Garuda Purana

दंशस्थानं वृश्चिकस्य शुण्ठी तगरसंयुता । नश्येन्मधुमक्षिकाया एतेषां लेपतो विषम् ॥ १,१९१.

The site of a scorpion bite, when treated with ginger and tagara, destroys the poison of bees; for these, application as a paste removes the poison.

शतपुष्पा सैन्धवञ्च साज्यं वा तेन लेपयेत् । शिरीषस्य तु बीजंवै सिद्ध क्षीरेण घर्षितम् ॥ १,१९१.

One should apply a paste of śatapuṣpā, saindhava, and ghee; and the seed of śirīṣa, prepared with milk and rubbed.

तल्लेपेन महादेव नश्येत्कुक्कुरजं विषम् । ज्वलिताग्निर्वारिसेको तथा दर्दुरजं विषम् ॥ १,१९१.

By applying this paste, O Mahādeva, the poison from dog bites is destroyed; and by sprinkling water heated by fire, the poison from frogs is also destroyed.

धत्तूरकरसोन्मिश्रं क्षीराद्यगुडपानतः । शूनां विषं विनश्येत्तु शशाङ्काङ्कितशेखर ॥ १,१९१.

If poison from a wound is mixed with datura and black mustard, and the person drinks milk or jaggery, O moon-crested one, the poison will be destroyed.

वटनिम्बशमीनाञ्च वल्कलैः क्वथितं जलम् । तत्सेकान्मुखदन्तानां नश्येद्वै विषवेदना ॥ १,१९१.

Water boiled with the bark of banyan, neem, and shami trees, when used for rinsing, will remove the pain of poison in the mouth and teeth.

लेपनाद्देवदारोश्च गैरिकस्य च लेपनात् । नागेश्वरो दरिद्रे द्वे तथा मञ्जिष्ठका हर । एभिर्लेपाद्विनश्येत्तु लूताविषमुमापते ॥ १,१९१.

By applying a paste of deodar or red ochre, or by using nagakesara, daridra, and manjistha, O Hara, the effects of worm poison will be destroyed, O Umāpati.

करञ्जस्य तु बीजानि वरुणच्छदमेव च । तिलाश्च सर्षपा हन्युर्विषं वै नात्र संशयः ॥ १,१९१.

The seeds of karanja and varuna bark, along with sesame and mustard, certainly destroy poison—of this there is no doubt.

घृतं कुमारीपत्रं वै दत्तं सलवणं हर । तुरङ्गमशरीराणां कण्डूर्नश्येद्दशाहतः ॥ १,१९१.

Ghee mixed with aloe leaf and salt, when given, removes itching in horses caused by bites.

श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १९२ हरिरुवाच । चित्रकस्याष्टभागाश्च शूरणस्य च षोडश । शुण्ठ्या भागाश्च चत्वारो मरिचानां द्वयं तथा ॥ १,१९२.

Hari said: Take eight parts of chitraka, sixteen of shurana, four parts of dry ginger, and two of black pepper.

त्रितयं पिप्पलीमूलं विडङ्गानां चतुष्टयम् । अष्टौ मुशलिकाभागास्त्रिफलायाश्चतुष्टयम् । द्विगुणेन गुडेनैषां मोदकानिह कारयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Add three parts of long pepper root, four of vidanga, eight of musali, and four of triphala; mix all these with twice their weight of jaggery to prepare confections.

तद्भक्षणमजीर्णं हि पाण्डुरोगञ्ज कामलम् । अतीसारांश्च मन्दाग्निं प्लीहाञ्चैव निवारयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Consuming this will relieve indigestion, anemia, jaundice, diarrhea, weak digestion, and spleen disorders.

बिल्वाग्निमन्थः श्योनाकपाटलापारिभद्रकम् । प्रसारण्यश्वगन्धा च बृहती कण्टकारिका ॥ १,१९२.

Bilva, agnimantha, shyonaka, patala, paribhadra, prasarani, ashwagandha, brihati, and kantakari—

बला चातिबला रास्ना श्वदंष्ट्रा च पुनर्नवा । एरण्डः शारिवा पर्णो गुडूची कपिकच्छुका ॥ १,१९२.

Bala, atibala, rasna, shvadanstra, punarnava, eranda, shariva, parna, guduchi, and kapikacchu—

एषां दशपलान्भागान्क्वाथयेत्सलिलेऽमले । तेन पादावशेषेण तैलपात्रे विपाचयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Take ten palas of each of these, boil them in pure water, and when only a quarter remains, cook it further in an oil vessel.

आजं वा यदि गव्यं क्षीरं दत्त्वा चतुर्गुणम् । शतावरीं सैन्धवञ्च तैलतुल्यं प्रदापयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Add four times as much goat's or cow's milk, and equal parts of shatavari and rock salt to the oil.

द्रव्याणियानि पेष्याणि तानि वक्ष्यामि तच्छृणु । शतपुष्पा देवदारुर्बला पर्णो वचागुरु ॥ १,१९२.

Now I will tell you the substances to be pounded—listen: shatapushpa, deodar, bala, parna, vacha, and aguru.

कुष्ठं मांसी सैन्धवञ्च पलमेकं पुनर्नवा । पाने नस्ये तथाभ्यङ्गे तैलमेतत्प्रदापयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Kushta, mansi, rock salt, one pala each, and punarnava—this oil should be used for drinking, nasal therapy, and massage.

हृच्छूलं पार्श्वशूलञ्च गण्डमालाञ्च नाशयेत् । अपस्मारं वातरक्तं वपुष्मांश्च पुमान्भवेत् ॥ १,१९२.

It destroys heart pain, side pain, glandular swellings, epilepsy, gout, and makes a man strong.

गर्भमश्वतरी विन्द्यात्किं पुनर्मानुषी हर । अश्वानां वातभग्नानां कुञ्जराणां नृणां तथा । तैलमेतत्प्रयोक्तव्यं सर्ववातविकारिणाम् ॥ १,१९२.

If it can cause a she-mule to conceive, what need to say of a woman, O Hara? For horses with wind disorders, elephants, and humans, this oil should be used for all wind-related ailments.

हिङ्गुतुम्बुरुशुण्ठीभिः सिद्धं तैलन्तु सार्षपम् । एतद्धि पुरणं श्रेष्ठं कर्णशूलापहं परम् ॥ १,१९२.

Oil prepared with hing, tumba, and dry ginger, especially mustard oil, is the best ancient remedy and removes severe ear pain.

शुष्कमूलकशुण्ठीनां क्षारो हिङ्गुलनागरम् । तक्रं चतुर्गुणं दद्यात्तैलमेतद्विपाचयेत् ॥ १,१९२.

Alkali of dried radish and dry ginger, hing, cinnabar, and ginger, with four times as much buttermilk, should be cooked to prepare this oil.

बाधिर्यं कर्णशूलञ्च पूयस्त्रावञ्च कर्णयोः । क्रिमयश्च विनश्यन्ति तैलस्यास्य प्रपूरणात् ॥ १,१९२.

Deafness, ear pain, discharge of pus from the ears, and worms are destroyed by the application of this oil.

शुष्कमूलकशुण्ठीनां क्षारो हिङ्गुलनागरम् । शतपुष्पा वचा कुष्ठं दारुशिग्रुरसाञ्जनम् ॥ १,१९२.

Dried radish, dried ginger, alkali, cinnabar, long pepper, dill, sweet flag, costus, Himalayan cedar, and the juice of antimony—

सौवर्चलं यवक्षारं सामुद्रं सैन्धवं तथा । ग्रन्थिकं विडमुस्तं च मधु शुक्तं चतुर्गुणम् ॥ १,१९२.

Black salt, barley alkali, rock salt, saindhava salt, granthika, vidanga, nut grass, honey, and four times as much sour gruel—

मातुलुङ्गरसश्चैव कदलीरस एव च । तैलमेभिर्विपक्तव्यं कर्णशूलापहं परम् ॥ १,१९२.

Juice of citron and banana as well—oil should be cooked with these ingredients; it is a supreme remedy for ear pain.

बाधिर्यं कर्णनादश्च पूयस्त्रावश्च दारुणम् । पूरणादस्य तैलस्य क्रिमयः कर्णयोर्हर ॥ १,१९२.

Deafness, ringing in the ears, severe discharge of pus, and worms in the ears are removed by the application of this oil.

सद्यो विनाशमायान्ति शशाङ्ककृतशेखर । क्षारतैलमिदं श्रेष्ठं मुखदन्तमलापहम् ॥ १,१९२.

These are immediately destroyed, O wearer of the crescent moon; this alkali oil is excellent and removes impurities from the mouth and teeth.

चन्दनं कुङ्कुमं मांसी कर्पूरं जातिपत्रिका । जातीकङ्कोलपूगानां लवङ्गस्य फलानि च ॥ १,१९२.

Sandalwood, saffron, spikenard, camphor, nutmeg leaves, nutmeg, kankola, areca nut, and the fruits of clove—

अगुरूणि च कस्तूरी कुष्ठं तगरपादिका । गोरोचना प्रियङ्गुश्च बला चैव तथा नखी ॥ १,१९२.

Agarwood, musk, costus, tagara, gorocana, priyangu, bala, and also nakhi—
