Of the poisonous tree of worldly existence, there are two fruits akin to nectar: sometimes devotion to Keshava, and association with his devotees.
Among leaves, flowers, fruits, and water—always easily obtained—only devotion secures the Ancient Person, and only liberation is gained thereby; thus effort is made.
The ancestors clap and dance, and the forefathers rejoice: one born in our lineage as a Vaishnava will deliver us.
Even ignorant sinners, who insulted him—like Shishupala and Duryodhana—attained liberation, their sins dispelled by mere remembrance; what doubt can there be for those of supreme devotion?
Those who have surrendered to him, even without meditation or yoga, surpass death and attain that Vaishnava abode.
Struck by hundreds of sufferings arising from existence, wandering with the wild horses of the senses, may my mind, O Madhava, be restrained and bound firmly in devotion to your feet.
Vishnu alone is the supreme Brahman, though threefold is spoken of here; those deluded do not know this, even on the path of Vedic conclusions.
Suta said: Whoever bows to the cause of liberation, without beginning or end, unborn, imperishable, and undecaying, becomes worthy of reverence by all the worlds.
I always bow with devotion and mind to Vishnu, the blissful, non-dual, all-knowing, all-pervading Lord, whose abode is the heart.
He who dwells within all, seeing both good and evil, the Lord, the witness of all—Vishnu—I bow to the supreme ruler.
Even a bow offered to the wielder of the discus, though performed by one with power, causes agitation among the blades of worldly grass.
To Krishna, whose shining form is dark like a raincloud, the ruler of worlds, the supreme, immeasurable one—a single firm bow, based only on feeling and quality, is able to sanctify even an outcaste instantly.
Whoever worships by bowing to the ground with reverence attains a state not reached even by hundreds of sacrifices.
Even at the edge of the difficult forest of worldly existence, a single bow to Krishna will carry one across to liberation.
Whether sitting, lying down, or standing, wherever one may be, taking sole refuge in the mantra 'Namo Narayanaya' is sufficient.
The word 'Narayana' exists, speech is under one's control, yet even so, the deluded fall into hell—what wonder is there in that?
Even if a man were to have four faces like Brahma, or ten million mouths, and a mind completely pure, he could not express even a small portion of the virtues of the supreme god Vishnu.
All the sages beginning with Vyasa, though they praise Madhusudana, reach the limits of their intellect, but never the end of Govinda's virtues.
Even if a person's tongue utters his name involuntarily, he is instantly freed from all sins, just as animals flee in terror from a lion; by that utterance, he is bound for liberation.
Even if a person merely touches the name in a dream, it destroys his endless heap of sins; how much more, then, when the name of Janardana is spoken aloud by someone?
Those who, filled with devotion, have uttered 'Krishna, Achyuta, Ananta, Vasudeva,' O Brahmin, have gone to the city of Yama.
Just as darkness is dispelled by the rising sun, so too is the mass of impurity destroyed by the chanting of Hari's name.
For those whose minds are absorbed in Krishna, the journey to heaven is not subject to return or diminution, even as they travel a long path.
Chanting the name of Hari, the lotus-eyed one, is the provision for the journey; it is the sole remedy for the poison of worldly existence, like a snake's bite. By reciting 'Krishna,' a person becomes free.
What one attains by meditation in the Krita age, by mantras in Treta, by worship in Dvapara, that is attained in Kali by remembering Keshava.
He whose tongue holds the two syllables 'Hari' crosses the ocean of worldly existence and reaches the Vaishnava abode.
Even if surrounded by thousands of known sins, a person who sincerely desires purification and is devoted to praising Narayana will not see rebirth, even in dreams.
Suta said: Whoever worships Hari, the lord of all worlds, with flowers and water, reciting the Purusha Sukta, offers the essence of worship.
By that, this entire world, moving and unmoving, is worshipped; but one who does not worship Vishnu should be known as a slayer of Brahmins.
He from whom all beings proceed, by whom all this is pervaded—one who does not meditate on Vishnu becomes a worm in filth.
