सरित् प्रवर्तते चापि पीयते तत्र वासिभिः
A river arises there, and it is drunk by the inhabitants.
तत्पानात् सुस्थमनसां नराणां तत्र जायते
By drinking that, people there become of sound mind.
जाम्बूनदाख्यं भवति सुवर्णं सिद्धभूषणम्
From that, gold called Jāmbūnada is produced, fit for the adornment of the perfected.
वर्षे द्वे तु मुनिश्रेष्ठास्तयोर्मध्ये इलावृतम्
O best of sages, between those two regions lies Ilāvṛta.
वैभ्राजं पश्चिमे विद्यादुत्तरे सवितुर्वनम्
Know Vaibhrāja to be in the west, and in the north, the forest of Savitṛ.
सरांस्येतानि चत्वारि देवयोग्यानि सर्वदा
These four lakes are always fit for the gods.
वैकङ्को मणिशैलश्च ऋक्षवांश्चाचलोत्तमाः
Vaikaṅka, Maṇiśaila, and Ṛkṣavān are the foremost mountains.
इत्येते देवरचिताः सिद्धावासाः प्रकीर्तिताः
Thus these, created by the gods, are declared to be the abodes of the perfected.
त्रिकूटशिखरश्चैव पतङ्गो रुचकस्तथा
Trikūṭa, Śikhara, Pataṅga, and also Rucaka are named.
समूलो वसुधारश्च कुरवश्चैव सानुमान्
Samūla, Vasudhāra, and the Kurus, as well as Sānumān, are mentioned.
एकशृङ्गो महाशैलो गजशैलः पिशाचकः
Ekaśṛṅga, the great mountain, Gajaśaila, and Piśācaka.
इत्येते देवचरिता उत्कटाः पर्वतोत्तमाः
Thus these, famed for divine deeds, are the most excellent and mighty mountains.
शिखिवासश्च वैदूर्यः कपिलो गन्धमादनः
Śikhivāsa, Vaidūrya, Kapila, and Gandhamādana—
सुपार्श्वश्च सुपक्षश्च कङ्कः कपिल एव च
Supārśva, Supakṣa, Kaṅka, and also Kapila—
अञ्जनो मधुमांस्तद्वत् कुमुदो मुकुटस्तथा
Añjana, Madhumāṃs, likewise Kumuda, and also Mukuṭa—
पारिजातो महाशैलस्तथैव कपिलोदकः
Pārijāta, the great mountain, and likewise Kapilodaka—
एते पर्वतराजानः सिद्धगन्धर्वसेविताः
These are the kingly mountains, attended by Siddhas and Gandharvas.
शङ्खकूटो ऽथ वृषभो हंसो नागस्तथा परः
Śaṅkhakūṭa, then Vṛṣabha, Haṃsa, and another called Nāga—
मयूरः कपिलश्चैव महाकपिल एव च
Mayūra, Kapila, and also Mahākapila—
सरसो मानसस्येह उत्तरे केसराचलाः
On the northern side of Lake Mānasā, are the Kesarācalas.
सन्ति चैवान्तरद्रोण्यः सरांसि च वनानि च
There are also inner valleys, lakes, and forests.
प्रसन्नाः शान्तरजसः सर्वदुः खविवर्जिताः
They are clear, with tranquil dust, and free from all suffering.
मेरोरुपरि विख्याता देवदेवस्य वेधसः
Above Meru is the renowned abode of the god of gods, the Creator.
उपास्यमानो योगीन्द्रैर्मुनीन्द्रोपेन्द्रशङ्करैः
It is worshipped by the lords of yogis, sages, Upendra, and Śaṅkara.
सनत्कुमारो भगवानुपास्ते नित्यमेव हि
Sanatkumāra, the blessed one, always worships there.
समास्ते योगयुक्तत्मा पीत्वा तत्परमामृतम्
He remains there, his soul united with yoga, having drunk that supreme nectar.
दीप्तमायतनं शुभ्रं पुरस्ताद् ब्रह्मणः स्थितम्
A radiant, pure abode stands before Brahmā.
महर्षिगणसंकीर्णं ब्रह्मविद्भिर्निषेवितम्
It is crowded with hosts of great sages and attended by knowers of Brahman.
रमते तत्र विश्वेशः प्रमथैः प्रमथेश्वरः
There, the Lord of the universe delights with the Pramathas, as their Lord.
पूजयन्ति महादेवं तापसाः सत्यवादिनः
Ascetics who speak the truth worship Mahādeva there.
