सन्ति चैवान्तरद्रोण्यः सरांसि च वनानि च
There are also inner valleys, lakes, and forests.
प्रसन्नाः शान्तरजसः सर्वदुः खविवर्जिताः
They are clear, with tranquil dust, and free from all suffering.
मेरोरुपरि विख्याता देवदेवस्य वेधसः
Above Meru is the renowned abode of the god of gods, the Creator.
उपास्यमानो योगीन्द्रैर्मुनीन्द्रोपेन्द्रशङ्करैः
It is worshipped by the lords of yogis, sages, Upendra, and Śaṅkara.
सनत्कुमारो भगवानुपास्ते नित्यमेव हि
Sanatkumāra, the blessed one, always worships there.
समास्ते योगयुक्तत्मा पीत्वा तत्परमामृतम्
He remains there, his soul united with yoga, having drunk that supreme nectar.
दीप्तमायतनं शुभ्रं पुरस्ताद् ब्रह्मणः स्थितम्
A radiant, pure abode stands before Brahmā.
महर्षिगणसंकीर्णं ब्रह्मविद्भिर्निषेवितम्
It is crowded with hosts of great sages and attended by knowers of Brahman.
रमते तत्र विश्वेशः प्रमथैः प्रमथेश्वरः
There, the Lord of the universe delights with the Pramathas, as their Lord.
पूजयन्ति महादेवं तापसाः सत्यवादिनः
Ascetics who speak the truth worship Mahādeva there.
गृह्णाति पूजां शिरसा पार्वत्या परमेश्वरः
The Supreme Lord accepts the worship of Pārvatī with reverence.
नाम्नामरावती पूर्वे सर्वशोभासमन्विता
In the east is the city named Amarāvatī, endowed with every kind of splendor.
उपासते सहस्त्राक्षं देवास्तत्र सहस्त्रशः
There, thousands of gods worship the thousand-eyed one.
तेषां तत् परमं स्थानं देवानामपि दुर्लभम्
That supreme abode of theirs is difficult even for the gods to attain.
तेजोवती नाम पुरी दिव्याश्चर्यसमन्विता
There is a city called Tejovatī, filled with divine wonders.
जपिनां होमिनां स्थानं दानवानां दुरासदम्
It is the place for those who recite and perform sacrifices, and is unassailable by demons.
नाम्ना संयमनी दिव्या सिद्धगन्धर्वसेविता
There is a divine city named Saṃyamanī, served by Siddhas and Gandharvas.
स्थानं तत् सत्यसंधानां लोके पुण्यकृतां नृणाम्
That is the abode of those steadfast in truth, the righteous people in the world.
रक्षोवती नाम पुरी राक्षसैः सर्वतो वृता
There is a city called Rakṣovatī, surrounded on all sides by Rākṣasas.
गच्छन्ति तां धर्मरता ये वै तामसवृत्तयः
Those who are devoted to unrighteousness and have tamasic tendencies go there.
नाम्ना सुद्धवती पुण्या सर्वकामर्धिसंयुता
There is a holy city named Suddhavatī, endowed with all desired enjoyments.
तीर्थयात्रापरी नित्यं ये च लोके ऽधमर्षिणः
Those who constantly undertake pilgrimages and are patient in this world reach it.
नाम्ना गन्धवती पुण्या तत्रास्ते ऽसौ प्रभञ्जनः
There is a holy city named Gandhavatī, where Prabhañjana resides.
प्राणायामपरामर्त्यास्थानन्तद्यान्ति शाश्वतम्
Those who have mastered prāṇāyāma attain that eternal, immortal abode.
नाम्ना कान्तिमती शुभ्रा तत्र सोमो विराजते
There is a radiant city named Kāntimatī, where Soma shines.
तेषां तद् रचितं स्थानं नानाभोगसमन्वितम्
That place, created for them, is endowed with various enjoyments.
नाम्ना यशोवती पुण्या सर्वेषां सुदुरासदा
There is a holy city named Yaśovatī, exceedingly difficult for all to approach.
घमेश्वरस्य विपुलं तत्रास्ते स गणैर्वृतः
There dwells the mighty Lord of Hosts, surrounded by his attendants.
निवासः कल्पितः पूर्वं देवदेवेन शूलिना
A dwelling was established in ancient times by the god Shiva, the wielder of the trident.
समन्ताद् ब्रह्मणः पुर्यां गङ्गा पतति वै दिवः
All around the city of Brahma, the Ganga descends from the heavens.
