मुस्तपर्पटकदिव्यशृङ्गवेरशृतं पयः । शालपर्णो पृश्रिपर्णो बृहती कण्टकारिका ॥ १,१७०.
Milk boiled with musta, parpaṭaka, divyaśṛṅgavera, śālaparṇī, pṛśniparṇī, bṛhatī, and kaṇṭakārikā is beneficial.
बलाश्वदंष्ट्राबिल्वादि पाठानागरधान्यकम् । एतदाहारसंयोगे हितं सर्वातिसारिणाम् ॥ १,१७०.
Balā, aśvadanṣṭrā, bilva, pāṭhā, nāgara, and dhānyaka, when combined in the diet, are beneficial for all those suffering from diarrhea.
बिल्वचूतास्थिक्वाथश्च खण्डं मध्वतिसारनुत् । अतिसारे हिता तद्वत्कुटजत्वक्कणायुता ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction of bilva and mango stones, mixed with sugar, cures diarrhea; similarly, one with kuṭaja bark is beneficial.
वत्सकातिविषाविश्वकणाकन्दकषायकः । प्रयुक्तश्चामशूलाढ्ये ह्यतीसारे सशोणित ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction of vatsaka, ativiṣā, viśvakaṇā, and kaṇḍa is effective in cases of diarrhea with pain and blood.
चिकित्साथ ग्रहण्यास्तुग्रहणी चाग्रिनाशिनी । चित्रकाक्वाथक्लकाभ्यां ग्रहणीघ्नं क्षृतं हविः । गुल्मशोथोदरप्लीहशूलार्शोघ्नं प्रदीपनम् ॥ १,१७०.
Now, the treatment for grahaṇī: Grahaṇī is destroyed by clarified butter prepared with the decoction and paste of citraka; it stimulates digestion and cures gulma, swelling, abdominal diseases, spleen disorders, pain, and hemorrhoids.
सौवर्चलं सैन्धवञ्च विडङ्गौद्भिदमेव च । सामुद्रेण समं पञ्चलवणान्यत्र योजयेत् ॥ १,१७०.
Sauvarcala, saindhava, viḍaṅga, and udbhida, combined with sāmudra, should be used together as the five salts in this context.
भेषजं शस्त्रक्षाराग्न्यस्त्रिधा वै चार्शसां हरम् । विद्धि तच्चार्शसोघ्नन्तु यद्धि तक्रं नवोद्धृतम् ॥ १,१७०.
Medicine for piles is threefold: surgery, alkaline substances, and fire. Know that freshly churned buttermilk is also a remedy for piles.
गुडूटीं पिप्पलीयुक्तामभयां घृतभर्जिताम् । त्रिवृदर्शोविनाशार्थं भक्षयेदम्ललोणिकाम् ॥ १,१७०.
One should eat sour and salty preparations made from guduchi, long pepper, and fried abhayā in ghee, for the destruction of piles and constipation.
तिलेक्षुरससंयोगश्चार्शः कुष्ठ विनाशनः । पञ्चकोलं समरिचं सत्र्यूषणमथाग्निकृत् ॥ १,१७०.
A mixture of sesame juice is a destroyer of piles and skin diseases; the five kolas, black pepper, and three kinds of pungent spices stimulate digestion.
हरीतकी भक्ष्यमाणा नागेरण गुडेन वा । सैन्धवोपहिता वापि सातत्येनाग्निदीपनी ॥ १,१७०.
Harītakī, when eaten, or taken with ginger and jaggery, or with rock salt, consistently stimulates the digestive fire.
फलत्रिकामृतासातिक्ताभूनिम्बनिम्बजः । क्वाथः क्षौद्रयुतो हन्यात्पाण्डुरोगं सकामलम् ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction of phalatrika, amrita, bitter bhūnimba, and nimba, mixed with honey, destroys jaundice and anemia.
त्रिवृच्च त्रिफला श्यामा पिप्पली शर्कग मधु । मोदकः सन्निपातान्तो रक्तपित्तज्वरापहः ॥ १,१७०.
A sweetmeat made from trivṛt, triphalā, śyāmā, long pepper, sugar, and honey removes fevers caused by blood and bile, as well as complex disorders.
वासायां विद्यमानायामाशायां जीवितस्य च । रक्तपित्ती क्षयी कासी किमर्थमवसीदति ॥ १,१७०.
When vāsā is present in the body and life remains, why does one afflicted with blood-bile, wasting, and cough become weakened?
आटरूपकमृद्वीकापथ्याक्वाथः सशर्करः । क्षौद्राढ्यः कासनिः श्वासरक्तपित्तनिबर्हणः ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction of āṭarūpa, grapes, and pathyā, with sugar and abundant honey, removes cough, breathlessness, and blood-bile disorders.
वासारसः खण्डमधुयुतः पीतोऽथरक्तजित् । सल्लकीबदरीजम्बुप्रियालाम्रार्जुनं धवः । पीतं क्षीरञ्च मध्वाढ्यं पृथक्छोणितवारणम् ॥ १,१७०.
Juice of vāsā mixed with sugar, when drunk, conquers blood disorders. Sallakī, badarī, jambu, priyāla, mango, arjuna, and dhava, when taken with milk and honey separately, also stop bleeding.
समूलफलपत्राया निर्गुण्ड्याः स्वरसैर्घृतम् । सिद्धं पीत्वा क्षयक्षीणी निर्व्यादिर्भाति देववत् ॥ १,१७०.
After drinking ghee prepared with the juice of nirguṇḍī, including its root, fruit, and leaves, one suffering from wasting becomes free of disease and shines like a deity.
हरीतकी कणा शुण्ठी मरिचं गुडसंयुतम् । कासघ्नो मोदकः प्रोक्तस्तृष्णारोचकनाशनः ॥ १,१७०.
A sweetmeat made from harītakī, long pepper, dry ginger, black pepper, and jaggery is said to destroy cough and relieve thirst and loss of appetite.
कण्टकारिगुडूचीभ्यां पृथक्त्रिंशत्पले रसे । प्रस्थं सिद्धं घृतं स्याच्च कासनुद्वह्निदापनम् ॥ १,१७०.
Ghee prepared from thirty palas of juice of kaṇṭakāri and gudūcī, separately, in the amount of one prastha, is effective for cough and stimulates digestion.
कृष्णा धात्री शिता शुण्ठी हक्काघ्नी मधुसंयुता । हिक्काश्वासी पिवेद्भार्ङ्गो सविश्वामुष्णवारिणा ॥ १,१७०.
Black nightshade, amla, white nightshade, dry ginger, and honey, taken together, destroy hiccups and breathlessness; one should drink bhārṅga with viśvā and warm water.
तैलाक्तं स्वरभेदे वा खादिरं धारयेन्मुखे । पथ्यां पिप्पलिकायुक्तां संयुक्तां नागरेण वा ॥ १,१७०.
For voice disorders, one should hold khādira smeared with oil in the mouth, or pathyā mixed with long pepper, or combined with ginger.
विडङ्गत्रिलाचूर्णं छर्दिहृन्मधुना सह । आम्रजम्बूकषायं वा पिबोन्माक्षिकसंयुतम् ॥ १,१७०.
Powder of viḍaṅga and trilā, taken with honey, or a decoction of mango and jambu mixed with honey, should be drunk for vomiting.
छर्दि सर्वां प्रणुदति तृष्णाञ्चैवापकर्षति । त्रिफला भ्रममूर्छाहृत्पीता सा मधुनापि वा ॥ १,१७०.
Triphalā, when drunk with honey, removes all vomiting and thirst, as well as dizziness and fainting.
पञ्चगव्यं हितं पानादपस्मारग्रहादिनुत् । कूष्माण्डकरसो वाज्यं सयष्टिकं तदर्थकृत् ॥ १,१७०.
Drinking pañcagavya is beneficial for epilepsy and disorders caused by spirits; juice of kūṣmāṇḍa with rice is also effective for that purpose.
ब्राह्मीरसवचाकुष्ठशङ्खपुष्पीभिरेव च । पुराणं सेव्यमुन्मादग्रहापस्मारद्घृनुतम् ॥ १,१७०.
Old ghee prepared with brahmi, vacā, kuṣṭha, and śaṅkhapuṣpī should be used for madness, spirit disorders, and epilepsy.
अश्वगन्धाकषाये च कल्के क्षीरे चतुर्गुणे । घृतपक्वन्तु वातघ्नं वृष्यं मां साय पुत्रकृत् ॥ १,१७०.
Let her take a decoction of aśvagandhā, or a paste in four times the amount of milk, cooked with ghee; this remedy pacifies vāta, promotes virility, and grants sons.
नीलीमुण्डीरिकाचूर्णं मधुसर्पिः समन्वितम् । छिन्नाक्वाथं पिबन्हन्ति वातरक्तं सुदुस्तरम् ॥ १,१७०.
Powder of nīlī and muṇḍī mixed with honey and ghee, taken with a decoction of chinnā, destroys vātarakta, even when very severe.
सगुडाः पञ्च पथ्याश्च कुष्टार्शोवातसादनाः । गडचीस्वरसं कल्कं चूर्णं वा क्वाथमेव वा ॥ १,१७०.
Five pathyās with jaggery are remedies for kuṣṭha, piles, and vāta disorders; their juice, paste, powder, or decoction may be used.
वातरक्तान्तकं कालागुडूचीक्वाथकल्कतः । कुष्ठव्रणादिशमनं शृतमाज्यं सदुग्धकम् ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction and paste of kālāguḍūcī ends vātarakta; cooked with ghee and milk, it soothes kuṣṭha, wounds, and similar conditions.
त्रिफलागुग्गुलुर्वातरक्तमूर्छापहारकः । ऊरुस्तम्भविनाशाय गोमूत्रेण च गुग्गुलुः ॥ १,१७०.
Triphalā and guggulu remove vātarakta and unconsciousness; guggulu with cow’s urine destroys stiffness of the thighs.
शुण्ठीगोक्षुरकक्वाथः सामवातार्तिशूलनुत् । दशमूलामृतैरण्डरास्नानागरदारुभिः ॥ १,१७०.
A decoction of dry ginger and gokṣura relieves pain from vāta and sāmavāta; also with daśamūla, amṛta, eraṇḍa, rāsnā, nāgara, and dāru.
