पूर्वादिषु प्रदेशेषु ह्येतास्तु परिपूजयेत् 34.
In the regions beginning with the east, indeed, these should be duly worshipped.
पूजयेत्परमां देवीं लक्ष्मीं लक्ष्मीप्रदां शुभाम् 34.
One should worship the supreme goddess Lakshmi, bestower of prosperity and auspiciousness.
खड्गं च मुसलं पाशमंकुशं सशरं धनुः 34.
The sword, the mace, the noose, the goad, the bow with arrows—
श्रीवत्सं कौस्तुभं मालां तथा पीताम्बरं शुभम् 34.
Śrīvatsa, Kaustubha, the garland, and the auspicious yellow garment—
ब्रह्माणं नारदं सिद्धं गुरुं परगुरुं तथा 34.
Brahmā, Nārada, the perfected sage, the teacher, and the supreme teacher as well—
इन्द्रं सवाहनं चाथ परिवारयुतं तथा 34.
Indra with his vehicle, and likewise those surrounded by attendants—
सोममीशानमेवं वै ब्रह्माणं परिपूजयेत् 34.
Soma, Īśāna, and thus Brahmā should be duly worshipped.
वज्रं शक्तिं तथा दण्डं खङ्गं पाशं ध्वजं गदाम् 34.
The thunderbolt, the spear, likewise the staff, the sword, the noose, the banner, and the mace—
विष्वक्सेनं ततो देवमैशान्यां दिशि पूजयेत् 34.
Then Viṣvaksena, the god, should be worshipped in the north-east direction.
पूजा कार्य्या महादेव ह्यनन्तस्य वृषध्वज 34.
Worship should be performed for Mahādeva, for Ananta, and for Vṛṣadhvaja.
गन्धं पुष्पं तथा धूपं दीपं नैवेद्यमेव च 34.
Fragrant substances, flowers, incense, lamp, and food offering as well—
स्तुवीत चान्या स्तुत्या प्रणवाद्यैर्वृषध्वज 34.
One should praise with other hymns, beginning with the sacred syllable Om, O Vṛṣadhvaja.
नमो विद्यास्वरूपाय विद्यादात्रे नमोनमः 34.
Salutations to the embodiment of knowledge, repeated salutations to the giver of knowledge.
सुरासुरनिहन्त्रे च सर्वदुष्टविनाशिने 34.
To the destroyer of gods and demons, to the destroyer of all wicked beings—
नमश्चेश्वरवन्द्याय शङ्कचक्रधारय च 34.
Salutations to the one worshipped by the lord of lords, to the bearer of conch and discus.
त्रिगुणायागुणायैव ब्रह्मविष्णुस्वरूपिणे 34.
To the one of three qualities, yet beyond qualities, to the one who embodies Brahmā and Viṣṇu.
इत्येवं संस्तवं कृत्वा देवदेवं विचिन्तयेत् 34.
Having thus performed this hymn of praise, one should contemplate the Lord of gods.
सूर्यकोटिप्रतीकाशं सर्वावयवसुन्दरम् 34.
He is resplendent like ten million suns, beautiful in every limb.
इति ते कथिता पूजा हयग्रीवस्य शङ्कर 34.
Thus, O Śaṅkara, the worship of Hayagrīva has been described to you.
न्यासादिकं प्रवक्ष्यामि गायत्र्याः शृणु शङ्कर 35.
I will explain the method of nyāsa and related rites of the Gāyatrī; listen, O Śaṅkara.
ब्रह्मशीर्षा रुद्रशिखा विष्णोर्हृदयसंश्रिता 35.
The Brahmaśīrṣā, Rudraśikhā, and Viṣṇu's heart are to be established.
त्रैलोक्यचरणा ज्ञेया पृथिवीकुक्षिसंस्थिता 35.
They are to be known as the support of the three worlds, abiding in the womb of the earth.
त्रिपदाष्टाक्षरा ज्ञेया चतुष्पादा षडक्षरा 35.
The three-footed, eight-syllabled form is to be known, and the four-footed, six-syllabled one as well.
न्यासे जपे तथा ध्याने अग्निकार्य्ये तथार्चने 35.
In nyāsa, recitation, meditation, fire rituals, and worship, likewise.
पादाङ्गुष्ठे गुल्फमध्ये जङ्घयोर्विद्धि जानुनोः 35.
On the big toe, in the middle of the ankle, on the shanks, and on the knees, know thus.
स्तनयोर्हृदि कण्ठौष्ठमुखे तालुनि चांसयोः 35.
On the breasts, heart, throat, lips, mouth, palate, and shoulders.
पश्चमे मूर्ध्नि चाकारं न्यसेद्वर्णान्वदाम्यहम् 35.
On the back of the head, and on the crown, one should place the letters as I declare.
श्वेतं विद्युत्प्रभं तारं कृष्णं रक्तं क्रमेण तत् 35.
White, shining like lightning, star-like, black, and red in order.
शङ्खवर्णं पाण्डुरं च रक्तं चासवसन्निभम् 35.
Conch-colored, pale, red, and resembling wine in hue.
यद्यत्स्पृशति हस्तेन यच्च पश्यति चक्षुषा 35.
Whatever is touched by the hand, and whatever is seen by the eye.
