हां नमः सर्वमातृभ्यस्ततः स्यात्प्राणसंयमः 23.
Hām, obeisance to all the Mothers; then, there should be control of the breath.
ॐ हां तन्महेशाय विद्महे, वाग्विशुद्धाय धीमहि, तन्नो रुद्रः प्रचोदयात् ।। 23.
Om hām, we contemplate that great Lord; we meditate on the one whose speech is pure; may that Rudra inspire us.
सूर्य्योपस्थानकं कृत्वा सूर्य्यमन्त्रैः प्रपूजयेत् ॐ हं खखोल्काय सूर्य्यमूर्त्तये नमः 23.
Having performed the worship of the Sun, one should honor him with solar mantras: Om ham, obeisance to the Sun-form who is like a meteor in the sky.
दण्डिने पिङ्गले त्वातिभूतानि च ततः स्मरेत् 23.
Then, one should remember Daṇḍin, Piṅgala, and the great beings.
यजेत्पद्मां च रां दीप्तां रीं सूक्ष्मां रूं जयां च रें 23.
One should worship Padmā with the syllable rāṃ, Dīptā with rīṃ, Sūkṣmā with rūṃ, Jayā with reṃ.
रं विद्युतां च पूर्वादौ रा (रं) मध्ये सर्वतोमुखीम् 23.
Rāṃ for Vidyut in the east at first, rāṃ in the center, facing all directions.
ॐ आं हृदयार्काय च शिरः शिखा च भूर्भुवः स्वरोम् 23.
Om āṃ for the heart, to the Sun; for the head, for the crown, bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ om.
यजेत्सूर्य्यहृदा सर्वान्सों सोमं मं च मंगलम् 23.
One should worship all with the Sūrya-hṛdaya; soṃ, somaṃ, and maṃ for auspiciousness.
रं राहुं कं यजेत्केतुं ॐ तेजश्चण्डमर्च्चयेत् 23.
Rāṃ for Rāhu, kaṃ for Ketu; Om, one should worship the radiant and fierce.
हां हृच्छिरो हूं शिखा हैं वर्म्म हौं चैव नेत्रकम् 23.
Hām for the heart, hūṃ for the crown, haim for the armor, haum for the eyes as well.
अर्घ्यपात्रं ततः कृत्वा तदद्भिः प्रोक्षयेद्यजेत् ।। 23.
Then, having prepared the arghya vessel, one should sprinkle it with water and worship.
आत्मानं पद्मसंस्थं च हौं शिवाय ततो बहिः 23.
One should visualize oneself seated on a lotus, then, hauṃ to Shiva, outside of that.
श्रीवत्सं वास्त्वधिपतिं ब्रह्माणं च गणं गुरुम् 23.
Śrīvatsa, the lord of the dwelling, Brahmā, the group, and the teacher.
अधर्म्माद्यं च वह्न्यादौ मध्ये पद्मस्य कर्णिके 23.
The beginning with unrighteousness, and at the start of the fire, in the center, at the pericarp of the lotus.
ॐ हौं कलविकरिण्यै बलविकरिणी ततः 23.
Om hauṃ, to the one who transforms sound, to the one who transforms strength, then—
मनोन्मनी यजेदेताः पठिमध्ये शिवाग्रतः 23.
With a focused mind, one should worship these in the middle of the altar, before Shiva.
आवाहनं स्थापनं च सन्निधानं निरोधनम् 23.
Invocation, installation, presence, and restraint—
आचामाभ्यङ्गमुद्वर्त्तं स्नानं निर्म्मथनं चरेत् 23.
One should perform sipping, anointing, unction, bathing, and purification.
आचामं मुखवासं च ताम्बूलं हस्तशोधनम् 23.
Sipping, mouth fragrance, betel, and cleansing of the hands—
रूपकल्पके चैकाहजपो जाप्यसमर्पणम् 23.
In the case of a symbolic image, one-day recitation and offering of the recitation—
अग्नीशरक्षो वायव्ये मध्ये पूर्वादितन्त्रकम् 23.
The fire, the lord of arrows, in the northwest, in the middle, and the ritual beginning from the east—
गुहायातिगुह्यगोप्ता त्वं गृहाणास्मत्कृतं जपम् 23.
You, the protector of the cave and the most secret, accept the recitation performed by us.
यत्किञ्चित्क्रियते कर्म सदा सुकृतदुष्कृतम् 23.
Whatever action is performed, whether good or bad—
शिवो दाता शिवो भोक्ता शिवः सर्वमिदं जगत् 23.
Shiva is the giver, Shiva is the enjoyer, Shiva is all this world.
यत्कृतं यत्करिष्यामि तत्सर्वं सुकृतं तव(तस्तवम्) 23.
Whatever I have done, whatever I will do, all that is good, belongs to you.
अथान्येन प्रकारेण शिवपूजां वदाम्यहम् 23.
Now, in another manner, I will explain the worship of Shiva.
पवनास्त्रं वास्त्वधिपो द्वारि पूर्वादितस्त्विमे 23.
The wind-weapon, or your lord, at the door, and these beginning from the east—
तेजो वायुर्व्योम गंधो रसरूपे च शब्दकः 23.
Light, wind, space, scent, taste and form, and sound—
चक्षुर्जिह्वा घ्राणमनो बुद्धिश्चाहं प्रकृत्यपि 23.
Eye, tongue, nose, mind, intellect, and I, and also nature—
माया च शुद्ध विद्या च ईश्वरश्च सदाशिवः 23.
Maya, pure knowledge, Ishvara, and Sadashiva—
