied as long as the earth endures.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र गाणपत्यपदं लभेत्
A man who bathes there attains the state of Ganapati.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेन्द्र विष्णुलोके महीयते
O king, by bathing there, one is honored in the world of Vishnu.
स्वात्मानं दर्शयामास लिङ्गं तत् परमं पदम्
He revealed himself as the linga, that supreme abode.
पिण्डप्रिदानं च कृतं प्रेत्यानन्तफलप्रदम्
And the offering of rice-balls made there grants endless rewards after death.
तारिताः पितरस्तेन तृप्यन्त्याचन्द्रतारकम्
By that act, the ancestors are delivered and satisfied as long as the moon and stars endure.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेन्द्र प्राप्नुयात् तपसः फलम्
O king, by bathing there, one obtains the fruit of austerity.
नास्ति तेन सम तीर्थं नर्मदायां युधिष्ठिर
There is no holy place on the Narmadā equal to this, O Yudhiṣṭhira.
होमाच्चैवोपवासाच्च शुक्लतीर्थे महत् फलम्
By performing oblations and fasting at Śuklatīrtha, one attains great merit.
शुक्लतीर्थमिति ख्यातं सर्वपापविनाशनम्
Śuklatīrtha is renowned as the destroyer of all sins.
देव्या सह सदा भर्गस्तत्र तिष्ठति शङ्करः
There, Bharga always abides with the goddess, O Śaṅkara.
कैलासाच्चाभिनिष्क्रम्य तत्र सन्निहितो हरः
Having come forth from Kailāsa, Hara is present there.
गणाश्चाप्सरसां नागास्तत्र तिष्ठन्ति पुङ्गव
There, O best of men, hosts of divine beings, celestial nymphs, and serpents reside.
स्नानं दानं तपः श्राद्धमनन्तं तत्र दृश्यते
There, bathing, giving, austerity, and ancestral rites are seen in endless measure.
अहोरात्रोपवासेन शुक्लतीर्थे व्यपोहति
By fasting day and night at Śuklatīrtha, one is purified.
एकविंशत्कुलोपेतो न च्यवेदैश्वरात् पदात्
Accompanied by twenty-one generations, he does not fall from the divine state.
न तां गतिमवाप्नोति शुक्लतीर्थे तु यां लभेत्
No other path grants the state that is attained at Śuklatīrtha.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् पुनर्जन्म न विन्दति
Having bathed there, O king, a man does not take birth again.
स्नात्वा तु सोपवासः सन् विजितात्मा समाहितः
Bathing with fasting, self-control, and concentration—
एतत् तीर्थप्रभावेण सर्वं भवति चाक्षयम्
By the power of this holy place, all becomes imperishable.
उद्वादयति यस्तीर्थे तस्य पुण्यफलं शृणु
Hear the merit gained by one who marries at this holy place.
तावद् वर्षसहस्राणि रुद्रलोके महीयते
He is honored in Rudra's world for thousands of years.
स्नानं कृत्वा नक्तभीजी न पश्येद् योनिसङ्कटम्
Having bathed, one who eats only at night does not see the distress of the womb.
ब्राह्मणं भोजयेदेकं कोटिर्भवति भोजिताः
Feeding a single brāhmaṇa is as if feeding a crore.
नर्मदोदकसंमिश्रं मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः
One who uses water mixed with Narmadā water is freed from all sins.
