There is prolonged ripening of the humors, persistent drowsiness, constant croaking in the throat; when all the humors are disturbed together, it is said to destroy vitality.
When the wind is obstructed in the throat and bile is greatly oppressed within, after intercourse or pleasure, it seeks an external path; thus, yellowing of the eyes arises in fever caused by the combined disturbance of humors.
When the humors are increased and the digestive fire is lost, and all the signs are present, the fever from combined humors is incurable; otherwise, it is difficult but curable.
Elsewhere, when fever arises from the combination of humors but bile is separately situated, it causes burning in the skin or abdomen, either before or after.
Likewise, in the case of wind and phlegm, there is coldness; burning and similar symptoms are hard to overcome when both are involved. In the beginning of coldness, bile is present; with phlegm, there is oozing and dryness.

At first, heat arises in the body in bodily fever, and in the mind in mental fever; due to the influence of wind, coldness occurs when phlegm is present.
Burning occurs when bile is involved; when mixed, it again takes refuge internally; in fever, greater disorders arise, with internal agitation and retention of wastes.
When the force is external, the heat is also external and thus established; in the rainy, autumn, and spring seasons, fever arises from wind and other humors in due order.
The unnatural type is different and difficult to cure, while the natural one mostly arises from wind; in the rains, disturbed wind causes fever associated with bile and phlegm.
