यः पठेत्परया भक्त्या विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति स पापं भस्मसात्कृत्वा विष्णुलोकाय कल्पते ।। 33.
Whoever recites this with supreme devotion goes to Vishnu's world, having reduced sin to ashes, and becomes fit for Vishnu's realm.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे सुदर्शनपूजाविधिर्नाम त्रयस्त्रिंशोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Garuda Mahapurana, in the Purva-khanda, in the section called Achara-kanda, the thirty-third chapter named 'The Procedure for Sudarshana Worship' is concluded.
पुनर्देवार्चनं ब्रूहि हृषीकेश गदाधर 34.
Once again, tell me about the worship of the gods, O Hṛṣīkeśa, wielder of the mace.
हरिरुवाच तच्छृणुष्व जगन्नाथो येन विष्णुः प्रतुष्यति ।। 34.
Hari said: Listen to this, O Lord of the universe, by which Viṣṇu is pleased.
मूलमन्त्रं महादेव हयग्रीवस्य वाचकम् 34.
The root mantra, O great god, is the utterance of Hayagrīva.
ॐ सौं क्षौं शिरसे नमः इति प्रणवसंयुतः 34.
"Oṃ sauṃ kṣauṃ, obeisance to the head"—thus, united with the praṇava.
अस्याङ्गानि महादेव ताञ्छृणुष्व वृषध्वज ॐ क्षीं शिरसे स्वाहाशिरः प्रोक्तं क्षूं वषट् तथा ।। 34.
Hear now its limbs, O great god, O bull-bannered one: "Oṃ kṣīṃ, to the head, svāhā" is said for the head, and likewise "kṣūṃ, vaṣaṭ."
ॐ कारयुक्ता देवस्य शिखा ज्ञेया वृषध्वज 34.
"Oṃ" joined with "ka" is known as the deity's crest, O bull-bannered one.
ॐ क्षौं नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् नेत्रं देवस्य कीर्तितम् 34.
"Oṃ kṣauṃ, for the three eyes, vauṣaṭ"—the eye of the deity is thus declared.
पूजाविधिं प्रवक्ष्यामि तन्मे निगदतः श्रृणु आदौ स्नात्वा तथाचम्य ततो यागगृहं व्रजेत् ।। 34.
I will now explain the procedure of worship; listen to me as I tell it. First, after bathing and performing ācamana, one should then proceed to the place of worship.
ततः प्रविश्य विधिवत्कुर्य्याद्वं शोषणादिकम् 34.
Then, having entered properly, one should perform the acts of drying and the like.
अण्डमुत्पाद्य च ततः ॐ कारेणैव भेदयेत् 34.
Then, after producing an egg, one should break it with the syllable "Oṃ" alone.
शङ्खकुन्देन्दुधवलं मृणालरजतप्रभम् शङ्खं चक्रं गदां पद्मं धारयन्तं चतुर्भुजम् ।। 34.
White as a conch, jasmine, or the moon, shining like lotus-fiber or silver, bearing a conch, discus, mace, and lotus, with four arms—
किरीटिनं कुण्डलिनं वनमालासमंन्वितम् 34.
Wearing a crown, with earrings, adorned with a garland of forest flowers—
भावयित्वा महात्मानं सर्वदेवैः समन्वितम् 34.
Having meditated on the great soul, accompanied by all the gods—
ततश्च दर्शयेन्मुद्रां शङ्खपद्मादिकां शुभाम् 34.
Then one should display the auspicious mudrā, such as the conch and lotus.
ततश्चावाहयेद्रुद्र देवता आसनस्य याः 34.
Then one should invoke Rudra and the deities associated with the seat.
आवाह्य मण्डले तास्तु पूजयेत्स्वस्तिकादिके 34.
Having invoked them in the maṇḍala, one should worship them with the svastika and other marks.
समस्तपरिवाराय अच्युताय नम इति 34.
To Acyuta, along with all his attendants, obeisance.
यमुनां च महादेवीं शङ्खपद्मनिधई तथा 34.
And to Yamunā, the great goddess, and likewise to the conch and lotus treasures.
आधाराख्यां महादेव ततः कूर्मं समर्चयेत् 34.
Then, O Mahadeva, he should worship the Tortoise called the Support.
वैराग्यमथ चैश्वर्य्यमाग्नेयादिषु पूजयेत् 34.
Next, he should worship detachment and lordliness in the fire and other directions.
सत्त्वं रजस्तमश्चैव मध्यदेशेऽथ पूजयेत् 34.
He should worship sattva, rajas, and tamas in the central region.
अर्कसोमाग्निसंज्ञानां मण्डलानां हि पूजनम् 34.
Indeed, the worship of the circles named Sun, Moon, and Fire.
विमलोत्कर्षिणी ज्ञाना क्रियायोगे वृषध्वज 34.
O Vrishadhvaja, knowledge that is pure and uplifting, and action in union.
पूर्वादिषु च पत्रेषु पूज्याश्च विमलादयः 34.
In the eastern and other leaves, the pure and others are to be worshipped.
प्रणवाद्यैर्नमोऽन्तैश्च चतुर्थ्यन्तैश्च नामभिः 34.
With names beginning with the sacred syllable and ending with 'namah', and with names ending in the dative case.
स्नानगन्धप्रदानेन पुष्पधूपप्रदानतः 34.
By offering bath, fragrance, flowers, and incense.
कर्त्तव्यं विधिनानेन इति ते हर कीर्त्तितम् 34.
This should be done according to this procedure; thus it has been declared to you, O Hara.
वामनासापुटेनैव आगच्छन्तं विचिन्तयेत् 34.
He should imagine him coming with the Vamana gesture of the hands.
