बिभीतकस्य वै चूर्णं पिप्पल्याः सैन्धवस्य च । पीतं सकाञ्जिकं हन्ति स्वरभेदं महेश्वर ॥ १,१९०.
Powder of bibhītaka, pippalī, and saindhava, taken with sour gruel, destroys hoarseness of voice, O Great Lord.
चूर्णमामलकं सेव्यं पीतं गव्यपयोऽन्वितम् । मनः शिला बलामूलं कोलपण च गुग्गुलुः ॥ १,१९०.
Powder of āmalaka, taken with cow's milk, along with manaḥśilā, balā root, kolapaṇa, and guggulu, is beneficial.
जातिपत्रं कोलपत्रं तथा चैव मनः शिला । एभिश्चैव कृता वर्तिर्बदर्यग्नौ महेश्वर । धूमपानं कासहरं नात्र कार्या विचारणा ॥ १,१९०.
Jāti leaves, kola leaves, and manaḥśilā—when made into a stick and burned in a badara fire, O Great Lord, inhaling the smoke cures cough without doubt.
त्रिफलापिप्पलीचूर्णं भक्षितं मधुनायुतम् । भोजनादौ हि समधु पिपासाज्व(त्व)रितं हरेत् ॥ १,१९०.
Powder of triphalā and pippalī, taken with honey, before meals, removes thirst and fever.
बिल्वमूलञ्च समधुगुडूचीक्वथितं जलम् । पीतं हरेच्च त्रिवधं छर्दिं नैवात्रसंशयः । पीता दूर्वा छर्दिनुत्स्यात्पिष्टातण्डुलवारिणा ॥ १,१९०.
Bilva root, boiled with honey and guḍūcī in water, when drunk, removes three types of vomiting without doubt; drinking dūrvā, ground with rice water, also removes vomiting.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १९१ हरिरुवाच । पुनर्नवाया मूलञ्च श्वेतं पुष्ये समाहृतम् । वारि पीतं तस्य पार्श्व भवनेषु न पन्नगाः ॥ १,१९१.
Hari said: The root of white punarnavā, gathered during the Puṣya star, when its water is drunk, ensures that there are no serpents in the house.
तार्क्ष्यमूर्तिं वहेद्यो वै भल्लूकदन्तनिर्मिताम् । स पन्नगैर्न दृश्येत यावज्जीवं वृषध्वज ॥ १,१९१.
One should carry an image of Tārkṣya made from the teeth of a bear; as long as the bull-bannered god lives, he will not be seen by serpents.
पिबेच्छल्मलिमूलं यः पुष्यर्क्षे रुद्र वारिणा । तस्मिन्नपास्तदशना नागाः स्युर्नात्र संशयः ॥ १,१९१.
Whoever drinks the root of śalmali during the Puṣya constellation, with water consecrated to Rudra, will be freed from snake bites; there is no doubt about this.
पुष्ये लज्जालुकामूले हस्तबद्धे तु पन्नगान् । गृह्णीयाल्लेपतो वापि नात्र कार्या विचारणा ॥ १,१९१.
During Puṣya, if one binds the root of lajjāluka to the hand, or applies it as a paste, serpents can be seized without hesitation.
पुष्येश्वेतार्कमूलन्तु पीतं शीतेन वारिणा । नश्येतु दंशकविषं करवीरादिजं विषम् ॥ १,१९१.
If, during Puṣya, the root of etārka is drunk with cold water, the poison from bites and the poison arising from karavīra will be destroyed.
महाकालस्य वै मूलं पिष्टं तत्काञ्जिकेन वै । वोड्राणां डुण्डुभानां च तल्लोपो हरते विषम् ॥ १,१९१.
The root of mahākāla, ground and mixed with sour gruel, when applied as a paste, removes the poison of voḍrā and ḍuṇḍubha.
तण्डुलीयकमूलं च पिष्टं तण्डुलवारिणा । घृतेन सह पीतन्तु हरेत्सर्वाविषाणि च ॥ १,१९१.
The root of taṇḍulīyaka, ground with rice water and drunk together with ghee, removes all kinds of poison.
नीलीलज्जालुकामूलं पिष्टं तण्डुलवारिणा । पीतं तद्दंशकविषं नश्येदेकेन वोभयोः ॥ १,१९१.
The root of nīlī and lajjāluka, ground with rice water and drunk, destroys the poison from bites in both cases with a single dose.
कूष्माण्डकस्य स्वरसः सगुडः सहशर्करः । पीतः सदुग्धो हन्याच्च दंशकस्यविषं च वै ॥ १,१९१.
The fresh juice of kūṣmāṇḍa, mixed with jaggery and sugar, when drunk with milk, destroys the poison from bites.
तथा कोद्रवमूलस्य मोहस्य हर एव च । यष्टीमधुसमायुक्ता तथा पीता च शर्करा ॥ १,१९१.
Similarly, the root of kodrava removes delusion; when combined with yaṣṭīmadhū and sugar and drunk, it is effective.
सदुग्धा च त्रिरात्रेण मूषकानां विषं हरेत् । चुलुकत्रयपानाच्च वारिणः शीतलस्य वै ॥ १,१९१.
When drunk with milk for three nights, it removes the poison of mice; or by drinking three measures of cold water.
ताम्बूलदग्धमुखस्य लालास्त्रावो विनश्यति । घृतं सशर्करं षीत्वा मद्यपानमदो न वै ॥ १,१९१.
For one whose mouth is burned by betel, the flow of saliva ceases; after drinking ghee with sugar, intoxication from alcohol does not occur.
कृष्णाङ्कोलस्य मूलेन पीतं सुक्वथितं जलम् । ततो नश्यद्गरविषं त्रिरात्रेण महेश्वर ॥ १,१९१.
By drinking well-boiled water with the root of kṛṣṇāṅkola, the poison of garas is destroyed within three nights, O Maheśvara.
उष्णं गव्यघृतं चैव सैन्धवेन समन्वितम् । नाशयेत्तन्महादेव वेदनां वृश्चिकोद्भवाम् ॥ १,१९१.
Warm cow's ghee mixed with saindhava salt destroys the pain caused by scorpion bites, O Mahādeva.
कुसुभं कङ्कुमञ्चैव हरितालं मनः शिला । करञ्जं पिषितं चैव ह्यर्कमूलं च शङ्कर ॥ १,१९१.
Kusubha, saffron, haritāla, mica, karañja, and ground arka root, O Śaṅkara—
विषंनृणां विनश्येत्तु एतेषां भक्षणाच्छिव । दीपतैलप्रदानाच्च दंशैराकीटजैः शिव । खर्जूरकविषं नश्येत्तदा वै नात्र संशयः ॥ १,१९१.
By consuming these, O Śiva, the poison in humans is destroyed; and by applying lamp oil, the poison from insect bites is removed. The poison from kharjūra is also destroyed, without doubt.
दंशस्थानं वृश्चिकस्य शुण्ठी तगरसंयुता । नश्येन्मधुमक्षिकाया एतेषां लेपतो विषम् ॥ १,१९१.
The site of a scorpion bite, when treated with ginger and tagara, destroys the poison of bees; for these, application as a paste removes the poison.
शतपुष्पा सैन्धवञ्च साज्यं वा तेन लेपयेत् । शिरीषस्य तु बीजंवै सिद्ध क्षीरेण घर्षितम् ॥ १,१९१.
One should apply a paste of śatapuṣpā, saindhava, and ghee; and the seed of śirīṣa, prepared with milk and rubbed.
तल्लेपेन महादेव नश्येत्कुक्कुरजं विषम् । ज्वलिताग्निर्वारिसेको तथा दर्दुरजं विषम् ॥ १,१९१.
By applying this paste, O Mahādeva, the poison from dog bites is destroyed; and by sprinkling water heated by fire, the poison from frogs is also destroyed.
धत्तूरकरसोन्मिश्रं क्षीराद्यगुडपानतः । शूनां विषं विनश्येत्तु शशाङ्काङ्कितशेखर ॥ १,१९१.
If poison from a wound is mixed with datura and black mustard, and the person drinks milk or jaggery, O moon-crested one, the poison will be destroyed.
वटनिम्बशमीनाञ्च वल्कलैः क्वथितं जलम् । तत्सेकान्मुखदन्तानां नश्येद्वै विषवेदना ॥ १,१९१.
Water boiled with the bark of banyan, neem, and shami trees, when used for rinsing, will remove the pain of poison in the mouth and teeth.
लेपनाद्देवदारोश्च गैरिकस्य च लेपनात् । नागेश्वरो दरिद्रे द्वे तथा मञ्जिष्ठका हर । एभिर्लेपाद्विनश्येत्तु लूताविषमुमापते ॥ १,१९१.
By applying a paste of deodar or red ochre, or by using nagakesara, daridra, and manjistha, O Hara, the effects of worm poison will be destroyed, O Umāpati.
करञ्जस्य तु बीजानि वरुणच्छदमेव च । तिलाश्च सर्षपा हन्युर्विषं वै नात्र संशयः ॥ १,१९१.
The seeds of karanja and varuna bark, along with sesame and mustard, certainly destroy poison—of this there is no doubt.
घृतं कुमारीपत्रं वै दत्तं सलवणं हर । तुरङ्गमशरीराणां कण्डूर्नश्येद्दशाहतः ॥ १,१९१.
Ghee mixed with aloe leaf and salt, when given, removes itching in horses caused by bites.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १९२ हरिरुवाच । चित्रकस्याष्टभागाश्च शूरणस्य च षोडश । शुण्ठ्या भागाश्च चत्वारो मरिचानां द्वयं तथा ॥ १,१९२.
Hari said: Take eight parts of chitraka, sixteen of shurana, four parts of dry ginger, and two of black pepper.
