तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् सिहासनपतिर्भवेत्
Having bathed there, O King, a man becomes lord of the lion-throne.
उपोष्य रजनीमेकां स्नानं कृत्वा यथाविधि
By fasting for one night and then bathing according to the proper rite,
गोसहस्रफलं प्राप्य विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति
He attains the fruit of a thousand cows and goes to the world of Vishnu.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र शिवलोके महीयते
A man who bathes there at once is honored in the world of Shiva.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र गोसहस्रफलं लभेत्
A man who bathes there at once obtains the fruit of a thousand cows.
प्रतीस्तस्य ददौ योगं देवदेवो महेश्वरः
To him who has arrived there, the great god Maheśvara grants union (yoga).
यत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
Where, having bathed, O King, a man is honored in the world of Brahma.
महेश्वरं ततो गच्छेत् पर्याप्तं जन्मनः फलम्
Then he goes to Maheśvara, having attained the full fruit of birth.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र सर्वदुःखैः प्रमुच्यते
A man who bathes there at once is freed from all sufferings.
अहोरात्रोपवासेन त्रिरात्रफलमाप्नुयात्
By fasting for a day and night, one obtains the fruit of a three-night fast.
तावद् वर्षसहस्राणि रुद्रलोके महीयते
He is honored in the world of Rudra for as many thousands of years.
अक्षयं मोदते कालं यावच्चन्द्रदिवाकरौ
He enjoys inexhaustible delight for as long as the moon and sun endure.
ते मृताः स्वर्गमायान्ति सन्तः सुकृतिनो यथा
When they die, the virtuous and the righteous go to heaven.
हुङ्कारिता तु व्यासेन दक्षिणेन ततो गता
But those dismissed by Vyāsa with the sound 'huṅ' then went to the south.
प्रीतस्तस्य भवेद् व्यासो वाञ्छितं लभते फलम्
If Vyāsa is pleased with him, he obtains the desired fruit.
तत्र स्तनात्वा नरो राजन् गाणपत्यमवाप्नुयात्
There, O King, by bathing, a man attains the state of Gaṇapati.
आजन्मनः कृतं पापं स्नातस्तीव्रं व्यपोहति
By bathing, one removes even the intense sin committed since birth.
उपासते महात्मानं स्कन्दं शक्तिधिरं प्रभुम्
They worship the great-souled Skanda, the powerful lord endowed with energy.
गोसहस्रफलं प्राप्य रुद्रलोकं स गच्छति
Having attained the merit equal to giving a thousand cows, he goes to the world of Rudra.
तपसाराध्य विश्वेशं लब्धवान् योगमुत्तमम्
By austerity, having worshipped the Lord of all, he has obtained the highest yoga.
स्नानं तत्र प्रकुर्वोत अश्वमेधफलं लभेत्
One who bathes there obtains the fruit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice.
तत्र स्त्रात्वा नरो राज्यं लभते नात्र संशयः
There, having bathed, a man attains sovereignty; there is no doubt about this.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र सोमलोके महीयते
Merely by bathing there, a man is honored in the realm of Soma.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन् सर्वयज्ञफलं लभेत्
O king, by bathing there, a man obtains the fruit of all sacrifices.
आदित्यायतनं रम्यमीश्वरेण तु भाषितम्
The delightful abode of the Sun was spoken of by the Lord.
तस्य तीर्थप्रभावेण लभते चाक्षयं फलम्
By the power of that sacred place, he obtains an imperishable reward.
मुच्यन्ते सर्वपापेभ्यः सूर्यलोकं प्रयान्ति च
They are freed from all sins and go to the world of the Sun.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र स्वर्गलोकमवाप्नुयात्
Merely by bathing there, a man attains the heavenly realm.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेन्द्र शुचिर्भूत्वा प्रयत्नतः
There, O king of kings, having bathed and become pure with effort,
पुष्पकेण विमानेन वायुलोकं स गच्छति
He goes to the realm of the wind in the celestial chariot called Pushpaka.
