महामना महाशालदुशीनर इह स्मृतः । अशीनराच्छिबिर्जज्ञे वृषदर्भः शिवेः सुतः ॥ १,१३९.
Here, Mahāmanā, the great-minded one, is remembered as Mahāśāla Duśīnara; from Aśīnara was born Śibi, and from Śibi, Vṛṣadarbha, son of Śivi.
महामनोजात्तितिक्षोः पुत्रोऽभूच्च रुषद्रथः । हेमो रुषद्रथाज्जज्ञे सुतपा हेमतोऽभवत् ॥ १,१३९.
From Mahāmanojāt was born Titikṣu’s son Ruṣadratha; from Ruṣadratha came Hema, and from Hema, Sutapā was born.
बलिः सुतपसो जज्ञे ह्यङ्गवङ्गकलिङ्गकाः । अन्धः पैण्ड्रश्च बालेया ह्यनपानस्तथाङ्गतः ॥ १,१३९.
From Sutapā was born Bali, and from him came Aṅga, Vaṅga, Kaliṅga, and others; Andha and Paiṇḍra were also sons of Bali, as were Anapāna and Aṅgata.
अनपानाद्दिविरथस्ततो धर्मरथोऽभवत् । रोमपादो धर्मरथाच्चतुरङ्गस्तदात्मजः ॥ १,१३९.
From Anapāna came Diviratha, and from him, Dharmaratha; Romapāda was the son of Dharmaratha, and Caturaṅga was Romapāda’s son.
पृथुलाक्षस्तस्य पुत्रश्चम्पोऽभूत्पृथुलाक्षतः । चम्पपुत्रश्च हर्यङ्गस्तस्य भद्ररथः सुतः ॥ १,१३९.
Pṛthulākṣa was his son, and from Pṛthulākṣa came Campa; Haryaṅga was the son of Campa, and Bhadraratha was Haryaṅga’s son.
बृहत्कर्मा सुतस्तस्य बृहद्भानुस्ततोऽभवत् । बुहन्मना बृहाद्भानोस्तस्य पुत्रो जयद्रथः ॥ १,१३९.
Bṛhatkarman was the son of Bhadraratha, and from him came Bṛhadbhānu; from Bṛhadbhānu was born Buhanmanā, whose son was Jayadratha.
जयज्रथस्य विजयो विजयस्य धृतिः सुतः । धृतेर्धृव्रतः पुत्रः सत्यधर्मा धृतव्रतात् ॥ १,१३९.
From Jayadratha came Vijaya, and from Vijaya, Dhṛti was born; from Dhṛti came Dhṛtavrata, and from Dhṛtavrata, Satyadharmā.
तस्य पुत्रस्त्वधिरथः कर्णस्तस्य सुतोऽभवत् ॥ १,१३९.
His son was Adhiratha, and Karṇa was the son of Adhiratha.
वृर्षसेनस्तु कर्णस्य पुरुवंश्याञ्छणुष्व मे ॥ १,१३९.
Vṛṣasena was the son of Karṇa; now hear from me about the descendants of the Puru lineage.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् १४० हरिरुवाच । जनमेजयः पुरोश्चाभून्नमस्युर्जनमेजयात् । तस्य पुत्रश्चाभयदः सुद्युश्चाभयदादभूत् ॥ १,१४०.
Hari said: Janamejaya was formerly born, and Namasya came from Janamejaya; his son was Abhayada, and from Abhayada, Sudyus was born.
सुद्योर्बहुगतिः पुत्रः संजातिस्तस्य चात्मजः । वत्सजातिश्च सञ्जातेः रौद्राश्वश्च तदात्मजः ॥ १,१४०.
Sudyu’s son was Bahugati, and his son was Saṃjāti; from Saṃjāti came Vatsajāti, and from him, Raudrāśva was born.
ऋतेयुः स्थण्डिलेयुश्च कक्षेयुश्च कृतेयुकः । जलेयुः सन्ततेयुश्च रोद्राश्वस्य सुता वराः ॥ १,१४०.
Ṛteyu, Sthaṇḍileyu, Kakṣeyu, Kṛteyuka, Jaleyu, and Santateyu were the noble sons of Raudrāśva.
रतिनार ऋतेयोश्च तस्य प्रतिरथः सुतः । तस्य मेधातिथिः पुत्रस्तत्पुत्रश्चैनिलः स्मृतः ॥ १,१४०.
From Ṛteyu came Ratināra, whose son was Pratiratha; his son was Medhātithi, and Medhātithi’s son was Ainila.
ऐनिलस्य तु दुष्यन्तो भरतस्तस्य चात्मजः । शकुन्तलायां संजज्ञे वितथो भरतादभूत् ॥ १,१४०.
Ainila’s son was Duṣyanta, and his son was Bharata; Bharata was born from Śakuntalā, and from Bharata came Vitatha.
वितथस्य सुतो मन्युर्मन्योश्चैव नरः स्मृतः । नरस्य संकृतिः पुत्रो गर्गो वै संकृतेः सुतः ॥ १,१४०.
Vitatha’s son was Manyu, and Manyu’s son is remembered as Nara; Nara’s son was Saṃkṛti, and Garga was the son of Saṃkṛti.
गर्गादमन्युः पुत्रो वै शिनिः पुत्रो व्यजायत । मन्युपुत्रान्महावीर्यात्सुतोऽभवदुरुक्षयः ॥ १,१४०.
Garga’s son was Amanyu, and his son was Śini; from Manyu’s powerful sons was born Urukṣaya.
उरुक्षयात्त्रय्यारुणिर्व्यूहक्षत्राच्च मन्युजात् । सुहोत्रस्तस्य हस्ती च अजमीढद्विमीढकौ ॥ १,१४०.
From Urukṣaya came Trayāruṇi, and from Vyūhakṣatra, born of Manyu, came Suhotra; his sons were Hastī, Ajamīḍha, and Vimīḍhaka.
हस्तिनः पुरुमीढश्च कण्वोऽभूदजमीढतः । कण्वान्मेधातिथिर्जज्ञे यतः काण्वायना द्विजाः ॥ १,१४०.
From Hastin came Purumīḍha, and from Ajamīḍha, Kaṇva was born; from Kaṇva came Medhātithi, from whom the Kāṇvāyanas, the twice-born, descended.
अजमीढाद्वृहदिषुस्तत्पुत्रश्च बृहद्धनुः । बृहत्कर्मा तस्य पुत्रस्तस्य पुत्रो जयद्रथः ॥ १,१४०.
From Ajamīḍha came Vṛhadiṣu, and his son was Bṛhaddhanu; Bṛhatkarmā was the son of Bṛhaddhanu, and his son was Jayadratha.
जयद्रथाद्विश्वजिच्च सेनजिच्च तदात्मजः । रुचिराश्वः सेनजितः पृथुसेनस्तदात्मजः ॥ १,१४०.
From Jayadratha came Viśvajit, and from him Senajit, whose son was Rucirāśva; from Senajit came Pṛthusena, his son.
पारस्तु पृथुसेनस्य पाराद्द्वीपोऽभवन्नृपः । नृपस्य सृमरः पुत्रः सुकृतिश्च पृथोः सुतः ॥ १,१४०.
Pāra was the son of Pṛthusena, and from Pāra came Dvīpa, the king; the king's son was Sṛmara, and Sukṛti was the son of Pṛthu.
विभ्राजः सुकृतेः पुत्रो विभ्राजादश्वहोऽभवत् । कृत्यां तस्माद्ब्रह्मदत्तो विष्वक्सेनस्तदात्मजः ॥ १,१४०.
Vibhrāja was the son of Sukṛti, and from Vibhrāja came Aśvaha; from him was born Kṛtyā, then Brahmadatta, and Viṣvaksena, his son.
यवीनरो द्विमीढस्य धृतिमांश्च यवीनरात् । धतिमतः सत्यधृतिर्दृढनेमिस्तदात्मजः ॥ १,१४०.
Yavīnara was the son of Dvimīḍha, and Dhṛtimān was the son of Yavīnara; from Dhṛtimān came Satyadhṛti, and Dṛḍhanemi, his son.
दृढनेमेः सुपार्श्वोऽभूत्सुपार्श्वात्सन्नतिस्तथा । कृस्तु सन्नतेः पुत्रः कृतादुग्रायुधोऽभवत् ॥ १,१४०.
From Dṛḍhanemi came Supārśva, and from Supārśva, Sannati; Kṛstu was the son of Sannati, and from Kṛta came Ugrāyudha.
उग्रायुधाच्च क्षेम्यौऽभूत्सुधीरस्तु तदात्मजः । पुरञ्जयः सुधीराच्च तस्य पुत्रो विदूरथः ॥ १,१४०.
From Ugrāyudha came Kṣemya, and Sudhīra was his son; from Sudhīra came Purañjaya, and his son was Vidūratha.
अजमीढान्नलिन्याञ्च नीलो नाम नृपोऽभवत् । नीलाच्छान्तिरभूत्पुत्रः सुशान्तिस्तस्य चात्मजः ॥ १,१४०.
From Ajamīḍha and Nalini was born a king named Nīla; Śānti was the son of Nīla, and Suśānti was his son.
सुशान्तेश्च पुरुर्जातो ह्यर्कस्तस्य सुतोऽभवत् । अर्कस्य चैव हर्यश्वो हर्यश्वान्मुकुलोऽभवत् ॥ १,१४०.
From Suśānti was born Purur, and his son was Arka; from Arka came Haryaśva, and from Haryaśva, Mukula.
यवीनरो बृहद्भानुः कम्पिल्लः सृञ्जयस्तथा । पाञ्चालान्मुकुलाज्जज्ञे शरद्वान्वैष्णवो महान् ॥ १,१४०.
Yavīnara, Bṛhadbhānu, Kampilla, and Sṛñjaya were born; from Mukula came the great Śaradvān, a devotee of Viṣṇu, among the Pāñcālas.
दिवोदासो द्वितीयोऽस्य ह्यहल्यायां शरद्वतः । शतानन्दोऽभवत्पुत्रस्तस्य सत्यधृतिः सतः ॥ १,१४०.
Divodāsa was the second son of Śaradvān by Ahalyā; from him was born Śatānanda, whose son was Satyadhṛti.
कृपः कृपी सत्यधृतेरुर्वश्यां वीर्यहानितः । द्रोणपत्नी कृपी जज्ञे अश्वत्थामानमुत्तमम् ॥ १,१४०.
Kṛpa and Kṛpī were the children of Satyadhṛti by Urvaśī, born through the loss of virility; Kṛpī, wife of Droṇa, gave birth to the illustrious Aśvatthāman.
