चूर्णमुष्णोदकेनैषां पीतं चातिक्षुधाकरम् । साज्यं सूकरमांसं वै पीतं चातिक्षुधाकरम् ॥ १,१८६.
The powder of these, taken with warm water, greatly increases appetite; likewise, pork meat cooked with ghee, when consumed, greatly increases hunger.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १८७ हरिरुवाच । हस्तिकर्णपलाशस्य पत्राणि? चूर्णयेद्धर । सर्वरोगविनिर्मुक्तं चूर्णं पलशतं शिव ॥ १,१८७.
Hari said: The leaves of hastikarna-palasha, ground into powder, O Shiva, a hundred palas in weight, make a powder that frees one from all diseases.
सक्षीरं भक्षीतं कुर्यात्सप्ताहेन वृषध्वज । नरं श्रुतिधरं रुद्र मृगेन्द्रगतिविक्रमम् ॥ १,१८७.
When eaten with milk for seven days, O Bull-bannered One, it makes a man endowed with keen hearing and the gait and strength of a lion, O Rudra.
पद्मरागप्रतीकाशंयुक्तं दशशतायुषा । षोडशाब्दाकृतिं रुद्र सततं दुग्धभोजनात् ॥ १,१८७.
With the luster of a padmaraga gem, endowed with a lifespan of a thousand years, and the form of a sixteen-year-old, O Rudra, by constantly consuming milk.
मधुसर्पिःसमायुक्तं दुग्धमायुष्करं भवेत् । तज्जग्धं मधुना सार्धं दशवर्ष सहस्रिणम् ॥ १,१८७.
Milk mixed with honey and ghee becomes life-prolonging; when consumed together with honey, it grants a lifespan of ten thousand years.
कुर्यान्नरं श्रुतिधरं प्रमदाजनवल्लभम् । दध्ना नित्यं भक्षितन्तु वज्रदेहकरं भवेत् ॥ १,१८७.
A man who regularly eats curd becomes learned, beloved by women, and his body becomes as hard as a diamond.
केशराजिसमायुक्तं नरं वर्षसहस्रिणम् । तच्च काञ्जिकसंयुक्तं नरं कुर्याच्च भक्षितम् ॥ १,१८७.
A man who eats food mixed with saffron attains a lifespan of a thousand years; and if that is combined with sour gruel, it should be consumed by a person.
शतवर्षं दिव्यदेहं वलीपलितवर्जितम् । जग्धं त्रिफलया क्षौद्रं चक्षुष्मन्तं करोति वै ॥ १,१८७.
Honey taken with triphala grants a divine body for a hundred years, free from wrinkles and gray hair, and bestows keen eyesight.
अन्धः पश्येत्तु चूर्णस्य साज्यस्यैव तु भक्षणात् । महिषीक्षीरसंयुक्तस्तल्लेपः कृष्णकेशकृत् ॥ १,१८७.
Even a blind person may see by eating the powder mixed with ghee; applied with buffalo milk, it makes the hair black.
खल्वाटस्य च वै केशा भवन्ति वृषभध्वज । तैलयुक्तेन चूर्णेन वलीपलितनाशनम् ॥ १,१८७.
O Bull-bannered One, even a bald man grows hair by using the powder mixed with oil; it removes wrinkles and grayness.
तदुद्वर्तनमात्रेण सर्वरागः प्रमुच्यते । सच्छागक्षीरचूर्णेन दृष्टिः स्यान्मासतोऽञ्जनात् ॥ १,१८७.
By merely rubbing with that, all discoloration is removed; with the powder of goat's milk, eyesight is restored in a month by application as collyrium.
पलाशस्य च बीजानि श्रावणे वितुषाणि च । गृहीत्वा नवनीतेन तेषां चूर्णं च भक्षयेत् ॥ १,१८७.
One should take the seeds of the palāśa tree and the grains of vītuṣa in the month of Śrāvaṇa, and eat their powder with fresh butter.
कर्षार्धमेकं सेवेत नत्वा नित्यं हरिं प्रभुम् । पुराणषष्टिधान्यस्य पथ्यमम्बु पिबन्हर । जीवेद्वर्षसहस्राणि वलीपलितवर्जितः ॥ १,१८७.
One should daily take half a karsha or one karsha, bowing always to Lord Hari; eating wholesome food of ancient and sixty-grained rice, and drinking water, one lives a thousand years free from wrinkles and gray hair.
भृङ्गराजस्य वै मूलं पुष्यर्क्षे तु समाहृतम् । विधाय तस्य चूर्णं वै ससौवीरञ्च भक्षयेतं ॥ १,१८७.
The root of bhringarāja, gathered under the Puṣya constellation, should be made into powder and taken with sauvira (fermented drink).
मासमात्रप्रयोगेण वलीपलितवर्जितः । शतानि पञ्च जीवेच्च नरो नागबलो भवेत् । भवेच्छ्रुतिधरो रुद्र पुष्यर्क्षे चैव भक्षणात् ॥ १,१८७.
By using it for just a month, a person becomes free from wrinkles and gray hair, lives five hundred years, gains the strength of an elephant, and becomes learned, O Rudra, by eating it under the Puṣya constellation.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १८८ हरिरुवाच । निर्व्रणः स्यात्पूयंहीनो प्रहारो घृपूरितः । अपामार्गस्य वै मूलं हस्ताभ्याञ्च विमर्दितम् । तद्रसेन प्रहारस्य रक्तस्त्रावो न पूरणात् ॥ १,१८८.
Hari said: One becomes free from wounds and pus, and a blow filled with ghee heals; the root of apāmārga, rubbed with the hands, and its juice applied to a wound, stops bleeding and prevents suppuration.
रुद्र लाङ्गलिकामूलं चेक्षुदर्भस्तथैव च । तेन व्रणमुखं लिप्तं शल्यं निः स रति व्रणात् । चिरकालप्रविष्टोऽपि तेन मार्गेण शङ्कर ॥ १,१८८.
O Śaṅkara, the root of rudra-lāṅgalikā and kuśa grass, when applied to the mouth of a wound, expels foreign matter from the wound, even if it has been lodged there for a long time.
बालमूलं मेषशृङ्गीमूलं वा वारिघर्षितम् । तेन लिप्तं चिरं जातं व्रणं नाड्याः प्रशाम्यति ॥ १,१८८.
The root of bālamūla or meṣaśṛṅgī, rubbed with water and applied, heals a chronic sinus wound.
जग्धं माहिषपध्ना च युक्तं कोद्रवभक्तकम् । हिङ्गुमूलस्य वै चूर्णं दत्तं नाडीव्रणापहम् ॥ १,१८८.
Powder of hiṅgu root, given with buffalo curd and kodrava rice, cures fistulous wounds.
ब्रह्मयष्टिफलं पिष्टं वारिणा तेनलेपितम् । तेन घृष्टं रक्तदोषः प्रणश्यति न संशयः ॥ १,१८८.
The fruit of brahmayaṣṭi, ground and applied with water, destroys blood disorders without doubt.
यवभस्म विडङ्गञ्च गन्धपाषाणमेव च । शुण्ठिरेषाञ्चैव चूर्णं भ्वितं रुधिरेणवै ॥ १,१८८.
Ash of barley, viḍaṅga, and gandhapāṣāṇa, along with dry ginger, their powder mixed with blood, should be used.
कृकलासस्य तल्लिप्तं विद्रधिं नाशयेच्छिव । सौभाञ्जनस्य बीजानि त्वतसीमसिना सह ॥ १,१८८.
Applied to the affected area, it destroys abscesses; the seeds of saubhāñjana together with atasi and sword-bean.
सौरसर्षपयुक्तानि सर्वाण्येतानि शङ्कर । पिष्टान्यनम्लतक्रेण ग्रन्थिकं नाशयेद्धि वै ॥ १,१८८.
O Śaṅkara, all these preparations mixed with mustard seeds and cow's urine, when ground and applied with a paste, will surely destroy glandular swelling.
श्वेतापराजितामूलं पिष्टं तण्डुलवारिणा । तेन नस्यप्रदानात्स्याद्भूतवृन्दस्य विद्रवः ॥ १,१८८.
The root of white aparājitā, ground with rice water, when used as nasal medicine, causes the dispersal of the assembly of spirits.
अगस्त्यपुष्पनस्यं वै समरीचं तु शूलहृत् । भुजङ्गचर्म वै हिङ्गु निम्बपत्रं तथा यवाः । गौरसर्षम एभिः स्याल्लेपो भूतहरः शिव ॥ १,१८८.
The flower of Agastya, marīca, snake skin, asafoetida, neem leaves, and barley—when made into a paste with cow's urine, O Śiva, this application dispels spirits.
गोरोचना मरीचानि पिप्पली सैन्धवं मधु । अञ्जनं कृतमेभिः स्याद्ग्रहभूतहरं शिव ॥ १,१८८.
Cow's gall, marīca, long pepper, rock salt, honey, and collyrium—when prepared with these, O Śiva, it becomes a remedy that removes afflictions caused by spirits and planets.
गुग्गुलूलूकपुच्छाभ्यां धूपो ग्रहहरो भवेत् । चातुर्थिकज्वरैर्मुक्तो कृष्णवस्त्रावगुण्ठितः ॥ १,१८८.
Incense made from guggulu and owl's tail dispels planetary afflictions; one freed from fourth-day fevers should be wrapped in black cloth.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १८९ हरिरुवाच । श्वेतापराजितापुष्परसेनाक्ष्णोश्च पूरणे । पटलं नाशमायाति नात्र कार्या विचारणा ॥ १,१८९.
Hari said: When the root and flower of white aparājitā are used to fill the eyes, the affliction is destroyed; there is no need for further consideration.
मूलं गोक्षुरकस्यैव चर्वित्वा नीललोहित । दन्तकीटव्यथा नश्येत्सुरासुरविमर्दन् ॥ १,१८९.
By chewing the root of gokṣuraka, O blue-red one, the pain caused by tooth worms is destroyed, O crusher of gods and demons.
नारी पुष्पादिने पीत्वा गोक्षीरेणोपवासतः । श्वेतार्कस्य तु वै मूलं तस्यास्तद्गुल्मशूलनुत् ॥ १,१८९.
A woman who drinks the juice of puṣpādinī with cow's milk while fasting, and the root of white arka, will have her abdominal tumor and pain alleviated.
