Generally, the boundary is followed for both liberation and destruction; this is the opinion of Agnivesha, and again the tradition of Harita.
The seventh day, which is doubled, as well as the ninth and eleventh; this is the boundary of the three doshas, for both liberation and destruction.
Due to purity or impurity, fever may persist for a long time here, especially in those who are emaciated, afflicted by disease, or who indulge in improper diet and similar habits.
Even a small defect, having gained strength from impurity or other causes, becomes antagonistic and irregular, because it is accompanied by increase and decrease.
With disturbance, it produces fever, having irregular increase and decrease; the dosha acts in them, fevering strongly at its own time.
It ceases again, with the strength or weakness of the antagonist; when the dosha is diminished, the subtle fever merges only into the fluids and so forth.
Because of merging, it causes emaciation, discoloration, dullness, and similar conditions; due to the proximity of altered mouths of the channels carrying fluids.
The defect does not quickly spread throughout the whole body; those who are virtuous are always thus, but the opposite occurs in the contrary case.
Irregular, with irregular onset, joined with the time of night; the dosha, residing in the blood, generally produces continuous fever.
At the junction of day and night, it occurs once, and on another day it is based; in that, the flesh-carrying channel, the fat channel, is in the third instance.
The grasping fever arises from bile and wind in the head, from phlegm and bile in the trika region; from wind and phlegm in the back, it is considered to occur after one day.
The fourth type, situated in the impurities, fat, marrow, or bone; another is only in the marrow and bone, showing its effect.
Phlegm is twofold, in the calves, first from wind in the head; when it reaches bone and marrow, it is the reverse of the fourth type.
Threefold, it causes fever for three days, but releases for one day; by the strength of the doshas, and the origin of other actions.
Due to the absence of reversal in the fevers, it fasts for seven nights; fever affects the mind similarly, and also actions, at that time and otherwise.
Because of deep-seated behavior in the tissues, and arising from combination, and equal increase of the doshas, the fourth type is difficult to treat.
From subtlety, in subtle fevers, and in those farther and farther away; the dosha, in the path of blood and so forth, slowly, slightly, over a long time.
It goes to the body and does not leave anything, causing burning and so forth; when the sequence is interrupted by effort, fever with burning is observed.
Uneven, with a difficult onset, following the course of the night; each successive stage is slower and weaker, as is appropriate.
Over time, it acquires corresponding tastes and qualities; the disorder burns fiercely when provoked, sometimes after a long delay.
A seed placed in the earth and moistened with water does not wait for time to sprout; so too, the seed of disorder acts likewise.
Just as poison, having gained momentum, brings its force into the body, so too, the disorder and poison, empowered by time, become agitated.
Thus fevers arise, irregular and persistent, causing agitation, heaviness, dejection, collapse of limbs, and stretching.
Loss of appetite, vomiting, breathlessness occur in every type of fever; spitting blood, thirst, dryness, heat, and painful effort.
Burning, redness, confusion, delirium, and babbling in those with blood involvement; thirst, fatigue, altered complexion, internal burning, dizziness, and darkness.
Foul smell, twitching of limbs, when the disorder is in the flesh or fat; sweating, excessive thirst, vomiting, foul odor, or endurance.
Delirium, fatigue, loss of appetite, pain in the bones and their splitting; activation of disorder, awakening, breathlessness, spasms, and groaning.
Internal burning, external coldness, breathlessness, hiccups in the marrow; darkness of vision, cutting pain in vital spots, stiffness of the genitals.
When the disorder reaches the semen, death arises in those with semen involvement; the five that follow are increasingly difficult to cure in reverse order.
As if smeared over the limbs, heaviness from phlegm; in mild fever, delirium occurs with coldness and a covering sensation.
