Garuda Purana

मुखरोगे तु त्रिफलागण्डूषपरिधारणम् । गृहधूम यवक्षारपाठाव्योपरसाञ्जनम् ॥ १,१७१.

For mouth diseases, gargling and rinsing with triphalā, smoke from the house, barley ash, pāṭhā, and vyopara, as well as collyrium, are recommended.

तेजोदं त्रिफलालोध्रं चित्रकं चेति चूर्णितम् । सक्षौद्रं धारयेद्वक्त्रे ग्रीवादन्तास्यरोगनुत् ॥ १,१७१.

Powdered tejoda, triphalā, lodhra, and citraka mixed with honey should be held in the mouth; it cures diseases of the throat, neck, teeth, and mouth.

पटोल निम्बजम्व्वाग्रमालतीनवपल्लवाः । पञ्चपल्लवकः श्रेष्ठः कषयो मुखधावने ॥ १,१७१.

Paṭola, neem, vāgra, mālatī, and new leaves—this five-leaf mixture is excellent, astringent, and used for mouthwash.

लशुनार्द्रकशिग्रूणां पारुल्या मूलकस्य च । रुदन्त्याश्च रसः श्रेष्ठः कदुष्णः कर्णपूरणे ॥ १,१७१.

The juice of garlic, fresh ginger, drumstick, radish, and of the plant called rudantī is best; it is pungent and hot for ear filling.

तीव्रशूलोत्तरे कर्णे सशब्दे क्लेदवाहिनि । बस्तमूत्रं क्षिपेत्कोष्णं सैन्धवेनावचूर्णितम् ॥ १,१७१.

For severe pain in the ear, with noise and discharge, lukewarm urine of cow, mixed with powdered rock salt, should be instilled.

जातीपत्ररसे तैलं पक्वं पूतिककर्णजित् । शुण्ठीतैलं सार्षपं च क्रोष्णं स्यात्कर्णशूलनुत् ॥ १,१७१.

Oil cooked with the juice of jātī leaves conquers putrid ear conditions; warm oil of dry ginger and mustard alleviates ear pain.

पञ्चमूलिशृतं क्षीरं स्याच्चित्रकहरीतकी । सर्पिर्गुडः षडङ्गश्चयूषः पीनसशान्तये ॥ १,१७१.

Milk boiled with pañcamūla, with citraka, harītakī, clarified butter, jaggery, and the six-ingredient decoction, relieves nasal congestion.

अक्षिकुक्षिभवा रोगाः प्रतिश्यायव्रणज्वराः । पञ्चैते पञ्चरात्रेण प्रशमं यान्ति लङ्घनात् ॥ १,१७१.

Diseases arising in the eyes and abdomen, catarrh, ulcers, and fevers—these five are subdued within five nights by fasting.

धात्रीरसानाञ्च दृशः कोपं हरति पूरणात् । सक्षौद्रः सैन्धवो वापि शिग्रुदार्विरसाञ्जनम् ॥ १,१७१.

Instillation of the juice of emblic myrobalan removes inflammation of the eyes; or an ointment of horseradish and radish juice with honey and rock salt.

हरिद्रादारुसिन्धूत्थपथ्याजनवगौरिकैः । पिष्टैर्दत्तो बहिर्लपो नेत्रव्याधिनिवारकः ॥ १,१७१.

A poultice made from turmeric, deodar, rock salt, pathyā, ajwain, and cow's ghee, applied externally, cures eye diseases.

मृतभ्रष्टाभयालेपात्त्रिफला क्षीरसंयुता । शुण्ठीनिम्बदलैः पिष्टैः सुखोष्णैः स्वल्पसैन्धवैः । धार्यश्चक्षुषि संक्षेपाच्छोथकण्डूरुजापहः ॥ १,१७१.

A paste of triphalā with milk, or with dry ginger and neem leaves, slightly warm and with a little rock salt, applied to the eyes, quickly removes swelling, itching, and pain.

अभयाक्षामृतं चैकद्विचतुर्भागिकं युतम् । मध्वाज्यलीढं क्वाथो वा सर्वनेत्ररुगर्दनम् ॥ १,१७१.

A decoction of abhayā and harītakī, in portions of one, two, or four, taken with honey and clarified butter, destroys all eye diseases.

चन्दनत्रिफलापूगपलाशतरुमूलकैः । जलपिष्टैरियं विर्तिरशेषतिमिरापहा ॥ १,१७१.

An ointment made from sandalwood, triphalā, areca nut, and the roots of palāśa tree, ground with water, removes all darkness of vision.

दध्नातिघृष्टं मरिचं रात्र्यान्ध्यापहमञ्जनम् । त्रिफलाक्वाथकल्काभ्यां सपयस्कं शृतं घृतम् ॥ १,१७१.

Pepper well ground with curd is an ointment that removes night blindness; clarified butter cooked with the paste and decoction of triphalā and with payas is beneficial.

तिमिराण्यचिराद्धन्यात्पीतमेतन्निशामुखे । पिप्पलीत्रिफला द्राक्षालोहचूर्णं ससैन्धवम् ॥ १,१७१.

If this is taken at night, it quickly cures darkness of vision; pippalī, triphalā, grapes, iron powder, and rock salt.

भृङ्गराजरसैर्घृष्टं घुटिकाञ्जनमिष्यते । आन्ध्यं सतिमिरं काचं हन्त्यन्यान्नेत्ररोगकान् ॥ १,१७१.

An ointment made by grinding bhṛṅgarāja juice is recommended; it destroys blindness, darkness, cataract, and other eye diseases.

त्रिकटु त्रिफला नक्त सैन्धवं च मनः शिला । रुचकं शङ्खनाभिश्च जातीपुष्पाणि निम्बकम् ॥ १,१७१.

Trikaṭu, triphalā, saindhava, manaḥśilā, rucaka, conch shell, jātī flowers, and neem—

रसाञ्जनं भृङ्गराजं घृतं मधु पयस्तथा । एतत्पिष्ट्वा च वटिका सर्वनेत्ररुगर्दिनी ॥ १,१७१.

—with rasāñjana, bhṛṅgarāja, clarified butter, honey, and milk, ground together into pills, destroy all eye diseases.

दग्धमेरण्डकं मूलं लेपात्काकिकपेषितम् । शिरोऽर्तिं नाशयत्याशु पुष्पं वा मुचुकुन्दक (ज) म् ॥ १,१७१.

A poultice of the root of castor, burnt and pounded with crow's feces, or the flower of mucukunda, quickly removes head pain.

शतमूल्यैरण्डमूलचक्राव्याघ्रीपलैः शृतम् । तैलं नस्यमरुश्लेष्मतिमिरोर्ध्वर्(द्ध) गदापहम् ॥ १,१७१.

Oil cooked with śatamūlī, castor root, cakrā, vyāghrī, and palāśa, used as nasal drops, removes dryness, phlegm, darkness, and diseases of the upper region.

नाचनं (लनणं) सगुडं विश्वं पिप्पली वा ससैन्धवा । भुजस्तम्भादिरोगेषु सर्वेषूर्ध्वगदेषु च ॥ १,१७१.

Nācana (or lanaṇa) with jaggery, or pippalī with rock salt, is beneficial in paralysis of the arm and all diseases of the upper part of the body.

सूर्यावर्ते विधातव्यं नस्यकर्मादिभेषजम् । दशमूलीकषायं तु सर्पिः सैन्धवसंयुतम् । नस्यमङ्गविभेदघ्नं सूर्यावर्तशिरोऽर्तिनुत् ॥ १,१७१.

For disorders related to the sun's orbit, nasal therapies and other medicines should be administered; a decoction of Daśamūla mixed with ghee and rock salt, used as nasal drops, alleviates splitting of the limbs and head pain caused by the sun's orbit.

दध्ना सौवर्चलाजाजीमधूकं नीलमुत्पलम् । पिबेत्क्षौद्रयुतं नारी वातासृग्दरपीडिता ॥ १,१७१.

A woman afflicted by wind or blood disorders should drink a mixture of yogurt, black salt, ajwain, madhuka, blue lotus, and honey.

वासकस्वरसं पैत्ते गुडूच्या रसमेव वा । जलेनामलकीबीजं कल्कं वाससितामधु ॥ १,१७१.

For bile disorders, one should take the fresh juice of Vāsaka or Gudūcī, or a paste of āmalakī seeds with water, along with Vāsa, sugar, and honey.

आमलक्या मधुरसं मूलं कार्पासमेव वा । पाण्डुप्रदरशान्त्यर्थं पिबेत्तण्डुलवारिणा ॥ १,१७१.

To relieve anemia and excessive discharge, one should drink the sweet juice of āmalakī or the root of cotton plant with rice water.

तण्डुलीयकमूलं तु सक्षौद्रे सरसाञ्जनम् । तण्डुलोदकसंपीतं सर्वांश्चासृक्दराञ्जयेत् । कुशमूलं तण्डुलाद्भिः पीतं चासृक्दरं जयेत् ॥ १,१७१.

The root of taṇḍulīyaka, mixed with honey and fresh juice, taken with rice water, cures all types of excessive bleeding; the root of kuśa, taken with rice water, also cures excessive bleeding.

श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १७२ धन्वन्तरिरुवाच । स्त्रीरोगादिचिकित्सां च वक्ष्ये सुश्रुत तच्छृणु । योनिव्यापत्सु भूयिष्टं शस्यते कर्म वातजित् ॥ १,१७२.

Dhanvantari said: I will now explain the treatment of women's diseases, O Suśruta, listen; in disorders of the womb, therapies that pacify wind are especially recommended.

वचोपकुञ्चिकाजातीकृष्णावासकसैन्धवम् । अजमोदायवक्षारं चित्रकं शर्करान्वितम् ॥ १,१७२.

A mixture of vacā, pakuñcikā, jātī, kṛṣṇā, vāsaka, rock salt, ajamodā, yavakṣāra, citraka, and sugar should be prepared.

पिष्ट्वालोड्य जलाद्यैश्च खादयेद्धृतभर्जितम् । योनिपार्श्वार्तिहृद्रोगगुल्मार्शो विनिवर्तयेत् ॥ १,१७२.

After grinding and mixing these with water and other liquids, one should consume them fried in ghee; this remedy alleviates pain in the womb, sides, heart, abdominal tumors, and hemorrhoids.
