भूय एवं जगन्नाथ पूजां कथय मे प्रभो 31.

Again, O Lord of the universe, tell me about the worship, O Master.

अर्च्चनं विष्णुदेवस्य वक्ष्यामि वृषभध्वज 31.

O Bull-bannered one, I shall now explain the worship of the god Vishnu.

कृत्वा स्नानं ततः सन्ध्यां ततो यागगृहं व्रजेत् 31.

After bathing, then performing the twilight ritual, one should proceed to the sacrificial chamber.

मूलमन्त्रं समस्तं तु हस्तयोर्व्यापकं न्यसेत् 31.

One should place the entire root mantra, pervading both hands.

ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीधराय विष्णवे नमः 31.

Om, śrīṃ, hrīṃ, obeisance to Śrīdhara Vishnu.

सर्वव्याधिहरश्चैव सर्वग्रहहरस्तथा 31.

He is the remover of all diseases and likewise the destroyer of all planetary afflictions.

अङ्गन्यासं ततः कुय्यांदेभिर्मन्त्रौर्विचक्षणः ॐ हीं शिरसे स्वाहा ॐ हैं कवचाय हुं ॐ हः अस्त्राय फट्‌ ।। 31.

Then, one skilled in mantras should perform the assignment of mantras to the limbs as follows: Om hīṃ, to the head, svāhā; Om haiṃ, to the armor, huṃ; Om haḥ, to the missile, phaṭ.

इति मन्त्रः समाख्यातो मया ते प्रभविष्णुना 31.

Thus, I have declared to you this mantra, O mighty Vishnu.

ततो ध्यायेत्परं विष्णु ह्रृत्कोटरसमाश्रितम् 31.

Then, one should meditate on the supreme Vishnu, abiding within the cavity of the heart.

श्रीवत्सकौस्तुभयुतं वनमालासमन्वितम् 31.

He is adorned with the Śrīvatsa mark and the Kaustubha gem, and is garlanded with a forest wreath.

अहं विष्णुरिति ध्यात्वा कृत्वा वै शोधनादिकम् 31.

Meditating, 'I am Vishnu,' and having performed the acts of purification and the like,

अण्डमुत्पाद्य च ततः प्रणवेनैव भेदयेत् 31.

Then, having produced the egg, one should break it with the syllable Om.

आत्मपूजां ततः कुर्य्याद्रन्धपुष्पादिभिः शुभैः 31.

After that, one should perform self-worship with auspicious incense, flowers, and so on.

मन्त्रैरेभिर्महादेव तन्मन्त्रं श्रृणु शंकर 31.

With these mantras, O Mahadeva, listen, O Shankara, to that mantra:

ॐ समस्तपरिवारायाच्युताय नमः ॐ विधात्रे नमः ॐ यमुनायै नमः ॐ पद्मनिधये नमः ॐ प्रचण्डाय नमः ॐ आधारशक्त्यै नमः ॐ अनन्ताय नमः ॐ धर्म्माय नमः ॐ वैराग्याय नमः ॐ अधर्म्माय नमः ॐ अवैराग्याय नमः ॐसं सत्त्वाय नमः ॐ तं तमसे नमः ॐ नं नालाय नमः ॐ अं अर्कमण्डलाय नमः ॐ वं वह्निमण्डलाय नमः ॐ उत्कर्षिण्यै नमः ॐ क्रियायै नमः ॐ प्रह्व्यै नमः ॐ ईशानायै नमः 31.

Om, obeisance to Acyuta, along with all his retinue; Om, obeisance to the Creator; Om, obeisance to Yamuna; Om, obeisance to the Lord of the Lotus; Om, obeisance to the Fierce One; Om, obeisance to the Supporting Power; Om, obeisance to the Infinite; Om, obeisance to Dharma; Om, obeisance to Dispassion; Om, obeisance to Adharma; Om, obeisance to Non-dispassion; Om, obeisance to Sattva; Om, obeisance to Tamas; Om, obeisance to Nala; Om, obeisance to the Solar Orb; Om, obeisance to the Fire Circle; Om, obeisance to the Uplifting One; Om, obeisance to Action; Om, obeisance to Humility; Om, obeisance to Īśānī.

गन्धपुष्पादिभिस्त्वेतैर्मन्त्रैरेतास्तु पूजयेत् 31.

With these mantras, one should worship them using sandalwood, flowers, and the like.

आवाह्य मण्डले रुद्र पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम् 31.

Having invoked the Lord in the maṇḍala, O Rudra, one should worship the Supreme Lord.

यथात्मनि तथा देवे न्यासं कुर्वीत चादितः 31.

As one does the assignment (nyāsa) on oneself, so too should it be done on the deity from the beginning.

स्नानां कुर्य्यात्ततो वस्त्रं दद्यादाचमनं ततः 31.

Then, one should perform bathing, offer clothing, and then give water for sipping.

प्रदक्षिणं ततो जप्यं ततस्तस्मिन्सर्पयेत् 31.

After that, one should recite the mantra while circumambulating, and then offer it there.

देवस्य मूलमन्त्रेणेत्येवं विद्धि वृषध्वज 31.

Know this, O bearer of the bull-banner: it is to be done with the root-mantra of the deity.

ॐ हां हृदयाय नमः ॐ हूं शिखायै नमः ॐ हौं नेत्रत्रयाय नमः ॐ श्रियै नमः ॐ पद्माय नमः ॐ गदायैनमः ॐ कौस्तुभाय नमः ॐ पीताम्बराय नमः ॐ मुसलाय नमः ॐ अङ्कुशाय नमः ॐ शराय नमः ॐ नारादाय नमः ॐ भागवतेभ्यो नमः ॐ परमगुरुभ्यो नमः ॐ अग्नये तेजोऽधिपतये सवाहनपरिवाराय नमः ॐ निर्ऋतये रक्षोऽधिपतये सवाहनपरिवाराय नमः ॐ वायवे प्राणाधिपतये सवाहनपरिवाराय नमः ॐ ईशानाय विद्याधिपतये सवाहनपरिवाराय नमः ॐ ब्रह्मणे लोकाधिपतये सवाहनपरिवाराय नमः ॐ शक्त्यै हुं फट्‌ नमः ॐ खड्गाय हुं फट्‌ नमः ॐ ध्वजाय हुं फट् नमः ॐ त्रिशूलाय हुं फट्‌ नमः ॐ पद्माय हुं फट् नमः 31.

Om hām, obeisance to the heart; Om hūm, obeisance to the crest; Om haum, obeisance to the three eyes; Om, obeisance to Śrī; Om, obeisance to Padmā; Om, obeisance to Gadā; Om, obeisance to Kaustubha; Om, obeisance to the wearer of yellow garments; Om, obeisance to Musala; Om, obeisance to Aṅkuśa; Om, obeisance to Śara; Om, obeisance to Nārāda; Om, obeisance to the Bhāgavatas; Om, obeisance to the supreme teachers; Om, obeisance to Agni, lord of brilliance, with his vehicle and retinue; Om, obeisance to Nirṛti, lord of the Rākṣasas, with his vehicle and retinue; Om, obeisance to Vāyu, lord of life, with his vehicle and retinue; Om, obeisance to Īśāna, lord of knowledge, with his vehicle and retinue; Om, obeisance to Brahmā, lord of the worlds, with his vehicle and retinue; Om, obeisance to Śakti, huṃ phaṭ; Om, obeisance to Khaḍga, huṃ phaṭ; Om, obeisance to Dhvaja, huṃ phaṭ; Om, obeisance to Triśūla, huṃ phaṭ; Om, obeisance to Padma, huṃ phaṭ.

एभिमन्त्रैर्महादेव पूज्या अंगादयो नरैः 31.

With these mantras, O Mahādeva, the limbs and others are to be worshipped by men.

स्तुवीत चानया स्तुत्या परमात्मानमव्ययम् 31.

And with this hymn, one should praise the imperishable Supreme Self.

विष्णवे वासुदेवाय नमः स्थितिकराय च 31.

Obeisance to Viṣṇu, to Vāsudeva, and to the sustainer of existence.

देवानां प्रभवे चैव यज्ञानां प्रभवे नमः 31.

Obeisance to the lord of the gods and to the lord of sacrifices.

जिष्णवे सर्वदेवानां सर्वगाय महात्मने 31.

Obeisance to the victorious one among all the gods, to the all-pervading great soul.

सर्वलोकहितार्थाय लोकाध्यक्षाय वै नमः 31.

Obeisance to the overseer of the worlds, who acts for the welfare of all beings.

वरप्रदाय शान्ताय वरेण्याय नमोनमः 31.

Repeated obeisance to the bestower of boons, to the peaceful one, to the most excellent.
