शिवार्चनं प्रवक्ष्यामि भक्तिमुक्तिकरं परम् 22.
I shall declare the worship of Shiva, supreme and bestowing devotion and liberation.
पञ्च वक्त्राणि ह्रस्वानि दीर्घाण्यंगानि बिन्दुना 22.
Five short syllables, long ones, limbs, and with a bindu.
षष्ठेनाधो महामन्त्रो हौमित्येवाखिलार्थदः 22.
With the sixth below, the great mantra 'haum' alone grants all purposes.
महामुद्रा हि सर्वेषां करांगन्यासमाचरेत् 22.
One should perform the great gesture of all, the placement of hands and limbs.
कनिष्ठामादितः कृत्वा तर्जन्यंगानि विन्यसेत् 22.
Beginning with the little finger, one should place the fingers of the forefinger.
धर्मं ज्ञानं च वैराग्यमैश्वर्य्यादि हृदार्चयेत् 22.
One should worship in the heart dharma, knowledge, dispassion, sovereignty, and so on.
आचामं स्नपनं पूजामेकाधारणतुल्यकाम् ? 22.
Sipping, bathing, and worship are to be performed with a single intention.
वर्म्मणाभ्युक्षणं कार्य्यं शक्तिन्यासं हृदा चरेत् 22.
One should perform anointing with armor and establish the power in the heart.
गर्भाधानादिकं कृत्वा निष्कृतिं चास्य पश्चिमाम् 22.
Having performed the rites from conception onwards, one should also do the final expiation for him.
पूजयेन्मण्डले शम्भुं पद्मगर्भे गवांकितम् 22.
One should worship Shambhu in the maṇḍala, marked with a lotus womb and the sign of a cow.
खाक्षीन्द्रसूर्य्यगं सर्वखादिवेदेन्दु (देवेन्दु) वर्त्तनम् 22.
The movement of ether, moon, sun, all ether, and the course of the lunar deity.
अग्निशास्त्र परायुस्थो त्दृदयादिगणोच्यते 22.
Established in fire, scripture, and supreme life, it is said to be of the group beginning with the heart.
दीक्षां वक्ष्ये पञ्चतत्त्वे स्थितां भूम्यादिकां परे 22.13 शान्त्यतीतं भवेद्धोम तत्परं शान्तमव्ययम् 22.
I shall explain initiation, established in the five principles, beginning with earth, in the supreme; when the offering surpasses peace, it becomes the highest, peaceful, and imperishable.
पश्चात्पूर्णाहुतिं दत्त्वा प्रा(प्र)सादेन शिवं स्मरेत् 22.
After offering the full oblation, one should remember Shiva with favor.
होमयेदस्त्रबीजेन एवं दीक्षां समाप्येत् 22.
One should perform the homa with the weapon-seed; thus is initiation completed.
एवं संस्कारशुद्धस्य शिवत्वं जायते ध्रुवम् ।। 22.
Thus, for one purified by the rite, Shiva-hood certainly arises.
शिवार्चनं प्रवक्ष्यामि धर्म्मकामादिसाधनम् 23.
I shall now explain the worship of Shiva, which is the means for attaining righteousness, desire, and other aims.
ॐ हां आत्मतत्त्वाय विद्यातत्त्वाय हीं तथा 23.
Om hām, to the principle of the Self, to the principle of knowledge, and also hīm.
भस्मस्न्नानं तर्पणं च ॐ हां स्वाहा सर्वमन्त्रकाः 23.
Bathing with ashes and offering libations: Om hām svāhā, these are for all mantras.
स्वधान्ताः सर्वपितरः स्वधान्ताश्च पितामहाः 23.
All the ancestors who end with svadhā, and the grandfathers who also end with svadhā.
हां नमः सर्वमातृभ्यस्ततः स्यात्प्राणसंयमः 23.
Hām, obeisance to all the Mothers; then, there should be control of the breath.
ॐ हां तन्महेशाय विद्महे, वाग्विशुद्धाय धीमहि, तन्नो रुद्रः प्रचोदयात् ।। 23.
Om hām, we contemplate that great Lord; we meditate on the one whose speech is pure; may that Rudra inspire us.
सूर्य्योपस्थानकं कृत्वा सूर्य्यमन्त्रैः प्रपूजयेत् ॐ हं खखोल्काय सूर्य्यमूर्त्तये नमः 23.
Having performed the worship of the Sun, one should honor him with solar mantras: Om ham, obeisance to the Sun-form who is like a meteor in the sky.
दण्डिने पिङ्गले त्वातिभूतानि च ततः स्मरेत् 23.
Then, one should remember Daṇḍin, Piṅgala, and the great beings.
यजेत्पद्मां च रां दीप्तां रीं सूक्ष्मां रूं जयां च रें 23.
One should worship Padmā with the syllable rāṃ, Dīptā with rīṃ, Sūkṣmā with rūṃ, Jayā with reṃ.
रं विद्युतां च पूर्वादौ रा (रं) मध्ये सर्वतोमुखीम् 23.
Rāṃ for Vidyut in the east at first, rāṃ in the center, facing all directions.
ॐ आं हृदयार्काय च शिरः शिखा च भूर्भुवः स्वरोम् 23.
Om āṃ for the heart, to the Sun; for the head, for the crown, bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ om.
यजेत्सूर्य्यहृदा सर्वान्सों सोमं मं च मंगलम् 23.
One should worship all with the Sūrya-hṛdaya; soṃ, somaṃ, and maṃ for auspiciousness.
रं राहुं कं यजेत्केतुं ॐ तेजश्चण्डमर्च्चयेत् 23.
Rāṃ for Rāhu, kaṃ for Ketu; Om, one should worship the radiant and fierce.
हां हृच्छिरो हूं शिखा हैं वर्म्म हौं चैव नेत्रकम् 23.
Hām for the heart, hūṃ for the crown, haim for the armor, haum for the eyes as well.
