आवाह्य तदनुज्ञातो विश्वदेवासइत्यृचा 99.

The barley offering should be made with sesame seeds; one should perform the arghya and other rites as before.
पितृभ्यः स्थानमसीति न्युब्जं पात्रं करोत्यधः 99.
For the ancestors, the place is assigned; the vessel is placed downward, facing below.
कुरुष्वेति तथोक्तोसौ हुत्वाग्नौ पितृयज्ञवत् 99.
Thus instructed, he should perform the offering into the fire as in the ancestral rite.
यथालाभोपपन्नेषु रौप्येषु च विशेषतः 99.
Especially when silver is available, or whatever is obtained, he should proceed accordingly.
कृत्वे दंविष्णुरित्येवं द्विजाङ्गुष्ठं निवेशयेत् 99.
Having made the gift, he should place the thumb of a twice-born on it, saying 'This is for Vishnu.'
जप्त्वा यथासुखं वाच्यं भुञ्जीरंस्तेऽपि वाग्यताः 99.
After reciting as much as is comfortable, it should be spoken, and they too may eat in silence.
आतृप्तेस्तु पवित्राणि जप्त्वा पूर्वजपं तथा 99.
If there is any dissatisfaction, he should recite the purifying mantras and the previous recitation as well.
तदन्नं विकिरेद्भूमौ दद्याच्चापः सकृत्सकृत् 99.
He should scatter that food upon the ground and offer water once and again.
उच्छिष्टसन्निधौ पिण्डान्प्रदद्यात्पितृयज्ञवत् 99.
In the presence of leftovers, he should offer the rice-balls as in the ancestral rite.
स्वस्ति वाच्यं ततो दद्यादक्षय्योदकमेव च 99.
Then, he should say 'Blessings' and give inexhaustible water as well.
वाच्यतामिन्यनुज्ञातः पितृभ्यश्च स्वधोच्यताम् 99.
When permitted to speak, let 'Svadhā' be uttered for the ancestors.
प्रीयन्तामिति चाहैवं विश्वेदेव्यं जलं ददत् 99.
He should also say 'May they be pleased,' while offering water to the universal deities.
श्रद्धा च नो मा व्यगमद्वहु देयं च नोऽस्त्विति 99.
Let our faith not depart, and may we always have something to give.
वाजेवाजे इति प्रीत्या पितृपूर्वं विसर्जनम् 99.
With affection, saying 'May it be in every offering,' the dismissal of the ancestors is performed.

अभिरम्यतां प्रबूयाद् ब्रुयुस्तेभिरताः स्म ह 99.
Let them say, 'May there be delight,' and let those who are present declare, 'We have enjoyed.'
अर्घ्यार्थं पितृपात्रेषु प्रेतपात्रं प्रसेचयेत् 99.
For the sake of arghya, he should pour out the vessel for the departed into the ancestral vessels.
एतत्सपिण्डीकरणमेकोद्दिष्टं स्त्रिया अपि 99.
This piṇḍa offering and the single-invitation rite are to be performed even for a woman.
तस्याप्यन्नं सोदकुम्भं दद्यात्संवत्सरं द्विजः 99.
For her as well, a twice-born should offer food with a water-pot for a year.
हविष्यान्नेन वै मासं पायसेन तु वत्सरम् 99.
For a month, with food suitable for offerings; for a year, with rice pudding.
ऐणरौरववा राहशाशमांसैर्यथाक्रमम् 99.
With the flesh of the fish, ruru deer, varāha boar, and hare, in due order.
दद्याद्वर्षात्रयोदश्यां मघासु च न संशयः 99.
One should offer on the thirteenth day of the year and when the Maghā constellation is present—there is no doubt.
शस्त्रेण निहतानां तु चतुर्दश्यां प्रदीयते 99.
For those slain by weapons, it is to be offered on the fourteenth day.
