पितॄन्नमस्ये दिवि ये च मूर्त्ताः स्वधाभुजः काम्यफलाभिसन्धौ 89.
I bow to the ancestors who dwell in heaven, who are embodied, who partake of svadhā, and who are intent upon the fruits of desire.
तृप्यन्तु तेऽस्मिन्पितरः समस्ता इच्छावतां ये प्रदिशन्ति कामान् 89.
May all those ancestors be satisfied here, who grant desires to those who wish for them.
सोमस्य ये रश्मिषु येऽर्कबिम्बे शुक्ले विमाने च सदा वसन्ति 89.
Those who dwell always in the rays of Soma, in the orb of the sun, and in the shining celestial chariots.
येषां हुतेऽग्नौ हविषा च तृप्तिर्ये भुञ्जते विप्रशरीरसंस्थाः 89.
Those whose satisfaction comes from offerings poured into the sacrificial fire, and who partake of the oblations placed in the bodies of Brahmins.
ये खड्गमांसेन सुरैरभीष्टैः कृष्णैस्तिलैर्दिव्य मनोहरैश्च 89.
Those who are gratified by sword-cut meat, by their desired drinks, by black sesame seeds, and by delightful divine offerings.
कव्यान्यशेषाणि च यान्यभीष्टान्यतीव तेषां मम पूजितानाम् 89.
All the various offerings, whatever desirable things there are, exceedingly so, for those ancestors of mine who have been worshipped.
दिने दिने ये प्रतिगृह्णतेऽर्चां मासान्तपूज्या भुवि येऽष्टकासु 89.
Those who, day by day, accept worship, and who are to be honored at the end of the month, and those who dwell in the bricks upon the earth.
पूज्या द्विजानां कुमुदेन्दुभासो ये क्षत्त्रियाणां ज्वलनार्कवर्णाः 89.
Those who are to be worshipped among Brahmins, shining like the lotus and the moon, and among Kshatriyas, radiant like fire and the sun.
तेऽस्मिन्समस्ता मम पुष्पगन्धधूपाम्बुभोज्यादिनिवेदनेन 89.
May all of them, through the offering of flowers, fragrance, incense, water, food, and other presentations, be satisfied here.
ये देवपूर्वाण्यभितृप्तिहेतोर श्रन्ति कव्यानि शुभाहृतानि 89.
Those who, for the sake of satisfaction, accept the offerings that were first given to the gods, and the auspicious things that have been brought.
रक्षांसि भूतान्यसुरांस्तथोग्रात्रिर्णाशयन्तु त्वशिवं प्रजानाम् 89.
May the Rakshasas, spirits, fierce demons, and all dangers be destroyed, so that there is no harm to the people.
अग्निष्वात्ता बर्हिषद आज्यपाः सोमपास्तथा 89.
The Agniṣvāttas, the Barhiṣads, the Ājyapās, and the Somapās as well.
अग्निष्वात्ताः पितृगणाः प्राचीं रक्षन्तु मे दिशम् प्रतीचीमाज्यपास्तद्वदुदीचीमपि सोमपाः ॥ 89.
May the Agniṣvātta groups of ancestors protect my eastern direction, the Ājyapās the western, and likewise the Somapās the northern.
रक्षोभूतपिशाचेभ्यस्तथैवासुरदोषतः 89.
From Rakshasas, spirits, ghosts, and likewise from the faults of demons.
विश्वो विश्वभुगाराध्यो धर्मो धन्यः शुभाननः 89.
He is universal, the enjoyer of all, worthy of worship, righteous, blessed, and of auspicious face.
कल्याणः कल्यदः कर्त्ता कल्यः कल्यतराश्रयः 89.
He is auspicious, the giver of auspiciousness, the doer, the blessed one, and the refuge of the most auspicious.
वरो वरेण्यो वरदस्तुष्टिदः पुष्टिदस्तथा 89.
He is excellent, most excellent, the bestower of boons, the giver of satisfaction, and also the giver of nourishment.
महान्महात्मा महितो महिमावान्महाबलः 89.
He is great, of great soul, honored, possessing greatness, and of great strength.
सुखदो धनदश्चान्यो धर्मदोऽन्यश्च भूतिदः 89.
One bestows happiness, another grants wealth, another gives righteousness, and yet another confers existence.
एकत्रिंशत्पितृगणा यैर्व्याप्तमखिलं जगत् 89.
By whom the entire universe is pervaded—these are the thirty-one groups of ancestors.
एवं तु स्तुवतस्तस्य तेजसोराशिरुच्छ्रितः 89.
As he thus praised them, a great radiance arose from their energy.
तदॄष्ट्वा सुमहत्तेजः समाच्छाद्य स्थितं जगत् 89.
Seeing that immense brilliance, which enveloped the whole world,
रुचिरुवाच नमस्यामि सदा तेषां ध्यानिनां दिव्यचक्षुषाम् ॥ 89.
Ruci spoke: I always bow to those meditators endowed with divine vision.
इन्द्रादीनां च नेतारो दक्षमारीचयोस्तथा 89.
To the leaders among Indra and the others, and likewise of Daksha and Marichi,
मन्वादीनां च नेतारः सूर्य्याचन्द्रमसोस्तथा 89.
To the leaders among the Manus and others, and likewise of the Sun and the Moon,
नक्षत्राणां ग्रहाणां च वाय्वग्न्योर्नभसस्तथा 89.
To the stars, the planets, and likewise to wind, fire, and the sky,
प्रजापतेः कश्यपाय सोमाय वरुणाय च 89.
To Prajapati, to Kashyapa, to Soma, and to Varuna,
नमो गणेभ्यः सप्तभ्यस्तथा लोकेषु सप्तसु 89.
Homage to the seven groups, and likewise to the seven worlds.
सोमाधारान्पितृगणान्योगमूर्त्तिधरांस्तथा 89.
To the groups of ancestors who are the supports of Soma, and those who possess yogic forms,
अग्निरूपांस्तथैवान्यान्नमस्यामि पितॄनहम् 89.
And to those ancestors who have the form of fire, and to others as well, I offer my reverence.
