उवाच भगवान् विष्णुर्देवदेवं स्मयन्निव
The blessed Viṣṇu, smiling, addressed the god of gods.
नेक्षते ऽज्ञानजान् दोषान् गृह्णाति च गुणानपि
He does not observe faults born of ignorance, and he accepts virtues as well.
सकेशवः सहान्धको जगाम शङ्करान्तिकम्
With Keśava and Andhaka together, he went to the presence of Śaṅkara.
समाधवं समातृकं जगाम निर्वृतिं हरः
Hara attained perfect union and contentment, along with Mādhava and Mātrika.
जगाम यत्र शैलजा विमानमीशवल्लभा
He went to where the daughter of the mountain, beloved of the Lord, resided in her celestial abode.
अवाप सान्धकं सुखं प्रसादमन्धकं प्रति
He obtained supreme happiness for Andhaka, granting favor to Andhaka.
पपात दण्डवत्क्षितौ ननाम पादपद्मयोः
He fell prostrate upon the ground, bowing at the lotus feet.
यतः प्रधानपूरुषौ निहन्ति याखिलं जगत्
For the primordial Purusha destroys all the universe.
हिरण्मये ऽतिनिर्मले नमामि तामिमामजाम्
I bow to her, the golden, supremely pure, unborn and undying.
नमामि यत्र तामुमामशेषबेदवर्जिताम्
I bow to her, where she is, free from all distinctions and divisions.
नमामि या गुणातिगा गिरीशपुत्रिकामिमाम्
I bow to her who transcends qualities, this daughter of the mountain lord.
सुरासुरैर्यदर्चितं नमामि ते पदाम्बुजम्
I bow to your lotus feet, worshipped by gods and demons alike.
संस्तुता दैत्यपतिना पुत्रत्वे जगृहे ऽन्धकम्
Praised by the lord of the demons, she accepted Andhaka as her son.
जगामानुज्ञया शंभोः पातालं परमेश्वरः
By the permission of Śambhu, the supreme lord, he went to the netherworld.
समास्ते हरिरव्यक्तो नृसिंहाकृतिरीश्वरः
Hari, unmanifest, remained there, the lord in the form of Narasiṃha.
कालाग्निरुद्रो भगवान् युयोजात्मानमात्मनि
The blessed Kālāgni Rudra united his self with the Self.
बुभुक्षिता महादेवं प्रणम्याहुस्त्रिशूलिनम्
Hungry, they bowed to Mahadeva, the wielder of the trident, and spoke.
त्रैलोक्यं भक्षयिष्यामो नान्यथा तृप्तिरस्तिनः
We shall devour the three worlds; only then will our hunger be satisfied.
भक्षयाञ्चक्रिरे सर्वं त्रैलोक्यं सचराचरम्
They began to consume all of the three worlds, with its moving and unmoving beings.
दध्यौ नारायणं देवं क्षणात्प्रादुरभूद्धरिः
Narayana, the divine one, contemplated, and Hari appeared instantly.
निवारयाशु त्रैलोक्यं त्वदीया भगवन्निति
O Lord, quickly protect the three worlds, for they are yours.
उपतस्थुर्महादेवं नरसिंहाकृतिं च तम्
They approached Mahadeva and him who had the form of Narasimha.
प्रददुः शंभवे शक्तिं भैरवायातितेजसे
They gave their power to Shambhu, to Bhairava of immense energy.
क्षणादेकत्वमापन्नं शेषाहिं चापि मातरः
In a moment, the mothers and the serpent Shesha became one.
ये च मां संस्मरन्तीह पालनीयाः प्रयत्नतः
Those who remember me here must be carefully protected.
महेश्वरांशसंभूता भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदा त्वियम्
Born from a portion of Maheshvara, she grants both enjoyment and liberation.
तामसी राजसी मूर्तिर्देवदेवश्चतुर्मुखः
Her form is tamasic and rajasic; the god of gods is four-faced.
भक्षयिष्यति कल्पान्ते रुद्रात्मा निखिलं जगत्
At the end of the aeon, Rudra will devour the entire universe.
सत्त्वोद्रिक्ताजगत् कृत्स्नं संस्थापयति नित्यदा
When sattva prevails, he always establishes the whole world.
मूलप्रकृतिरव्यक्ता सदानन्देति कथ्यते
The root nature, unmanifest, is called eternal bliss.
