तच्छृणुष्व महेशान सर्वपापविनाशनम् 14.
Hear this, O great Lord, which destroys all sins.
वासुदेवो जगन्नाथो ब्रह्मात्मास्म्यहमेव हि 14.
Vāsudeva, Lord of the universe, the Self of Brahman—indeed, I am that.
देहधर्म्मविहीनश्च क्षराक्षरविवर्जितः 14.
I am devoid of bodily attributes, free from the perishable and the imperishable.
तद्धर्म्मरहितः स्रष्टा नामगोत्रविवर्जितः 14.
I am the creator, devoid of those attributes, without name or lineage.
मनोधर्म्मविहीनश्च विज्ञानं ज्ञानमेव च 14.
I am free from the attributes of mind; I am knowledge and awareness itself.
बुद्धिधर्म्मविहीनश्च सर्वः सर्वगतो मनः 14.
I am free from the attributes of intellect; I am all, the all-pervading mind.
प्राणप्राणो महाशान्तो भयेन परिवर्जितः 14.
I am the life of life, supremely tranquil, untouched by fear.
तत्साक्षी तन्नियन्ता च परमानन्दरूपकः 14.
I am the witness of that, the controller of that, of the nature of supreme bliss.
तुरीयः परमो धाता दृग्रूपो गुणवर्जितः 14.
The fourth is the supreme creator, the form of consciousness, free from all qualities.
एवं ये मानवा विज्ञा ध्यायन्तीशं परं पदम् 14.
Thus, those humans who know this and meditate upon the Lord, the supreme state—
इति ध्यानं समाख्यातं तव शङ्कर सुव्रत 14.
Thus, O Śaṅkara of noble vows, this meditation has been described to you.
संसारसागराद्धोरान्मुच्यते किं जपन्प्रभो 15.
By reciting what, O Lord, does one become freed from the dreadful ocean of worldly existence?
परेश्वरं परं ब्रह्म परमात्मानमव्ययम् 15.
The Supreme Lord, the Supreme Brahman, the imperishable Supreme Self—
यत्पवित्रं परं जप्यं कथयामि वृषध्वज ! 15.
I shall tell you, O Bull-bannered one, that pure and supreme mantra to be recited.
ॐ वासुदेवो महाविष्णुर्वामनो वासवो वसुः 15.
Om! Vāsudeva, Mahāviṣṇu, Vāmana, Vāsava, Vasu—
बलिबन्धनकृद्वेधा वरेण्यो वेदवित्किविः 15.
The binder of Bali, the creator, the most excellent, knower of the Vedas, the wise—
वेदाङ्गवेत्ता वेदेशो बलाधारो बलार्दनः 15.
Knower of the limbs of the Veda, Lord of the Vedas, foundation of strength, destroyer of strength—
वीरहा च बृहद्वीरो वन्दितः परमेश्वरः 15.
Slayer of heroes, the great hero, worshipped, Supreme Lord—
पद्मनाभः पद्मनिधिः पद्महस्तो गदाधरः 15.
Lotus-naveled, possessor of the lotus-treasure, lotus-handed, wielder of the mace—
पद्मजङ्घः पुण्डरीकः पद्ममालाधरः प्रियः 15.
Lotus-thighed, the lotus-eyed, adorned with a garland of lotuses, beloved—
अपारः परमार्थश्च पराणां च परः प्रभुः 15.
Boundless, of supreme purpose, and the supreme Lord of the supreme—
शुद्धः प्रकाशरूपश्च पवित्रः परिरक्षकः 15.
Pure, of the form of light, sanctified, the protector—
प्रधानं पृथिवीपद्मं पद्मनाभः प्रियप्रदः 15.
The chief, the earth-lotus, lotus-naveled, bestower of affection—
सर्वस्य जगतो धाम सर्वदर्शो च सर्वभृत् 15.
The support of all the worlds, all-seeing, sustainer of all—
सर्वपूज्यश्च सर्वाद्यः सर्वदेवनमस्कृतः 15.
Worthy of all worship, the first of all, saluted by all the gods—
सर्वगोप्ता सर्वनिष्ठः सर्वकारणकारणम् 15.
Protector of all, the ultimate refuge of all, the cause of all causes.
सर्वाध्यक्षः सुराऽध्यक्ष सुरासुरनमस्कृतः 15.
He is the overseer of all, the lord of the gods, honored by both gods and demons.
सत्यपालश्च सन्नाभः सिद्धेशः सिद्धवन्दितः 15.
He is the protector of truth, the one with the navel as the origin, the lord of the perfected beings, worshipped by the perfected ones.
शरणं जगतश्चैव श्रेयः क्षेमस्तथैव च 15.
He is the refuge of the world, and likewise the source of welfare and security.
सत्यस्थः सत्यसङ्कल्पः सत्यवित्सत्य (त्प) दस्तथ 15.
He abides in truth, his resolve is truth, he knows truth, and he speaks truth.
