सरक्तः परिकृन्तंश्च कृच्छ्रादाकुञ्चति श्वसन् । अन्त्रकूजनमाटोपः क्षारितोद्गारभूरिता ॥ १,१५६.
Mixed with blood, cut off, breathing becomes difficult and contracted; there is rumbling in the intestines, bloating, excessive belching, and frequent expulsion.
प्रभूतमूत्रमल्पा विडश्रद्धा धूम्रकोष्ठकः । शिरः पृष्ठोरसां शूलमालस्यं भिन्नवर्चसम् ॥ १,१५६.
Urine is abundant, stool scanty, appetite weak, the abdomen dusky; pain in the head, back, and chest, fatigue, and altered feces.
इन्द्रियार्थेषु लौल्यं च क्रोधो दुः खोपचारतः । आशङ्का ग्रहणी शोथः पाण्डुगुल्मोदरेषु च ॥ १,१५६.
There is restlessness toward sense objects, anger due to distress, suspicion, retention, swelling, and pallor in the abdomen.
एतान्येव विवर्धन्ते जातेष्वहतनामसु । निवर्तमानो मानो हि तैरधोमार्गरोधतः ॥ १,१५६.
These symptoms increase in those whose digestion is impaired; as the wind turns back, it is obstructed by these in the lower path.
क्षोभयेदनिलानन्यान् सर्वेन्द्रियशरीगान् । तथा मूत्रशकृत्पित्तकफान्वायुश्च शोषयन् ॥ १,१५६.
It agitates the other winds, all the senses and the body; likewise, it dries up urine, stool, bile, phlegm, and wind.
मुष्णात्यग्निं ततः सर्वे भवन्ति प्रायशोर्ऽशसः । कृशो भृशं हतोत्साहो दीनः क्षामोऽथ निष्प्रभः ॥ १,१५६.
It destroys the digestive fire, and then all become mostly emaciated; thin, greatly lacking enthusiasm, dejected, wasted, and dull.
असारी विगतच्छायो जन्तुदग्ध इवद्रुम । कृच्छ्रैरुग्रद्रवैर्ग्रस्तो यक्ष्मोक्तैर्मर्मपीडनैः ॥ १,१५६.
Without essence, devoid of luster, like a tree scorched by insects; afflicted by severe, fast-flowing humors and pains described as consumption, tormenting the vital points.
तथा काशपिपासास्यवैरस्यश्वासपीनसैः । क्लमाङ्गभङ्गवमथुक्षवथुश्वयथुज्वरैः ॥ १,१५६.
Also with cough, thirst, dryness of mouth, tastelessness, breathlessness, nasal congestion; fatigue, breaking of limbs, grinding, sneezing, swelling, and fever.
क्लैब्यबाधिर्यस्तैमित्यशर्करापरिपीडितः । क्षामो भिन्नस्वरो ध्यायन्मुहुः ष्ठीवन्नरोचकी ॥ १,१५६.
Afflicted by impotence, deafness, stiffness, and gravel; wasted, with altered voice, meditating, repeatedly spitting, and lacking appetite.
सर्वपर्वास्थिहृन्नाभीपायुवङ्क्षणशूलवान् । गुदेनस्त्रवता पित्तं बलाकोदरसन्निभम् ॥ १,१५६.
Pain in all joints, bones, heart, navel, anus, groin; bile flows from the rectum, resembling the belly of a crane.
विशुष्कं चैव मुक्ताग्रं पक्वामं चान्तरान्तरम् । पाण्डुपित्तं हरिद्राक्तं पिच्छिलं चोपवेश्यते ॥ १,१५६.
Dry, expelled at the tip, ripe or unripe in between; pale bile, colored like turmeric, sticky, and passed while seated.
गुदाङ्कुरा बह्वनिलाः शुष्काश्चिमचिमान्विताः । पीनाङ्गारारुणाः स्तब्धा विषमाः परुषाकराः ॥ १,१५६.
Rectal sprouts, many winds, dry, accompanied by itching; fat, dark red, stiff, uneven, rough to the touch.
मिथो विसदृश वक्रास्तीक्ष्णा विस्फुटि(रि) ताननाः । शिम्बीखर्जृरकर्कन्धूकार्पासफलसन्निभाः ॥ १,१५६.
Mutually dissimilar, crooked, sharp, with split faces; resembling the fruits of jujube, date, karkandhu, and cotton.
केचित्कदम्बपुष्पाभाः केचित्सिद्धार्थकोपमाः । शिरः पार्श्वांसजङ्घोरुवङ्क्षणाद्यधिकव्यथाः ॥ १,१५६.
Some resemble kadamba flowers, some are like siddhartha seeds; there is excessive pain in the head, sides, calves, thighs, groin, and other areas.
क्षवथूद्गारविष्टम्भहृद्गहारोचकप्रदाः । कासश्वासाग्निवैषम्यकर्णनादभ्रमावहाः ॥ १,१५६.
They cause sneezing, belching, obstruction, heart pain, nausea, coughing, shortness of breath, irregular digestion, ringing in the ears, and dizziness.
तैरार्तो ग्रथितं स्तोकं सशब्दं सप्रवाहिकम् । रुक्फेनपिच्छानुगतं विबद्धमुपवेश्यते ॥ १,१५६.
Afflicted by these, the person passes stool that is lumpy, scanty, noisy, and comes out in a stream, accompanied by pain and mucus, and is difficult to expel.
कृष्णत्वग्बद्धविण्मूत्रनेत्रवक्त्रश्च जायते । गुल्मप्लीहोदराष्ठीलासंभवस्तस्य चैव हि ॥ १,१५६.
He develops dark skin, retention of urine and stool, and discoloration of the eyes and mouth; from this arise tumors, spleen disorders, abdominal swelling, and hard masses.
पित्तोत्तरा नीलमुखा रक्तपीतासितप्रभाः । तन्वग्रस्त्राविणो विश्रास्तनवो मृदवः श्लथाः ॥ १,१५६.
When bile predominates, the mouth turns blue, and the masses appear red, yellow, or black; they are thin, sharp, oozing, foul-smelling, slender, soft, and loose.
शुकजिह्वा यकृत्खण्डजलौकावक्त्रसन्निभाः । दाहशो (ष) कज्वरस्वेदतृण्मूर्छारुचिमोहदाः ॥ १,१५६.
Their tongues resemble that of a parrot, their mouths like a piece of liver or the mouth of a leech; they cause burning, fever, sweating, thirst, fainting, loss of appetite, and confusion.
सोष्माणो द्रवनीलोष्णपीतरक्तामवर्चसः । यवमध्या हरित्पीतहारिद्रत्वङ्नखादयः ॥ १,१५६.
They are hot, fluid, blue, warm, yellow, or red in color; their middles are like barley, and their skin, nails, and other parts are greenish-yellow.
श्लेष्मोल्बणा महामूला घना मन्दरुजः सिताः । उत्सन्नोपचितस्निग्धस्तब्धवृत्तगुरुस्थिराः ॥ १,१५६.
When phlegm predominates, the masses are large, dense, slightly painful, white, elevated, swollen, oily, stiff, round, heavy, and firm.
पिच्छिलाः स्तिमिताः श्लक्ष्णाः कण्ड्वाढ्याः स्पर्शनप्रियाः । करीरपनसास्थ्याभास्तथा गोस्तनसन्निभाः ॥ १,१५६.
They are slimy, still, smooth, rich in itching, pleasant to the touch, resembling the stem of the karira or jackfruit, and like the udder of a cow.
वङ्क्षणानाहिनः पुयुबस्तिनाभिविकर्तनाः । सकाशश्वासहृल्लासप्रसेकारुचिपीनसाः ॥ १,१५६.
Located in the groin, they are snake-like, with pus, causing pain in the bladder and navel; they are accompanied by shortness of breath, palpitations, excessive saliva, loss of appetite, and nasal congestion.
महकृच्छ्रशिरोजाड्यशिशिरक्षारकारिणः । क्लैब्याग्निमार्दवच्छर्द्यतीसारादिविकारदाः ॥ १,१५६.
They cause severe difficulty, heaviness of the head, coldness, and astringency; they bring about impotence, weak digestion, softness, vomiting, diarrhea, and other disorders.
वसाभसकफप्राज्यपुरीषासृक्प्रवाहिकाः । न स्त्रवन्ति न भिद्यन्ते पाण्डुस्निग्धत्वगादयः ॥ १,१५६.
The stools are rich in fat, mucus, and phlegm, and there is a flow of blood; they neither flow freely nor break apart, and the skin and other parts are pale and oily.
संसृष्टलिङ्गत्संसर्गनिचयात्सर्वलक्षणाः । रक्तोल्बणा गुदे कीलाः पीताकृतिसमन्विताः ॥ १,१५६.
When all symptoms are mixed together, all features appear; when blood predominates, the masses in the anus are yellowish in appearance.
वटप्रसेहसदृशाः गुञ्जाविद्रुमसन्निभाः । तेऽत्यर्थं दुष्टमुष्णं च गाढविष्टंभपीडिताः ॥ १,१५६.
They resemble the fruit of the banyan tree, or are like gunja or coral; they are extremely foul, hot, and severely obstructed and painful.
स्त्रवन्ति सहसा रक्तं तस्य चातिप्रवृत्तितः । केकाभः पीड्यते दुः खैः शोणितक्षयसम्भवैः ॥ १,१५६.
They suddenly discharge blood, and due to excessive flow, the person suffers with a cry like a peacock, afflicted by the consequences of blood loss.
हीनवर्णबलोत्साहो हतौजाः कलुषेन्द्रियः । मुद्गकोद्रवजंबीरकरीरचणकादिभिः ॥ १,१५६.
He becomes deficient in color, strength, enthusiasm, and vitality, with impaired senses, especially after consuming mudga, kodrava, jambira, karira, chanaka, and similar foods.
रूक्षैः संग्राहिभिर्वायुर्विट्स्थाने कुपितो बली । अधोवहानि स्रोतांसि संरुध्याधः प्रशोषयन् ॥ १,१५६.
When wind is aggravated by dry, binding foods, it becomes strong in the rectum, obstructs the downward channels, and dries out the lower parts.
