Garuda Purana

नारद उवाच । यथाक्षयोऽव्ययो विष्णुः स्तोतव्यो वरदो मया । प्रत्यहं चार्चनाकाले तथा त्वं वक्तुमर्हसि ॥ १,२३४.

Nārada said: As Viṣṇu is imperishable and undecaying, so he should be praised by me, the bestower of boons; and every day at the time of worship, you should speak thus.

ते धन्यास्ते सुजन्मानस्ते हि सर्वसुखप्रदाः । सफलं जीवितं तेषां ये स्तुवन्ति सदाच्युतम् ॥ १,२३४.

They are blessed, well-born, and bestowers of all happiness; their lives are fruitful, those who always praise Acyuta.

ब्रह्मोवाच । मुने स्तोत्रं प्रवक्ष्यामिः वासुदेवस्य मुक्तिदम् । शृणु येन स्तुतः सम्यक्पूजाकाले प्रसीदति ॥ १,२३४.

Brahmā said: O sage, I will declare the hymn to Vāsudeva, which grants liberation; listen, by which, when praised properly at the time of worship, he becomes pleased.

ओं नमो (भगवतेः वासुदेवाच नमः सर्वापहारिणे । नमो विशुद्धदेहाय नमो ज्ञानस्वरूपिणे ॥ १,२३४.

Om, obeisance to Bhagavān Vāsudeva, obeisance to the remover of all, obeisance to the one with pure form, obeisance to the embodiment of knowledge.

नमः सर्वसुरेशाय नमः श्रीवत्सधारिणे । नमश्चर्मासिहस्ताय नमः पङ्कजमालिने ॥ १,२३४.

Obeisance to the lord of all gods, obeisance to the bearer of the Śrīvatsa mark, obeisance to the one holding a sword and shield, obeisance to the one adorned with a lotus garland.

नमो विश्वप्रतिष्ठाय नमः पीताम्बराय च । नमो नृसिंहरूपाय वैकुण्ठाय नमोनमः ॥ १,२३४.

Obeisance to the foundation of the universe, obeisance to the one clad in yellow garments, obeisance to the one in the form of Nṛsiṃha, obeisance again and again to Vaikuṇṭha.

नमः पङ्कजनाभाय नमः क्षीरोदशायिने । नमः सहस्रशीर्षाय नमो नागाङ्गशायिने ॥ १,२३४.

Obeisance to the lotus-naveled one, obeisance to the one who lies on the ocean of milk, obeisance to the thousand-headed one, obeisance to the one who reclines on the serpent.

नमः परशुहस्ताय नमः क्षत्त्रान्तकारिणे । नमः सत्यप्रतिज्ञाय ह्यजिताय नमोनमः ॥ १,२३४.

Obeisance to the one holding an axe, obeisance to the destroyer of the kṣattriyas, obeisance to the one true to his promise, obeisance again and again to the unconquered one.

नमस्त्रै लोक्यनाथाय नमश्चक्रधारय च । नमः शिवाय सूक्ष्माय पुराणाय नमोनमः ॥ १,२३४.

Obeisance to the lord of the three worlds, obeisance to the wielder of the discus, obeisance to the auspicious, subtle, ancient one—again and again, obeisance.

नमो वामनरूपाय बलिराज्यापहारिणे । नमो यज्ञवराहाय गोविन्दाय नमोनमः ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You who took the form of Vāmana, the taker of Bali's kingdom; salutations to You who are the sacrificial Boar, to Govinda, repeated salutations.

नमस्ते परमानन्द नमस्ते परमाक्षर । नमस्ते ज्ञानसद्भाव नमस्ते ज्ञानदायक ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Supreme Bliss; salutations to You, Supreme Imperishable; salutations to You, whose nature is true knowledge; salutations to You, the Giver of knowledge.

नमस्ते परमाद्वैत नमस्ते पुरुषोत्तम । नमस्ते विश्वकृद्देव नमस्ते विश्वभावन ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Supreme Non-dual; salutations to You, Highest Person; salutations to You, God, Creator of the universe; salutations to You, Sustainer of the universe.

नमस्ते स्ताद्विश्वनाथ नमस्तेः विश्वकारण । नमस्ते मधुदैत्यघ्न नमस्ते रावणान्तक ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Lord of the universe; salutations to You, Cause of the universe; salutations to You, Slayer of the demon Madhu; salutations to You, Destroyer of Rāvaṇa.

नमस्ते कंसकेशिघ्न नमस्ते कैटभार्दन । नमस्ते शतपत्राक्ष नमस्ते गरुडध्वज ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Slayer of Kaṃsa and Keśi; salutations to You, Subduer of Kaiṭabha; salutations to You, Lotus-eyed One; salutations to You, whose banner bears Garuḍa.

नमस्ते कालनेमिघ्न नमस्ते गरुडासन । नमस्ते देवकीपुत्र नमस्ते वृष्णिनन्दन ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Slayer of Kālanemi; salutations to You, who are seated on Garuḍa; salutations to You, Son of Devakī; salutations to You, Joy of the Vṛṣṇis.

नमस्ते रुक्मिणीकान्त नमस्ते दितिनन्दन । नमस्ते गोकुलावास नमस्ते गोकुलप्रिय ॥ १,२३४.

Salutations to You, Beloved of Rukmiṇī; salutations to You, Son of Aditi; salutations to You, Dweller in Gokula; salutations to You, Beloved of Gokula.

जय गोपवपुः कृष्ण जय गोपीजनप्रिय । जय गोवर्धनाधार जय गोकुलवर्धन ॥ १,२३४.

Victory to You, Kṛṣṇa of the cowherd form; victory to You, Beloved of the gopīs; victory to You, Upholder of Govardhana; victory to You, who cause Gokula to flourish.

जय रावणवीरघ्न जय चाणूरनाशन । जय वृष्णिकुलोद्द्योत जय कालीयमर्दन ॥ १,२३४.

Victory to You, Slayer of Rāvaṇa's heroes; victory to You, Destroyer of Cāṇūra; victory to You, Light of the Vṛṣṇi lineage; victory to You, Subduer of Kāliya.

जय सत्य जगत्साक्षिन् जय सर्वार्थसाधक । जय वेदान्तविद्वेद्य जय सर्वद माधव ॥ १,२३४.

Victory to You, Truth, Witness of the world; victory to You, Accomplisher of all aims; victory to You, who are known through Vedānta; victory to You always, O Mādhava.

जय सर्वाश्रयाव्यक्त जय सर्वग माधव । जय सूक्ष्म चिदान्दन जय चित्तनिरञ्जन ॥ १,२३४.

Victory to You, Support of all, Unmanifest; victory to You, All-pervading Mādhava; victory to You, Subtle, Bliss of consciousness; victory to You, Pure Mind.

जयस्तेऽस्तु निरालम्ब जय शान्त सनातन । जय नाथ जगत्पुष्ट (त्पूज्य) जय विष्णो नमोऽस्तूते ॥ १,२३४.

May victory be Yours, Independent One; victory to You, Peaceful, Eternal; victory to You, Lord, Nourisher (or Worshipped) of the world; victory to You, Viṣṇu, salutations to You.

त्वं गुरुस्त्वं हरे शिष्यस्त्वं दीक्षामन्त्रमण्डलम् । त्वं न्यासमुद्रासमयास्त्वं च पुष्पादिसाधनम् ॥ १,२३४.

You are the teacher, You are Hari, You are the disciple, You are the circle of initiation mantras; You are the rites of consecration and gestures, and You are the means such as flowers.

त्वमाधारस्त्वं ह्यनन्तस्त्वं कूर्मःस्त्वं धराम्बुजम् । धर्मज्ञानादयस्त्वं हि वेदिमण्डलशक्तयः ॥ १,२३४.

You are the support, truly infinite; You are the Tortoise, You are the earth-lotus; You are dharma, knowledge, and so on; You are the powers of the Vedic altar.

त्वं प्रभो छलभृद्रामस्त्वं पुनः स खरान्तकः । त्वं ब्रह्मर्षिश्चदेवस्त्वं विष्णुः सत्यपराक्रमः ॥ १,२३४.

You, Lord, are Rāma, bearer of the bow, and again, the slayer of Khara; You are the divine sage, You are the god, You are Viṣṇu of true valor.

त्वं नृसिंहः परानन्दो वराहस्त्वं धराधरः । त्वं सुपर्णस्तथा चक्रं त्वं गदा शङ्ख एव च ॥ १,२३४.

You are Narasiṃha, Supreme Bliss; You are Varāha, the Upholder of the earth; You are Suparṇa (Garuḍa), likewise the discus; You are the mace and the conch as well.

त्वं श्रीः प्रभो त्वं मुष्टिसत्वं त्वं माला देव शावती । श्रीवत्सः कौस्तुभस्त्वं हि शार्ङ्गो त्वं च तथेषुधिः ॥ १,२३४.

You are Śrī, Lord; You are the fist, You are the garland, O divine one; You are the Śrīvatsa, the Kaustubha, indeed; You are the Śārṅga bow and likewise the quiver.

त्वं खड्गचर्मणा सार्धं त्वं दिक्पालास्तथा प्रभो । त्वं वेधास्त्वं विधाता च त्वं यमस्त्वं हुताशनः ॥ १,२३४.

You are with sword and shield; You are the guardians of the directions, O Lord; You are the Creator, You are the Ordainer; You are Yama, You are the Fire-god.

त्वं धनेशस्त्वमीशानस्त्वमिन्द्रस्त्वमपांपतिः । त्वं रक्षोऽधिपतिः साध्यस्त्वं वायुस्त्वं निशाकरः ॥ १,२३४.

You are the lord of wealth, the ruler, Indra, the lord of waters; you are the chief of the Rakshasas, the Sadhya, you are Vayu, and the moon.

आदित्या वसवो रुद्रा अश्विनौ त्वं मरुद्गणाः । त्वं दैत्या दानवा नागास्त्वं यक्षा राक्षसाः खगाः ॥ १,२३४.

You are the Adityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the Ashvins, and the hosts of Maruts; you are the Daityas, Danavas, Nagas, Yakshas, Rakshasas, and birds.
