Because of this, the stool becomes hard, dry, and mixed with wind, causing severe pain in the abdomen, back, heart, and sides.

Because of the upward movement of wind, there arise vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, heart disease, disorders of digestion, retention of urine, and diarrhea.
Deafness, severe headache, breathlessness, head pain, cough, nasal congestion, mental disturbances, thirst, difficulty breathing, disorders of bile, abdominal tumors, and similar conditions also occur.
These are the diseases caused by wind, arising intensely and severely; among them, the most dangerous are those with terrible names, leading even to death and severe complications.
Even without these, those whose bowels are afflicted by wind develop inherent disorders, as well as those that are internal and associated with the channels.
Those which are established are incurable, but may be managed by the strength of digestive fire and other means; those arising from the combination of two humors, and those dependent on the second channel, are also described.
These are said to be difficult to cure, taking years to resolve; those arising in the external channel and dominated by a single humor are also described.
Hemorrhoids are easily curable and do not take long to develop; those that arise in the genitals and similar areas will be described according to their type, but not those that are congenital.
The forms of worm infestation are slimy and soft; when the circulating wind takes up phlegm, it produces external hemorrhoids on the skin.
They know the hard, immovable, wart-like skin growths; pain and roughness are caused by wind, blackening of the mouth by bile.
Oily texture, knotting, and normal color are due to phlegm; a wise person should quickly strive for the relief of hemorrhoids, for these diseases can soon cause obstruction of the anus and abdomen.
Dhanvantari said: I will now explain to you, O Suśruta, the causes of diarrhea and digestive disorders, which are of six kinds, arising from the disturbance of the humors, either singly or together, and from fear and grief.
Diarrhea especially arises from excessive drinking of water, as well as from eating dry food, raw meat, unctuous substances, sesame flour, and improperly cooked grains.
It also arises from excessive consumption of alcohol, dry and excessive foods, confusion of tastes and unctuousness, and from the opposition of worms and improper combinations, which provoke wind.
The disturbed wind disperses downward, destroying the digestive fire; thus, the food, feces, and bowels are affected, resulting in looseness of stool and other symptoms.
These are considered the signs of impending diarrhea: disturbance in the heart, anus, and bowels, sweating of the limbs, and retention of impurities.
In this condition, there is bloating and indigestion without fever, the stool is scanty, silent, and difficult to pass.
The stool is dry, frothy, and clear, passed repeatedly or at intervals; it may appear burnt or poisoned, slimy, and cause cutting pain.
With a dried and contracted anus, hair standing on end, and sighing, when bile is involved, the stool is yellow, resembling turmeric or green grass.
It is blood-stained, extremely foul-smelling, mixed with undigested grass, accompanied by sweating and burning; there is pain, heat in the rectum, a desire for pungent tastes, and thick phlegm.
There, the discharge is slimy, scanty, and flowing; it causes hair loss, severe discomfort, and heaviness in the bladder, anus, and abdomen.
Even when performed, if not properly assimilated, it affects the entire being with all its signs; when the mind is disturbed by fear and the person lies down, it is expelled.
Then, wind should be restrained quickly with warm, liquid, and light substances; the signs are similar in wind and bile disorders, and likewise in grief.
In summary, diarrhea is of two types: with impurity and without impurity; when mixed with blood, it is a disorder of the fluids, and due to heaviness, it is released into water; the stool is foul-smelling, noisy, obstructed, and causes pain.
The opposite, without impurity, is caused by phlegm, but does not sink; among diarrheas, one who is not very careful becomes afflicted with grahani disease.
For him, due to excessive accumulation of factors that extinguish the digestive fire, whether the stool is impure or pure, it is digested and then expelled as diarrhea.
This diarrhea, by its nature, causes excessive discharge; when mixed with impurity, it is undigested, but when digested, it is not so.
Long-standing grahani disorder causes accumulation and compels fasting; sometimes there is sudden trembling, sometimes sudden joint pain; it arises in four ways according to the different humors, and also from their combination.
The early symptoms are weakness of the limbs, persistent wind, slight salivation, bad taste in the mouth, loss of appetite, thirst, fatigue, and dizziness.
