पर्णाशा वन्दना चैव सदानीरा मनोरमा
Parṇāśā and Vandanā, and also the ever-flowing, delightful Sadānīrā,
शिग्रुः स्वशिल्पापि तथा पारियात्राश्रयाः स्मृताः
Śigru and Svaśilpā as well, are remembered as resting on the Pāriyātra mountains.
मन्दाकिनी चित्रकूटा तामसी च पिशाचिका
Mandākinī, Citrakūṭā, Tāmasī, and Piśācikā,
ऋक्षवत्पादजा नद्यः सर्वपापहरा नृणाम्
The rivers born at the foot of Ṛkṣavat remove all sins of men.
वेण्या वैतरणी चैव बलाका च कुमुद्वती
Veṇyā, Vaitaraṇī, Balākā, and Kumudvatī,
विन्ध्यपादप्रसूतास्ता नद्यः पुण्यजलाः शुभाः
These auspicious rivers of holy waters arise from the foot of the Vindhya mountains.
दक्षिणापथगा नद्यः सह्यपादविनिः सृताः
The rivers of the southern region flow forth from the foot of the Sahya mountains.
मलयान्निः सृता नद्यः सर्वाः शीतजलाः स्मृताः
All the rivers issuing from Malaya are known to have cool waters.
शुक्तिमत्पादसंजाताः सर्वपापहरा नृणाम्
Those born at the foot of Śuktimat remove all sins of men.
सर्वपापहराः पुण्याः स्नानदानादिकर्मसु
All these rivers are holy and remove all sins, especially through bathing, giving, and other rites.
पूर्वदेशादिकाश्चैव कामरूपनिवासिनः
There are also the inhabitants of the eastern regions, who dwell in whatever forms they desire.
तथापरान्ताः सौराष्ट्राः शूद्राभीरास्तथार्ऽबुदाः
Likewise, those at the western ends: the Saurāṣṭras, Śūdras, Ābhīras, and also the Arbuda people.
सौवीराः सैन्धवा हूणा शाल्वाः कल्पनिवासिनः
The Sauvīras, Saindhavas, Hūṇas, and Śālvas dwell in that region.
आसां पिबन्ति सलिलं वसन्ति सरितां सदा
They always drink the water and reside along the rivers.
कृतं त्रेता द्वापरं च कलिश्चान्यत्र न क्वचित्
The Kṛta, Tretā, Dvāpara, and Kali ages do not exist elsewhere at all.
न तेषु शोको नायासो नोद्वेगः क्षुद्भयं न च
Among them there is no sorrow, no fatigue, no distress, nor fear of hunger.
रमन्ति विविधैर्भावैः सर्वाश्च स्थिरयौवनाः
They delight in various pleasures, and all remain ever youthful.
स्फाटिकं देवदेवस्य विमानं परमेष्ठिनः
The celestial palace of the Lord of gods, the Supreme Lord, is made of crystal.
देवाः सिद्धगणा यक्षाः पूजां नित्यं प्रकुर्वते
Gods, hosts of Siddhas, and Yakṣas always perform worship there.
भूतैः परिवृतो नित्यं भाति तत्र पिनाकधृक्
There, the bearer of the bow Pināka shines, always surrounded by spirits.
तत्रापि देवदेवस्य भवस्यायतनं महत्
There too is the great abode of Bhava, the Lord of gods.
नदी नानाविधैः पद्मैरनेकैः समलङ्कृता
A river adorned with many kinds of lotuses flows there.
उपस्पृष्टजला नित्यं सुपुण्या सुमनोरमा
Its waters are always pure, highly sacred, and most delightful.
देवर्षिगणजुष्टानि तथा नारायणस्य च
It is frequented by hosts of divine sages, as well as by Nārāyaṇa.
स्फाटिकस्तम्भसंयुक्तं हेमगोपुरसंयुतम्
There is a mansion with crystal pillars and golden gateways.
सुपुण्यं भवनं रम्यं सर्वरत्नोपशोभितम्
A supremely sacred, beautiful dwelling, adorned with every kind of jewel.
आस्ते सर्वामरश्रेष्ठः पूज्यमानः सनातनः
There abides the eternal, most excellent of all immortals, being worshipped.
स्थानानामष्टकं पुण्यं दुराधर्षं सुरद्विषाम्
There are eight sacred places, difficult for the enemies of the gods to approach.
सप्ताश्रमाणि पुण्यानि सिद्धावासयुतानि तु
There are seven holy hermitages, inhabited by Siddhas.
सुपुण्यं सुमहत् स्थानं ब्रह्मणो ऽव्यक्तजन्मनः
There is the supremely sacred and vast abode of Brahmā, the one of unmanifest birth.
