ध्यायन्ति तत् परं व्योम वासुदेवं परं पदम्
They meditate upon that supreme sky, upon Vāsudeva, the highest abode.
पश्यन्ति परमं ब्रह्म विष्णवाख्यं तमसः परं
They behold the supreme Brahman, known as Viṣṇu, who is beyond darkness.
सुपीतवाससः सर्वे श्रीवत्साङ्कितवक्षसः
All are clad in bright yellow garments, with chests marked by the Śrīvatsa.
स्वयोगोद्भूतकिरणा महागरुडवाहनाः
Their rays arise from their own yoga, and they ride upon the great Garuḍa.
वसन्ति तत्र पुरुषा विष्णोरन्तरचारिणः
There dwell those beings who move within Viṣṇu himself.
नारायणं नाम पुरं व्यासाद्यैरुपशोभितम्
There is a city named Nārāyaṇa, adorned by Vyāsa and others.
हर्म्यप्राकारसंयुक्तमट्टालकसमाकुलम्
It is furnished with mansions and ramparts, crowded with lofty towers.
शुभ्रास्तरणसंयुक्तं विचित्रैः समलङ्कृतम्
It is adorned with pure bedding and decorated with various ornaments.
सरोभिः सर्वतो युक्तं वीणावेणुनिनादितम्
It is surrounded on all sides by lakes, resounding with the music of vīṇās and flutes.
वीथीभिः सर्वतो युक्तं सोपानै रत्नभूषितैः
It is encircled on all sides by streets, with stairways adorned with jewels.
चतुर्द्वारमनौपम्यमगम्यं देवविद्विषाम्
It has four gates, is incomparable, and inaccessible to those who hate the gods.
नानागीतविधानज्ञैर्देवानामपि दुर्लभैः
It is filled with those skilled in various forms of song, rare even among the gods.
प्रभूतचन्द्रवदनैर्नूपुरारावसंयुतैः
There are many with faces like the moon, adorned with the sound of anklets.
अशेषविभवोपेतैर्भूषितैस्तनुमध्यमैः
They are endowed with all kinds of wealth, adorned, and slender-waisted.
संलापालापकुशलैर्दिव्याभरणभूषैतैः
They are skilled in conversation and speech, adorned with divine ornaments.
नानावर्णविचित्राङ्गैर्नानाभोगरतिप्रियैः
Their bodies are wondrous with various colors, fond of diverse enjoyments and pleasures.
असंख्येयगुणं शुद्धमागम्यं त्रिदशैरपि
It possesses countless pure qualities, unattainable even by the gods.
तस्य मध्ये ऽतितेजस्कमुच्चप्राकारतोरणम्
In its midst stands a gateway of surpassing brilliance, with high ramparts.
शेते ऽशेषजगत्सूतिः शेषाहिशयने हरिः
Hari, the source of all worlds, lies upon the serpent Śeṣa.
स्वात्मानन्दामृतं पीत्वा परं तत् तमसः परम्
Drinking the nectar of his own bliss, he is supreme, beyond darkness.
क्षीरोदकन्यया नित्यं गृहीतचरणद्वयः
With both feet held by the daughter of the Ocean of Milk, always.
समास्ते तन्मना नित्यं पीत्वा नारायणामृतम्
She remains there, her mind fixed on him, ever drinking the nectar of Nārāyaṇa.
वैकुण्ठं नाम तत् स्थानं त्रिदशैरपि वन्दितम्
That place is called Vaikuṇṭha, revered even by the gods.
एतावच्छक्यते वक्तुं नारायणपुरं हि तत्
Only this much can be spoken; that is truly the city of Nārāyaṇa.
शेते नारायणः श्रीमान् मायया मोहयञ्जगत्
Nārāyaṇa, resplendent, lies there, deluding the world by his māyā.
तमेवाभ्येति कल्पान्ते स एव परमा गतिः
At the end of the age, all return to him; he alone is the supreme goal.
क्षीरार्णवं समाश्रित्य द्वीपः पुष्करसंवृतः
Relying on the Ocean of Milk is an island encircled by a lotus.
तावदेव च विस्तीर्णः सर्वतः परिमण्डलः
It is vast to that extent, perfectly round on all sides.
एक एव महासानुः संनिवेशाद् द्विधा कृतः
There is one great mountain, divided into two by its arrangement.
महावीतं स्मृतं वर्षं धातकीखण्डमेव च
The region called Mahāvīta and the land of Dhātakī are known there.
