मृत्तिकां रोचनां गन्धान् गुग्गुलुं चाप्सु निः क्षिपेत् 100.
One should place clay, yellow pigment, perfumes, and guggulu in water.
चर्मण्यानुडुहे रक्ते स्थाप्यं भद्रासने तथा 100.
It should be set on a fortunate seat, on a red hide from an unyoked animal.
तेन त्वामभिषिञ्चामि पावमान्यः पुनन्तु ते 100.
With this, I anoint you; may the purifying ones cleanse you.
भगमिन्द्रश्च वायुश्च भगं सप्तर्षयो ददुः 100.
Bhaga, Indra, and Vāyu, and the Seven Sages have bestowed fortune.
ललाटे कर्णयोरक्ष्णोरापस्तद्घ्नुंतु ते सदा 100.
May the waters always remove harm from your forehead, ears, and eyes.
जुहुयान्मूर्द्धनि कुशान्सव्येन परिगृह्य च 100.
One should offer kuśa grass on the head, holding it with the right hand.
कुष्माण्डो राजपुत्रश्च अन्ते स्वाहासमन्वितैः 100.
The gourd and the prince, at the end, with the utterance of 'svāhā'.
कृताकृतांस्तण्डुलांश्च पललौदनमेव च 100.
Both cooked and uncooked rice, as well as gruel, should be used.
मूलकं पूरिकापूपं तथैवौण्डेरकस्रजः 100.
Root vegetables, fried cakes, sweet cakes, and garlands of uṇḍeraka likewise.
एतान्सर्वानुपाहृत्य भूमौ कृत्वा ततः शिरः 100.
Having brought all these, placing them on the ground, then the head—
दूर्वासर्षपपुष्पैश्च पुत्रजन्मभिरन्ततः 100.
With dūrvā grass, mustard flowers, and finally with the birth of a son.
रूपं देहि यशोदेहि भाग्यं भगवति ! देहि मे 100.
Grant me beauty, grant me fame, grant me fortune, O Goddess!
ब्राह्मणान् भोजयेत्पश्चाच्छुक्लवस्त्रानुलेपनैः श्रेयः कर्मफलं विन्द्यात्सूर्यार्चनरतस्तथा ॥ 100.
Afterwards, one should feed the Brāhmaṇas, with white garments and ointments; thus, devoted to worship of the Sun, one attains the best result of action.
इति श्रागारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे याज्ञवल्क्लोक्तगणपतिकल्पनिरूपणं नाम शततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the hundredth chapter, named 'The Description of the Ganapati Ritual as told by Yājñavalkya,' in the Ācārakāṇḍa of the first section of the early part of the great Garuḍa Purāṇa.
श्रीकामः शान्तिकामो वा ग्रहदृष्ट्यभिचारवान् 101.
One who desires prosperity, peace, or is afflicted by the influence of planets—
सूर्य्यः सोमो मङ्गलश्च बुधश्चैव बृहस्पतिः 101.
The Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, and also Jupiter—
ताम्रकांस्यस्फाटिकाद्रक्तचन्दनात्स्वर्णकादुभौ 101.
Of copper, bronze, crystal, red sandalwood, and gold, both—
रक्तः शुक्लस्तथा रक्तः पीतः पीतः सितोसितः 101.
Red, white, again red, yellow, yellow, white, and black.
स्थापयेद्गहवर्णानि होमार्थं प्रलिखेत्पटे सुवर्णानि प्रदेयानि वासांसि सुसुमानि च ॥ 101.
One should install planetary images of these colors for the purpose of offering, and draw them on cloth; garments of gold and fine flowers should be given.
गन्धाश्च बलयश्चैव धूपो देयश्चगुग्गुलुः 101.
Fragrant substances, armlets, and incense should be given, as well as guggulu.
आकृष्णेन इमंदेवा अग्निर्मूर्द्धादिवः ककुत् 101.
The gods have drawn forth this Agni, as the summit of the heavens is drawn forth.
बृहस्पतेपरिदीयेति सर्वे अन्नात्परिसुतम् 101.
O Bṛhaspati, let all be offered, for everything is produced from food.
अर्कः पलाशः खदिरस्त्वपामार्गोऽथ पिप्पलः 101.
Arka, palāśa, khadira, apāmārga, and pippala—these are to be used.
होतव्या मधुसर्पिर्भ्यां दध्ना चैव समन्वितः 101.
The offering should be prepared with honey, clarified butter, and also with curds.
दध्योदनं हविः पूपान्मांसं चित्रान्नमेव च 101.
Curd-rice, sacrificial cakes, various kinds of meat, and diverse foods are offerings.
धेनुः शङ्खस्तथानड्वान्हेम वासो हयस्तथा ग्रहाः पूज्याः सदा यस्माद्रज्यादि प्राप्यते फलम् ॥ 101.
A cow, a conch, a cart, gold, cloth, and a horse—these, along with planets, are always to be honored, because from them results such as kingship and others are obtained.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे याज्ञवल्क्योक्तग्रहशान्तिनिरूपणं नामैकोत्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred and first chapter, named 'Description of the Pacification of Planets as Taught by Yājñavalkya,' in the Ācārakāṇḍa of the First Section of the Śrī Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa.
वानप्रस्थाश्रमं वक्ष्ये तच्छृण्वन्तु महर्षयः 102.
I shall now describe the stage of life of the forest-dweller; let the great sages listen.
वानप्रस्थो ब्रह्मचारी साग्निः सोपासनः क्षमी 102.
The forest-dweller is celibate, maintains the sacred fire, is devoted to worship, and is patient.
भृत्यांस्तु तर्पयेच्छ्मश्रुजटालोमभृदात्मवान् 102.
He should satisfy his dependents, and, being self-controlled, bear matted hair, beard, and body hair.
