Garuda Purana

नागेश्वरञ्च शैलेयं त्वक्पत्रञ्च हरीतकी । चन्दनं कुष्ठसूक्ष्मैलारक्तशालिसमन्विता ॥ १,१८५.

Nagakesara, mountain-born, bark and leaf of haritaki, sandalwood, kushta, fine myrrh, and red rice are to be used.

एतैर्धूपो वशकरः स्मरबाणैः स्मारार्दनः । रतिकाले महादेव पार्वतीप्रिय शङ्कर ॥ १,१८५.

Incense made from these brings others under control, pierces the arrows of love, and subdues passion, O beloved Parvati, O Shankara, at the time of union.

निजशुक्रं गृही त्वा तु वामहस्तेन यः पुमान् । कामिनीचरणं वामं लिंपेत्स स्यात्स्त्रियाः प्रियः ॥ १,१८५.

A man who, taking his own semen with his left hand, anoints the left foot of a woman, becomes dear to her.

सैन्धवञ्च महादेव पारावतमलं मधु । एभिर्लिप्ते तु लिङ्गे वै कामिनीवशकृद्भवेत् ॥ १,१८५.

O Mahadeva, by anointing the organ with rock salt, pigeon droppings, and honey, one can bring a woman under control.

पुष्पाणि पञ्चरक्तानि गृहीत्वा यानि कानि च । तत्तुल्यञ्च प्रियङ्गुञ्च पेषयेदेकयोगतः । अनेन लिप्तलिङ्गस्य कामिनीवशतामियात् ॥ १,१८५.

By taking five kinds of red flowers, whatever they may be, and equal amounts of priyangu, grinding them together, and anointing the organ with this, one attains control over women.

हयगन्धा च मञ्जिष्ठा मालतीकुसुमानि च । श्वेतसषर्प एतैश्च लिप्तलिङ्गः स्त्रियाः प्रियः ॥ १,१८५.

Hayagandha, manjistha, jasmine flowers, and white mustard—by anointing the organ with these, one becomes dear to women.

मूलन्तु काकजङ्घाया दुग्धपीतन्तु शोषनुत् । अश्वगन्धानागबलागुडमाषनिषेविणः । रूपं भवेद्यथा तद्वन्नवयौवनचारिणाम् ॥ १,१८५.

The root of kakajangha, drunk with milk and dried, and those who use ashwagandha, nagabala, jaggery, and black gram, will have beauty like those in perpetual youth.

लौहचूर्णसमायुक्तं त्रिफलाचूर्णमेव वा । मधुना सेवितं रुद्र परिणामाख्यशूलनुत् ॥ १,१८५.

Powder of iron or powder of triphala, when taken with honey, O Rudra, alleviates pain known as pariṇāma (colic or digestive pain).

क्वथितोदकपानन्तु शम्बूकक्षारकं तथा । मृगशृङ्गं ह्यग्निदग्धं गव्याज्येन समन्वितम् । पीत हृत्पृष्ठशूलानां भवेन्नाशकरं शिव ॥ १,१८५.

Drinking decocted water with śambūka-kṣāra and deer horn that has been burned by fire, mixed with cow's ghee, O Śiva, destroys pain of the heart and back when consumed.

हिङ्गु सौवर्चलं शुण्ठी वृषध्वज महौषधम्? । एभिस्तु क्वथितं वारि पीतं वै सर्वशूलनुत् ॥ १,१८५.

Asafoetida, black salt, dry ginger—these, O Bull-bannered One, are great medicines; water decocted with these and drunk removes all kinds of pain.

अपामार्गस्य वै मूलं सामुद्रलवणान्वितम् । आस्वादि तमजीर्णस्य शूलस्य स्याद्विमर्दनम् ॥ १,१८५.

The root of apāmārga combined with saindhava salt, when tasted, relieves indigestion and pain.

वटरोहाङ्कुरो रुद्र तण्डुलोदकघर्षितः । पीतः सतक्रोऽतीसारं क्षयं नयति शङ्कर ॥ १,१८५.

The sprout of vaṭa-rohā, rubbed with rice-water and drunk, O Rudra, removes excessive diarrhea, O Śaṅkara.

अङ्कोटमूलं कर्षार्धं पिष्टं तण्डुलवारिणा । सर्वातीसारग्रहणीं पीतं हरति भूतप ॥ १,१८५.

Half a karṣa of aṅkoṭa root, ground with rice-water and drunk, O Lord of spirits, removes all types of diarrhea and grahaṇī (digestive disorders).

मरीचशुण्ठिकुटजत्वक्चूर्णञ्च गुडान्वितम् । क्रमात्तद्द्विगुणं पीतं ग्रहणीव्याधिनाशनम् ॥ १,१८५.

Powder of black pepper, dry ginger, kuṭaja bark, mixed with jaggery, and taken in increasing doses, destroys grahaṇī disease.

श्वेतापराजितामूलं हरिद्रासिक्थतण्डुलाः । अपामार्गत्रिकटुकमेषाञ्च वटिका शिव । विषूचिकामहाव्याधिं हरत्येव न संशयः ॥ १,१८५.

The root of white aparājitā, turmeric, husked rice, apāmārga, and trikaṭu—tablets made from these, O Śiva, certainly remove viṣūcikā and major diseases, without doubt.

त्रिफलागुरु भूतेश शिलाजतु हरीतकी । एकैकमेषां चूर्णन्तु मधुना च विमिश्रितम् । पीतं सर्वञ्च मेहन्तु क्षयं नयति शङ्कर ॥ १,१८५.

Triphala, aguru, śilājatu, and harītakī—powder of each of these, mixed with honey and taken, O Śaṅkara, destroys all types of diabetes.

अर्कक्षीरप्रस्थमेकं तिलतैलं तथैव च । मनः शिलामरीचानां सिन्दूरस्य पलं पलम् ॥ १,१८५.

One prastha of arka milk, the same of sesame oil, and equal weights of manahśilā, black pepper, and sindūra (red lead).

चूर्णं कृत्वा ताम्रपात्रे त्वातपैः शोषयेत्ततः । पीतं स्नुहीगतं दुग्धं सैन्धवं शूलनुद्भवेत् ॥ १,१८५.

Make a powder of these, dry it in a copper vessel under sunlight, and then, when drunk with snuhī milk and rock salt, it removes pain.

त्रिकटुत्रिफलानक्तं तिलतैलं तथैव च । मनः शिला निम्बपत्रं जातीपुष्पमजापयः ॥ १,१८५.

Trikaṭu, triphalā, nakta, sesame oil, manahśilā, neem leaves, jasmine flower, and goat's milk—

तन्मूत्रं सङ्खनाभिश्च चन्दनं घर्षयेत्ततः । एभिश्च वर्तिकां कृत्वा त्वक्षिणी चाञ्जयेत्ततः ॥ १,१८५.

Mix these with goat's urine and conch shell powder, then rub with sandalwood; making a collyrium from these, apply to the eyes.

नश्यते पटलं काचं पुष्पञ्च तिमिरादिकम् । विभीतकस्य वै चूर्णं समधु श्वासनाशनम् ॥ १,१८५.

Cataract, kāca, and various darknesses of vision are destroyed; powder of vibhītaka with honey removes asthma.

पिप्पलीत्रिफलाचूर्णं मधुसैन्धवसंयुतम् । सर्वरोगज्वरश्वासशोषपीनसहृद्भवेत् ॥ १,१८५.

Powder of long pepper and triphalā, combined with honey and rock salt, is beneficial for all diseases, fevers, asthma, consumption, nasal catarrh, and heart disease.

देवदारोश्च वै चूर्णं अजामत्रेण भावयेत् । एकविंशतिवारंवैत्वक्षिणी तेन चाञ्जयेत् । रात्र्यन्धता पटलता नश्येन्निर्लोमता तथा ॥ १,१८५.

Powder of devadāru, processed with goat's milk twenty-one times, and applied to the eyes, removes night blindness, cataract, and also loss of eyelashes.

पिप्पलीकेतकं रुद्र हरिद्रामलकं वचा । सर्वाक्षिरोगा नश्येयुः सक्षीरादञ्जनात्ततः ॥ १,१८५.

Long pepper, ketaka, turmeric, amalaki, and vacā—when used as collyrium with milk, O Rudra, all eye diseases are destroyed.

काकजङ्घाशिग्रुमूले मुखेन विधृते शिव । चर्वित्वा दन्तकीटानां विनाशो हि भवेद्धर ॥ १,१८५.

The root of kākajaṅghā and śigru, held in the mouth and chewed, O Śiva, destroys tooth worms, O Bearer of the mountain.

श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १८६ हरिरुवाच । पीतः सारो गुडूच्याश्च मधुना च प्रमेहनुत् । पीतं गोहालिकामूलं तिलदध्याज्यसंयुतम् ॥ १,१८६.

Hari said: The juice of guduchi mixed with honey relieves urinary disorders; and the root of gohalika, taken with sesame curd and ghee, is also beneficial.

निरुद्धमूत्रं क्वथितं निवर्तयति शङ्कर । तथा हिक्कां हरेत्पीतं सौवर्चलयुतञ्च वै ॥ १,१८६.

O Shankara, decocted and consumed, it cures retention of urine; likewise, when taken with black salt, it removes hiccups.

गोरक्षकर्कटीमूलं पिष्टं शीतोदकेन च । पीतं दिनत्रयेणैव नाशयेद्रुद्र शर्कराम् ॥ १,१८६.

The root of goraksha-karkati, ground and taken with cold water, destroys urinary stones within three days, O Rudra.

पिष्ट्वा वै मालतीमूलं ग्रीष्मकाले समाहितम् । साधितं छागदुग्धेन पतिं शर्कस्यान्वितम् । हरेन्मूत्रनिरोधञ्च हरेद्वै पाण्डुशर्कराम् ॥ १,१८६.

The root of jasmine, ground and prepared in summer, cooked with goat’s milk and mixed with sugar, removes urinary retention and cures pale urinary stones.
