लोकत्रयं भवता भावदत्तम्
The three worlds have been given existence by you.
त्रिविक्रमायामितविक्रमाय
To Trivikrama, whose stride is immeasurable,
पातालमूलं प्रविशेति भूयः
Again, you enter down to the root of the underworld.
प्रवेक्ष्यसे कल्पदाहे पुनर्माम्
At the destruction of the world-age, you will again enter me.
पुरन्दराय त्रैलोक्यं ददौ विष्णुरुरुक्रमः
Vishnu, the great-striding one, gave the three worlds to Purandara.
ब्रह्मा शक्रो ऽथ भगवान् रुद्रादित्यमरुद्गणाः
Then Brahma, Shakra, the Blessed One, Rudra, the Adityas, and the hosts of Maruts—
पश्यतामेव सर्वेषां तत्रैवान्तरधीयत
While all of them were watching, right there he disappeared.
प्रह्लादेनासुरवरैर्विष्णुना विष्णुतत्परः
Prahlada, foremost among the Asuras, devoted to Vishnu, by Vishnu—
पूजाविधानं प्रह्लादं तदाहासौ चकार सः
At that time, he instructed Prahlada in the method of worship.
प्रणतगतिं प्रणिधाय कर्मयोगम्
Having established the path of devotion and the discipline of action,
स देवकार्याणि सदा करोति पुरुषोत्तमः
That supreme person always performs the tasks of the gods.
तेषां प्रधानो द्युतिमान् बाणो नाम महाबलः
Their chief was Bana by name, radiant and of great might.
त्रैलोक्यं वशमानीय बाधयामास वासवम्
Having brought the three worlds under his control, Bana began to harass Vasava.
त्वदीयो बाधते ह्यस्मान् बाणो नाम महासुरः
Bana, the great Asura belonging to you, is indeed oppressing us.
ददाह बाणस्य पुरं शरेणैकेन लीलया
He burned Bana's city with a single arrow, effortlessly.
ययौ शरणमीशानं गोपतिं नीललोहितम्
He went for refuge to Ishana, the lord of herds, blue and red in hue.
निर्गत्य तु पुरात् तस्मात् तुष्टाव परमेश्वरम्
Having come out from that city, he praised the Supreme Lord.
गाणपत्येन बाणं तं योजयामास भावतः
With devotion, he fitted that arrow with the mantra of Ganesha.
स्वर्भानुर्वृषपर्वा च प्राधान्येन प्रकीर्तिताः
Svarbhanu and Vrishaparvan are mentioned as the foremost.
अनेकशिरसां तद्वत् खेचराणां महात्मनाम्
Likewise, among the celestial beings of great might, there are many with numerous heads.
अनन्ताद्या महानागाः काद्रवेयाः प्रकीर्तिताः
The great serpents beginning with Ananta, born of Kadru, are renowned.
शुकीं श्येनीं च भासीं च सुग्रीवाङ्गृध्रिकां शुचिम्
Śukī, Śyenī, Bhāsī, Sugrīvā, Ṛkṣikā, and Śuci were born.
इरा वृक्षलतावल्लीस्तृणजातीश्च सर्वशः
Irā gave birth to all kinds of trees, creepers, vines, and all species of grass.
रक्षोगणं क्रोधवशा जनयामास सत्तमाः
The excellent ones gave birth to the host of Rākṣasas, compelled by anger.
प्रसादाच्छूनिलः प्राप्तो वाहनत्वं हरेः स्वयम्
By grace, Śūnīla himself attained the status of being the vehicle of Hari.
सारथ्ये कल्पितः पूर्वं प्रीतेनार्कस्य शंभुना
Formerly, out of affection, Śambhu appointed him as the charioteer of the Sun.
वैवस्वते ऽन्ते ह्यस्मिञ्छृण्वतां पापनाशनाः
At the end of the age of Vaivasvata, for those who listen, sins are destroyed.
अरिष्टनेमिपत्नीनामपत्यानीह षोडश
Here, the wives of Ariṣṭanemi bore sixteen children.
तद्वदङ्गिरसः पुत्रा ऋषयो ब्रह्मसत्कृताः
Likewise, the sons of Aṅgiras, sages honored by Brahmā, were born.
मन्वन्तरेषु नियतं तुल्यैः कार्यैः स्वनामभिः
In each Manvantara, they are established with similar duties and their own names.
