मज्जान्तां जुहुयाद्वापि स्वस्वमन्त्रैर्यथाक्रमम् 105.
Or he may offer oblations into the marrow, each with the proper mantras in order.
निरातङ्कं द्विजं गां च ब्राह्मणार्थे हतोऽपि वा 105.
Or, even if he is killed for the sake of a Brahmin, he or a twice-born cow becomes free from distress.
सरस्वतीं वा संसेव्यं धनं पात्रे समर्पयेत् 105.
Or, by serving Sarasvatī or giving wealth to a worthy recipient.
गर्भहा वा यथावर्णं तथात्रेयीनिषू (सू) दनम् 105.
Or, a destroyer of the fetus, according to his class, should give the prescribed fee to an Ātreya.
द्विगुणं सवनस्थे तु ब्राह्मणे व्रतमाचरेत् 105.
When a Brāhmaṇa is present at a Soma sacrifice, he should observe a vow that is twice as severe.
अग्निवर्णं घृतं वापि चीरवास जटी भवेत् 105.
He should wear garments of bark and matted hair, and subsist on clarified butter of the color of fire.
रेतेविण्मूत्रपानाच्च सुरापा ब्राह्मणी तथा 105.
A Brāhmaṇa woman who drinks semen, urine, or excrement, or who drinks liquor, is likewise so.
स्वर्णहारी द्विजो राज्ञे दत्त्वा तु मुसलं तथा 105.
A twice-born who steals gold, after giving a pestle to the king, should do likewise.
आत्मतुल्यं सुवर्णं वा दत्त्वा शुद्धिमियाद्द्विजः 105.
Or, by giving gold equal to his own weight, the twice-born attains purification.
उच्छेद्य लिङ्गं वृषणं नैर्ऋत्यामुत्सृजोद्दिशि 105.
The severed phallus and testicles should be cast away in the southwestern direction.
चान्द्रायणं वा त्रीन्मासनभ्यसेद्वेदसंहिताम् 105.
Or, he may perform the Cāndrāyaṇa penance, or recite the Veda Saṃhitā for three months.
गोष्ठेशयो गोऽनुगामी गोप्रदानेन शुध्यति 105.
Lying in a cowshed, following the cows, he is purified by the gift of a cow.
पयसा वापि मासेन पराकेणापि वा पुनः 105.
Or, by subsisting on milk for a month, or on parched grain, he is purified again.
ब्रह्महत्याव्रतं वापि वत्सरत्रितयं चरेत् 105.
Or, he should observe the vow for killing a Brāhmaṇa for three years.
षण्मासाच्छूद्रहा चैतद्दद्याद्वा धेनवो दश 105.
For killing a Śūdra, six months is prescribed, or he should give ten cows.
मार्जारगोधानकुलपशुमण्डूकघातनात् 105.
For killing a cat, iguana, mongoose, animal, or frog,
गजे नीलान्वृषान्पञ्च शुके वत्सं द्विहायनम् 105.
For an elephant, five black bulls; for a parrot, a two-year-old calf.
वृक्षगुल्मलतावीरुच्छेदने जप्यमृक्शतम् 105.
For cutting down a tree, shrub, creeper, or hero tree, one hundred recitations of the Ṛk is prescribed.
गर्दभं पशुमालभ्य नैर्ऋतं च विशुध्यति 105.
By obtaining a donkey as a sacrificial animal and offering it in the southwestern direction, one is purified.
कृच्छ्रत्रयं गुरुः कुर्य्यान्म्रियेत् प्रहितो यदि 105.
The teacher should perform three kṛcchra penances if the one sent dies.
रिपून्धान्यप्रदानाद्यैः स्नेहाद्यैर्वाप्युपक्रमेत् 105.
He should approach enemies by giving grain or by means of affection and other methods.
महापापोपपापाभ्यां योभिशस्तो मृषा परम् 105.
He who is falsely accused of a great or minor sin, to the highest degree—
अनियुक्तो भ्रातृभार्य्यां गच्छंश्चान्द्रायणं चरेत् 105.
One who, without being authorized, approaches his brother’s wife should perform the Cāndrāyaṇa penance.
गोष्ठे वसन्ब्रह्मचारी मासमेकं पयोव्रती 105.
A celibate student, residing in a cowshed for one month, should undertake a milk vow.
त्रिः कृच्छ्रमाचरेद्व्रात्ययाजकोऽपि चरन्नपि 105.
Even one who officiates at a sacrifice for an outcaste should perform the Kṛcchra penance three times.
प्राणायामत्रयं कुर्य्यात्खरयानोष्ट्रयानगः 105.
He who rides a donkey or camel should practice the threefold regulation of breath.
गुरुंत्वं कृत्य हुंकृत्य विप्रं निर्जित्य वाद तः 105.
If you insult your teacher, utter 'hum' at him, or defeat a Brāhmaṇa in debate,
विप्रे दण्डोद्यमे कृच्छ्रमतिकृच्छ्रं निपातने 105.
If you threaten a Brāhmaṇa with a staff, or strike him down, you must perform the Kṛcchra or Atikṛcchra penance.
प्रायश्चितं प्रकल्प्यं स्याद्यत्र योक्ता तु निष्कृतिः 105.
Where expiation is prescribed, proper atonement should be undertaken.
एष ग्रहान्तिके दोषः तस्मात्तां दूतरस्त्यजेत् 105.
This is the fault near the planets; therefore, one should abandon such a messenger.
