शतमूल्यैरण्डमूलचक्राव्याघ्रीपलैः शृतम् । तैलं नस्यमरुश्लेष्मतिमिरोर्ध्वर्(द्ध) गदापहम् ॥ १,१७१.
Oil cooked with śatamūlī, castor root, cakrā, vyāghrī, and palāśa, used as nasal drops, removes dryness, phlegm, darkness, and diseases of the upper region.
नाचनं (लनणं) सगुडं विश्वं पिप्पली वा ससैन्धवा । भुजस्तम्भादिरोगेषु सर्वेषूर्ध्वगदेषु च ॥ १,१७१.
Nācana (or lanaṇa) with jaggery, or pippalī with rock salt, is beneficial in paralysis of the arm and all diseases of the upper part of the body.
सूर्यावर्ते विधातव्यं नस्यकर्मादिभेषजम् । दशमूलीकषायं तु सर्पिः सैन्धवसंयुतम् । नस्यमङ्गविभेदघ्नं सूर्यावर्तशिरोऽर्तिनुत् ॥ १,१७१.
For disorders related to the sun's orbit, nasal therapies and other medicines should be administered; a decoction of Daśamūla mixed with ghee and rock salt, used as nasal drops, alleviates splitting of the limbs and head pain caused by the sun's orbit.
दध्ना सौवर्चलाजाजीमधूकं नीलमुत्पलम् । पिबेत्क्षौद्रयुतं नारी वातासृग्दरपीडिता ॥ १,१७१.
A woman afflicted by wind or blood disorders should drink a mixture of yogurt, black salt, ajwain, madhuka, blue lotus, and honey.
वासकस्वरसं पैत्ते गुडूच्या रसमेव वा । जलेनामलकीबीजं कल्कं वाससितामधु ॥ १,१७१.
For bile disorders, one should take the fresh juice of Vāsaka or Gudūcī, or a paste of āmalakī seeds with water, along with Vāsa, sugar, and honey.
आमलक्या मधुरसं मूलं कार्पासमेव वा । पाण्डुप्रदरशान्त्यर्थं पिबेत्तण्डुलवारिणा ॥ १,१७१.
To relieve anemia and excessive discharge, one should drink the sweet juice of āmalakī or the root of cotton plant with rice water.
तण्डुलीयकमूलं तु सक्षौद्रे सरसाञ्जनम् । तण्डुलोदकसंपीतं सर्वांश्चासृक्दराञ्जयेत् । कुशमूलं तण्डुलाद्भिः पीतं चासृक्दरं जयेत् ॥ १,१७१.
The root of taṇḍulīyaka, mixed with honey and fresh juice, taken with rice water, cures all types of excessive bleeding; the root of kuśa, taken with rice water, also cures excessive bleeding.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १७२ धन्वन्तरिरुवाच । स्त्रीरोगादिचिकित्सां च वक्ष्ये सुश्रुत तच्छृणु । योनिव्यापत्सु भूयिष्टं शस्यते कर्म वातजित् ॥ १,१७२.
Dhanvantari said: I will now explain the treatment of women's diseases, O Suśruta, listen; in disorders of the womb, therapies that pacify wind are especially recommended.
वचोपकुञ्चिकाजातीकृष्णावासकसैन्धवम् । अजमोदायवक्षारं चित्रकं शर्करान्वितम् ॥ १,१७२.
A mixture of vacā, pakuñcikā, jātī, kṛṣṇā, vāsaka, rock salt, ajamodā, yavakṣāra, citraka, and sugar should be prepared.
पिष्ट्वालोड्य जलाद्यैश्च खादयेद्धृतभर्जितम् । योनिपार्श्वार्तिहृद्रोगगुल्मार्शो विनिवर्तयेत् ॥ १,१७२.
After grinding and mixing these with water and other liquids, one should consume them fried in ghee; this remedy alleviates pain in the womb, sides, heart, abdominal tumors, and hemorrhoids.
बदरीपत्रसंलेपाद्योनिर्भिन्ना प्रशाम्यति । लोध्रतुम्बीफलालेपाद्योनेर्दार्ढ्यं करोति च ॥ १,१७२.
By applying a paste of badarī leaves, a ruptured womb is soothed; by applying a paste of lodhra and tumbī fruit, firmness of the womb is achieved.
पञ्चपल्लवपिष्टाह्वमालतीकुसुमैर्घृतम् । रविपक्वमसृग्धारं योनिगन्धविनाशनम् ॥ १,१७२.
Ghee cooked with the paste of five leaves and mālatī flowers, prepared in sunlight, stops abnormal uterine bleeding and removes foul odor from the womb.
सकाञ्जिकं जपापुष्पपुष्पं ज्योतिष्मतीदलम् । दूर्वापिष्टं च संप्राश्य चित्रकं शर्करान्वितम् ॥ १,१७२.
A preparation of japa flowers with sour gruel, jyotiṣmatī leaves, and a paste of dūrvā, along with citraka and sugar, should be consumed.
धात्र्यञ्जनाभयाचूर्णं तोयपीतं रजो हरेत् । सदुग्धा लक्ष्मणा पीता नस्याद्वा पुत्रदा ऋतौ ॥ १,१७२.
A powder of dhātrī, añjana, and abhaya, taken with water, removes menstrual disorders; Lakṣmaṇā taken with milk, or used as nasal drops during the fertile period, grants a child.
दुग्धस्यार्धाढकं चाज्यमश्वगन्धा च पुत्रदा । वन्ध्या पुत्रं लभेत्पीत्वा घृतेन व्योपकेसरम् ॥ १,१७२.
Half an āḍhaka of milk, ghee, and aśvagandhā grant a child; a barren woman, by drinking this with ghee and vyopakeśara, obtains a son.
कुशकाशोरुचृकानां मृलैर्गोक्षुरकस्य च । शृतं दुग्धं सितायुक्तं गर्भिण्याः शूलनुत्परम् ॥ १,१७२.
A decoction of kuśa, kāśa, urucṛka, mṛla, and gokṣuraka, with milk and sugar, is an excellent remedy for abdominal pain in pregnant women.
पाठालाङ्गलिसिंहाम्यमयूरकूटजैः पृथक् । नाभिबस्ति भगालेपात्सुखं नारी प्रसूयते ॥ १,१७२.
By applying separately pāṭhā, alaṅgali, siṃhā, mayūra, and kūṭaja to the navel, bladder, and vulva, a woman gives birth comfortably.
सूताया हृच्छिरोबस्तिशूलमर्कन्द (क्वल्ल) संज्ञितम् । यवक्षारं पिबेत्तत्र मस्तु कोष्णोदकेन वा ॥ १,१७२.
For the midwife's pain in the heart, head, and bladder, known as arkanda (or kvalla), one should drink yavakṣāra with buttermilk or warm water.
दशमूलीकृतः क्ताथः साज्यः मूतिरुजापहः । शातिलण्डुलचूर्णं तु सदुग्धं दुग्धकृद्भवेत् ॥ १,१७२.
A decoction of Daśamūla with ghee removes uterine pain; a powder of śātilā and rice, taken with milk, promotes milk production.
विदारी कन्दस्वरसं मूलं कार्पासजं तथा । धात्री स्तन्यविशुद्ध्यर्थं मुद्गयूपरसाशिनी ॥ १,१७२.
The juice of vidārī root and the root of the cotton plant, along with dhātrī, purify breast milk; eating mudga soup is also beneficial.
कुष्ठा वचाभया ब्राह्मी मधुरा क्षौद्रसर्पिषा । वर्णायुः कान्तिजननं लेह्यं वालम्य दापयेत् ॥ १,१७२.
One should administer as a lickable medicine for children afflicted with vāla: kuṣṭha, vacā, abhaya, brāhmī, madhurā, with honey and ghee; this brings complexion, longevity, and charm.
स्तन्याभावे पयश्छागं गव्यं वा तद्गुणं पिवेत् । स्वेदनं नाग्निशोफार्ते मृदा स्यादग्नितप्तया ॥ १,१७२.
In the absence of breast milk, one should give goat's milk or cow's milk, which have similar qualities; for those suffering from swelling without heat, fomentation should be done with earth heated by fire.
लेहो मुस्तविपायाश्च वमिकासज्वरे पिबेत् । सुस्तशुण्ठीविषाविल्वकूटजैरतिसारनुत ॥ १,१७२.
A lickable preparation of musta and vipāyaka should be given in vomiting and fever; for diarrhea, a mixture of dry ginger, viṣā, vilva, and kūṭaja is effective.
मधु व्योषं मातुलुङ्गं हिक्काच्छर्दिनिवारणम् । कुष्ठेन्द्रयवसिद्धार्था निशा दूर्वा च कुष्ठजित् ॥ १,१७२.
Honey, vyoṣa, and mātuluṅga are remedies for hiccup and vomiting; kuṣṭha, indrayava, siddhārthaka, niśā, and dūrvā are curative for skin diseases.
महामुण्जितिकोजीच्यकाथैः स्नानं ग्रहापहम् । सप्तच्छदामयनिशाचन्दनैश्चानुलेपनम् ॥ १,१७२.
Bathing with decoctions of mahāmuñjā, tikta, and jīcya removes afflictions caused by planets; anointing with saptacchada, amaya, niśā, and candana is also prescribed.
शङ्खाब्जबीजरुद्राक्षवचालौहादिधारणम् । ओं कं टं यं गं वैनतेयाय नमः । ओं हों हां हः मन्त्रेण शान्तिर्वालानां मार्जनाद्वलिदानतः । ओं ह्रीं बालम्रहाद्वलिं गृह्णीत वालं मुञ्चत स्वाहा ॥ १,१७२.
Wearing conch, lotus seed, rudrākṣa, vacā, and iron is recommended; with the mantra: 'oṃ kaṃ ṭaṃ yaṃ gaṃ, obeisance to Vainateya; oṃ hoṃ hāṃ haḥ,' peace is achieved for children by sprinkling and tying threads; 'oṃ hrīṃ bālamrahādvaliṃ gṛhṇīta vālaṃ muñcata svāhā.'
तण्डुलाद्भिः शिरीपस्य पलं पीतं विषापहम् । तण्डुलाद्भिश्च वर्षाभ्वाः शुक्लायाः सर्पदंशनुत् ॥ १,१७२.
A pala of śirīṣa taken with rice water is an antidote to poison; and rice water with varṣābhvā or śuklā is a remedy for snakebite.
दध्याज्यं तण्डुलीयं च गृहधृमो निशा तथा । पिष्टं पानं तथा क्षौद्रं सिन्धृत्थस्य विपान्तकम् ॥ १,१७२.
Curd, ghee, rice water, gṛhadhṛma, niśā, and a paste or drink with honey are effective in counteracting the poison of sindhṛttha.
अङ्कोटमूलनिष्क्वाथः साज्यः पीतो विषान्तकः । यज्जराव्याधिविध्वंसि भेषजं तद्रसायनम् ॥ १,१७२.
A decoction of aṅkoṭa root with ghee, when drunk, is an antidote to poison; this medicine destroys old age and disease, and is considered a rejuvenator.
सिन्दूत्यरार्कराशुण्ठीकणामधुगुडैः क्रमात् । वर्षादिष्वभया सेव्या रसायनगुणौषिणा ॥ १,१७२.
Sindūti, arārka, rāśuṇṭhī, kaṇā, honey, and jaggery, taken in sequence, are to be used during the rainy season and so on, along with abhaya, by those seeking the qualities of rejuvenation.
